I took the first day off of my job at the time. Well, technically I quit that job the day before and sat my butt down while I was filling out paperwork for my current job and waiting for the start date. But I had asked my wife if she'd be OK with me doing it. She knows that I LOVE horror media, and have read almost as many King books as our illustrious host here. She basically said: It means I don't have to watch it with you...go ahead. Of course, that didn't stop her from watching it with me about a month later and becoming totally engrossed...I don't think anyone would have cheered so loudly about Bev's resolution. She hated that character, probably more than I did.
Morning Mr. Doyle. Flanagan rocks. His movie Hush sold me on his talent and I haven’t been disappointed since. Cannot wait for Usher. And yeah, that scene. I think King really knows how children being hurt connects to our deepest fears so well and Flanagan really tapped into that. Excited for your N&D ranking. Hoping to see my personal favorite, Crouch End, up near the top. 😉. Have an awesome weekend.
I don't know exactly why I landed on this interesting channel but I'm very pleased I did. Although I'm a Stephen King fan for decades (yes, I'm that "old"), I haven't read any books of him in the few past years. Reason is that I dislike the most adaptions of (older) books that made it to the screen which a kind of stopped me reading his newer releases. I know, it doesn't make any sense because I'm very aware that his books are much more exiting the way it's meant to be. Anyway, there are a few King novels that are pretty good adapted to the screen, I myself do like The Shining, Doctor Sleep, The Green Mile, It and The Dark Tower (for all that matters). I've watched Gerald's Game today and I must that I find it pretty intriguing. So, watching your videos the last couple of days made me curious and inspired me to enjoy the real thing. I think you do a wonderful job especially by thoroughly reviewing the good and criticize the bad (mostly). The scripting and presentation is great and the somewhat sarcasm is in my humble opinion enjoyable and welcome. Keep up the good work Mister Doyle ;)
I’m glad you found the channel! If you want to jump into some modern King novels, the Mr Mercedes trilogy was enjoyable for me. And The Outsider was a great read as well!
@@agreatundertaking Thanks for the recommendations. I will definitely check them out. By the way...I forgot to mention Shawshank which is definitely among my list of favourite King books and movies.
Such a fantastic King movie adaptation. It's right up there for me with "1408", "Stand By Me" and "The Green Mile". Also, the It mini-series, and It Part 1 from 2017. I wish he had a novelization or "Storm of the Century" (to be fair, that's a good mini-series too), and "Rose Red"...mostly because I'd want to read a novel of that so it didn't feel totally disjointed combined with a Stephen King ending.
@@agreatundertaking I think Storm of the Century may be my favorite King miniseries behind 1990's "It". And as a dad, the theme have gotten far more poignant. Although a ton of things hit harder as a parent than before. "Pet Semetary" breaks my heart even worse. "One for the Road" feels even more hopeless all the way to the end. It made me want to attack the dad in the Eclipse scene of this movie until I was pound gray matter into a sandy pulp. And the end of "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" had me sobbing like a kid while holding my 8 day old little girl while watching it. "Rose Red" is just stupid fun. It's like the 1997or 1998 "The Shining" miniseries in that regard. But it is like King wanted to put a spin on The Haunting of Hill House by way of the Winchester Mansion in California. And it has the guy who played Feyd Rautha-Harkonnen in the 2000 Dune miniseries in it.
I watched Gerald's Game and thought it was Great. I watched Dr. Sleep and was blown away. When i found out the same guy made both i was hooked and a fan for life. His film Before I Wake is extremely underrated. Midnight Mass is his masterpiece. Put Salem's Lot and Revival in a blender and thats what you get
I haven’t seen Before I Wake or any of Flanagan’s early work so I need to remedy that. It’s been SO long since I’ve read Revival. Looking forward to going back to it!
I was excited to see a Christopher Pike adaptation. His books were like, the next step up from Fear Street for my generation. I thought they handled it well and they covered some of my favorites
It took me quite awhile to watch gerald's game the movie because I was afraid of getting triggered I'm a survivor of child sexual abuse I absolutely enjoyed this film definitely one of the best king adaptations to me carla was brilliant as Jesse mike Flanagan once again did a great job
Midnight Mass is really great. One of the best series on Netflix.
Agreed! I was hooked on that show. Definitely one of the best in the Netflix arsenal.

Great to see you back, Mr.Doyle! Always happy to see a new video of yours pop up on my feed. ❤

For me it was Oculus. Oculus is so absolutely outstanding. "Gerald's Game" was the clincher though.
@@ryanedwards7487 oculus was great as well! I went watched that last year.

Mike Flanagan is probably one of my favorite King-esque directors. Midnight Mass is probably the best King adaptation not written by King LOL
Flanagan is very talented. I’m looking forward to his upcoming projects!

Dolores Claiborne and Jessie connect in those twinner novels. Dolores Claiborne's husband also got sexual with his daughter.
Hey Pat! Sorry for the delay. I figured after I re-read Dolores it will all make more sense.

I really enjoyed the midnight club it totally reminds me of the 90,s show are you afraid of the dark
I haven’t watched it, but I plan to check it out!

I hope that rose madder will get an adaptation Flanagan would be perfect doing that🤔
Have you read Delores Claiborne? If you haven't I am going you a heads up. There's child molestation in that novel as well.
Yeah, I’ve read it. Thanks for the heads up though. It’s been a long time and I’ve only read it once so I only remember the vaguest of details.

Yeah I can definitely see why you were hesitant to watch it. I agree that everyone did a great job in with the film.
Broke down and finally watched this outta respect for you
Are we done with King's Menstruation cycle yet?
Wait
A good wife is ahead of us
