Men, the level of genius to make such a beautiful routine with a beautiful background story... I just wanna say I really admire you, and I'm sure that your parents are so proud of you. I'm looking for the tutorial for that second deal, cause I'm just keeping messing up my hole deck trying to do it Greetings and respect from Mexico, dude
Brilliant! Please tell ALL YOUR 4 PARENTS that they did a wonderful job educating you. Keep working with magic and best regards from Poland! Hope to see one of your shows live one day...
So wonderful, so wise, and so important. My only additional small comment, would be for us all to strive to, not merely 'accept' each other as the beautiful and unique people we all are, but to go further and CELEBRATE our differences. In my mind, being 'accepting,' is just a small notch above 'tolerating.' And that's just not good enough. In this world, especially these days, we need as much positivity as possible. Thanks for the awesome video Daniel. As for your 4 parents, there's just no way they could be any more proud of YOU.
@@DanielRoyMagic You are so welcome Dan. To quote the amazing Indigo Girls, "We need to learn to respect what we don't understand." An fundamental humility is essential for real learning. Thanks again for all you bring to magic, and the world. #bigfan
My adoptive country, Japan, illustrates very well the difference between tolerating and accepting. Japan has no history of making homosexuality a crime. My native country, Canada, when I was 7 years old, sentenced a gay man to two consecutive life sentences for "gross indecency" to be served at "Her Majesty's" pleasure in a maximum security prison. This was worse than life for murder since "pleasure" implied no legal way to parole. We neither accepted nor tolerated homosexuality. That was in 1966. This was true from Catholic Quebec to Anglican(Episcopalian) Ontario. Japan never cared what you do in the privacy of your home. And certainly gay sex and even gay living is no exception. So homosexuality (bestiality, even pederasty in the old days etc...) was tolerated because it was never illegal. The same is true in Japan about religion: do not impose it on others but you are free in your home to practice the most bizarre religion. (This is why the AUM cult was such a problem to destroy). But to this day, in Japan, homosexual life type is not fully accepted. Gay families cannot exist legally. So Daniel's parents here could live in the same house but there would be two family registry (male-female) and Daniel would have officially one set of parents--- who ever declared him to be the son. I love the peaceful life in Japan. So I am quite torn about whether or not we should allow gay marriage. We should allow gay union but a marriage here must lead to a family registry. Perhaps we could have someone like Daniel into "two" family registries. Anyway I would hate to see the general tolerance of private life here be ruined by gay activism. I hope I do not insult you Daniel You are a great guy and God bless your parents, the full tetrarchy of them! PS I am a scientist too.... this is why I could easily immigrate here and become Japanese.
@SankeyMagic That´s so true. I am glad that Daniel grew up so free and happy. I remember that 45 years ago, when I was a child, we had a gay couple and also a lesbian couple in the neighborhood. My parents thought it was kind of strange, but they said these people were "nice anyway".And I think a lot of neighbors thought that way back then. Of course, it was still far from a celebration of differences, but it kind of worked. Anyway, I didn't notice any hatred towards the couples, as you often hear or read today. My father was also a racist, though he only ever expressed that to my mother and me. In public he always behaved normally towards black people, for example. Probably he himself suffered the most from his image of man. That's why I think a lot would be achieved if everyone would just let the other person live the way he likes it. No matter whether he himself likes it or not. For our future, however, I wish that there are such posts like ours no more, just because no one has to think about it.
Well you clearly aren't a democrat. Half the country voted blue because they literally can't even believe that some people would want to be different and share a different perspective. You seem to be in the minority, according to the Media and Governments of the world, who all unanimously, with one voice, tell us that everyone should hate eachother no matter what, and that no matter, do not ever stand together and definitely, definitely, dont ever stand up against them. Just saying your comment is completely contradictory to the current consensus in the world, which is that no one should ever be allowed to share a different opinion, let alone celebrate it. You're playing a dangerous game with comments like that.
This is the first time I've seen a story like this with magic, and it is just the sweetest. I teared up, and I'm sure your parents are proud of what you're doing to promote acceptance and humanity. This was awesome, thanks for sharing 🥰
I understand that I’m incredibly late to the boat on this video and I’m getting way too parasocial but, as a queer parent, I have to shout from the mountain top that your parents MUST be so _unbelievably_ proud of you. Sounds like they genuinely are, and they let you know it - often. This video made me smile and laugh and just cry the ugliest of tears. (Joyful tears!) Bravo - best card magic I’ve ever seen, right here. Absolutely delightful. I’ve commented before on another video about how I think of you as the second coming of Ricky Jay (or perhaps the third coming of Dai Vernon, six in one - half dozen in the other, etc, etc…) but, my goodness, that was so sweet and incomprehensibly beautiful for queer parents everywhere. Thank you for being you. 🩵🤍🩷

This is very inspiring. Not just the subject but you found a way to use magic to express and heal through magic there needs to be more magicians doing things like this.
As a novice in magic and cardistry, I found your videos amazing. But this is a whole new level of inspiration, to see them with new eyes and rethink the limits of magic and cards to ways I never thought it was possible before.
This made me cheer. My arms went into the air around when you showed the colorful backs of the cards. (I lowered my arms when they got tired.) I literally cannot remember the last time I cheered. (So, life dealt me some memory problems in recent years. But...) I'm pretty sure it has been years -- if not decades -- since something made me feel this good about humans.
Daniel, there is a wonderful irony here, in that magicians usually make things disappear, yet you have taken a family structure that is often invisible to the world and made it visible to us. Thank you for this video.
What a wonderful family, so full of love, support, joy and hope. I am sure they are so very proud of you, and of all you have achieved and will yet go on to achieve. Thank you for sharing this very personal side of your life with the world.

Beautiful way to share your story. It certainly hit close to home for me. My parents split when I Was 3 yrs old. Then both remarried when I was seven, giving me four parents. My friend’s all thought out must be cool to get four times the gifts on holidays. But much Like Daniel I had 4 parents to answer to wherever you messed up, which happened plenty. But I am extremely lucky to have four loving parents and unique perspectives for upbringing. And I can’t express fully hope important it is to me that they all get along amazing. That fact may be what I am most thankful for as a age, no into my late 30’s. Thanks for the share Daniel!
Despite being just a year older than me, you look so mature and sophisticated. Thanks for this wonderful story and all these amazing tricks on your channel.

Look at how proud they are of you in that last photo! I wish that everyone would beu able to feel and know the same - that they are the pride of their parents , and that they are proud of their parents too. Lovely story deck effect!
Hi Daniel! This is such a beautiful routine, not to mention the story that comes with it. I really like your style :) Storytelling with cards is very powerful! I used it back in November as my birthday wishes for a 2 year old baby girl. Not as good as yours, but her parents, two of my closest friends, appreciated the video so much and can't wait to show it to her as soon as she grows up. My best wishes for your 2021. Cheers!
Great story, totally love the idea your parents had!! Two questions off the top of my mind 1. Why did your parents not opt to have any more children together? Was it age or were they happy with just one? 2. And, what are their numbers stored as on your phone?
Out standing! Great performance all around. Those comments of slander are not cool. They are the ones that are wrong. But this is America. Freedom of speech. Don't let it bother you one bit. Like water on a ducks back.
Hey Daniel, I've just found your videos and now I can't stop watching them. This is by far your best video. What a beautiful story! You and your parents are the best example that what actually matters in a family is love! Family is not about social patterns, it is about bringing and raising people together with love! ❤️ I'm your fan Daniel 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Greetings from Brazil! Hope to see you in a live show here when you're internationally famous 😁
Thank you so much! Such an important topic. I have a question, because my English isn't the greatest, so is there a specific term for a multiple parent family? My mother tongue is Finnish and your family structure is called apilaperhe (=clover family) in Finnish. 🍀🍀
Well, it can sometimes be called “co-parenting,” but there isn’t a super specific word for it. “Clover Family” is such a cool term for it though! We should totally adopt that in English.
I love watching your card tricks and your family story is fantastic and that you are able to just be able to explain that this is just a different normal is also great. It must give you tremendous satisfaction to explain your background to people. Such a brilliant ice breaker. Now I also have an atypical family background and I also love to explain it to people so I hope you won't mind my sharing. I was adopted soon after birth and grew up with Mum and Dad and my adopted sister. Later in life I was contacted by someone who it turned out was my biological father. He had gone on to marry my biological mother and they had three more children together before they eventually separated. Then my father remarried and had two more children by his new wife. Sadly his second wife died and he remarried and became a step father to his new wife's son. This meant that I now have an adopted sister, three biological siblings, two half siblings, and a step brother. Add into this mix the fact that my wife and I eventually adopted from China and now we have two generations of adoptees and my daughter (who presumably has family in China) had four parents and twelve grandparents (sadly not all living and not all contacted). If we throw race and nationality into the picture then the bulk of the people are white British but my father's second wife was Jamaican so we have some of that in the mix and obviously our daughter and her other parents and grandparents are presumably Asian Chinese. Then we have the fact that my adopted sister is living in France and we are in the Netherlands and I am now Dutch. A true spectrum and an immense source of pride for me and I can tell that you have the same pride.
In my country most people would find you and your family as immoral etc., unfortunately hurtful stereotypes are still around and alive here. I love your story, it's great, you and your family are the living proof non-straight people are the same as straight, there's nothing to hate of fear. Your routine is awesome I wish someday I would be at least 20% as good you. Keep up the great work, cheers to you and your family!
I just left you a great compliment on your Magic Castle Video. With your glasses on, you are a doppelganger for Kevin in Sin City! Great story about your family.
This is such a beautiful piece of art 😍 I loved so much listening to this interesting story while watching this smooth routine, thank you ☺ Love is all 💜🙏
I love your story, the first time i hear it was the intro to fool us. and it was not till a while later i came across the youtube channel. Apart from parents being cousins there was nothing much different about my childhood. We lived in a little village were every one new every one and to see a non white person was a rare happening, and even rarer still was to hear any one say any thing about homosexuals that was positive. My parents were the exception, So many differnet people came and went in our house, and the best thing was having every one from all these different backgrounds chilling out having a laugh togather. We learnt so much from eachother. So cool that today people can speak up and be proud of who they are (And who there parents are) i know we still have long long way to go. But we are i think we are making steps in the right direction and long may that continue. 4 parents! I can only imagen what a cool child hood thta must have been, not just your parents but the whole communitiy of friends and family you spent it with. Thank you for sharing.
FANTASTIC PERFORMANCE-WHAT A CLEVER WAY TO TELL AN EXTRAORDINARY STORY!! Your channel has become a 'go to' for me personally & your cardistry & tutorials are a must for every skill level-keep on keeping on 👏👏👏👍🃏♣️♦️ Dave.
I just watched this after learning a bit more about Trump's last rulings against LGBTQ+ community. Growing up I saw a teacher adopt and since then I always wanted to foster. Being reminded of prop 8 it gives me hope that it can be fixed, sooner or later. This is a lovely story that you shared. Thank you.

This brought me to tears. So, so much love for you and your family ❤️💙💜💖
Such a beautifil message and a wonderful trick, keep doing it man can't wait for another video
This is actually really cool, thanks for sharing
In my country most people would find you and your family as immoral etc., unfortunately hurtful stereotypes are still around and alive here. I love your story, it's great, you and your family are the living proof non-straight people are the same as straight, there's nothing to hate of fear. Your routine is awesome I wish someday I would be at least 20% as good you. Keep up the great work, cheers to you and your family!
This is a work of art, man. I loved every moment :)
Super cool story! Thank you for sharing.

I just left you a great compliment on your Magic Castle Video. With your glasses on, you are a doppelganger for Kevin in Sin City! Great story about your family.
💜💜💜💜 it's always lovely to see alternative family structures
I misread this as "I have your parents" and got curious about the magic behind locating and abducting a stranger's parents
Beautiful story and presentation ! Thank you for sharing your magic, and much more than that🙏🏻 Cheers to you and your family )))
Huge respect to you and your family
Wasn't expecting this kind of video, but it was awesome, and your family sounds awesome.

This needs to go viral
Story’s like this show how wonderfully diverse the world is and could be if we can see past our differences
Thank you for this. All the best !
Very good storytelling. Using the cards in such a magical way. I love it.
I'm so glad I found your channel. So heartwarming! Love it!
Thank you.
That's so sweet! You're family sounds amazing btw. They obviously love tf out of you lol.
What a beautiful idea to mix your story with your passion! Respect for the presentation and thanks for sharing! :)
