Frank's new design makes no sense, he looks older than how he looked in Dead Rising 4, and in Off The Record it made sense he would look different compared to DR1, since DR2 takes place 5 years after DR1. Those of us refusing to buy a censored remaster from a company in Capcom, that are influenced by DEI and ESG, which has been proven evident by their recent catalog of games, is understandable, we rather not see a beloved series turn into modern day propagandist slop.

Im genuinely curious about the average time played on the original dead rising by the loudest critics. If you love the original dead rising you will really enjoy this game. The censorship is unfortunate, but the graphics and quality of life improvements more than make up for it. Dude same, I have no issues with the race swap for the butcher or the removal of the erotica since it doesn't impact the story other than the side mission with the photoshoot but the Cliff dialogue is just ridiculous and is a clear over correction still going to play the game since I absolutely love dead rising and wish for its return hopefully see the same treatment for DR2 and off the record and want to show the is actually support for these games but I'm afraid the damage might unfortunately be done hopefully not though
Im with you, TJ is the ultimate Frank West voice but I dont play Dead Rising games because of the voice acting, Its not like the last of us or red dead where the voice acting is what make the game special, Im sure many of us play Dead Rising because of its unique gameplay design and tge fact that you are surrounded by zombies.

Playing it right now and it's actually really good, the changes to the gameplay are awesome and they've balanced the weapons so you can't just spam the mini chainsaws to win. Frank's new voice is fine too, didn't need to be changed but the new guy feels like frank. Games fun.
The comparison with Leon doesn’t work. It’s not a new take on frank, it’s the same character word for word. It’s not a remake. Brad got done worse than frank, his VA is not bad, it’s atrocious.

I haven’t gotten the chance to play DR 1 yet. I have the Bundle with 2 & 2:OtR on PSN. And I’m not gonna lie…I am happy with DR is getting attention again when you consider how much Y2K Media is getting attention is really nice. And even I’m not mad TJ is not Voicing Frank. It’s cool that the torch is being passed. As for the reason why people are giving a stink about it….DR has always looked Realistic (albeit a bit rough) and it’s not my jam…but I respect it is because DR was perfect for modern day games. As for the people getting ticked off are “Purists” and “Grifters” (Bonus Points for Gooners for the Erotica Points and coming from a degenerate at times…even I think it’s no skin on my nose) And yeah, I think Larry’s Redesign ain’t that bad. Plus, even I think taking out much of his stereotypes are pretty good.
I think fans are frustrated because they just want to play the same game they remembered so fondly , but with updated mechanics and visuals. I honestly don’t think that’s too much to ask for. Yes, they can pickup the 2016 versions, but I remember going back to Metal Gear Solid 2 after 15 years, getting a PS3 and buying the HD remaster: I really struggled with the mechanics as I was so used to modern controls and had completely forgotten how restrictive those controls were, and by your own admission, the controls on DR are pretty outdated and janky now. I’ve never played these games, and although I’ve got no base for comparison for what’s stylistically better, the fact they changed more than just the mechanics and visuals, going into the content itself for presumably “modern audience” reasons is why I’ve decided not to give this game a try, it’s happening far too often in my opinion. Just to say, I know full well that Metal Gear Solid 2 will get a remake within the next few years, and some of the perceived problematic content will be removed just because awful people who have no interest in playing the game, will find out about things they don’t agree with and kick up a fuss. Unless we make a stand, gaming will continue to get more expensive (due to bureaucratic bloat) more safe, less fun and less rewarding. It’s the principle.
