mainly because "Punk" means "amateur" so the style of it is that: the rythm and beat are easy to learn and the singing doesn't require a very beautiful voice to play

1-4-5 was used up in Jimmy Reed's day. You can find all of Green Day's hooks on old Kinks records. Hank Williams already wrote all the pop songs.
The new part... the part that's "yours" is the attitude and style. There are prob still a few melodies to be written.

Even though I now mostly listen to metalcore, I grew up on SUM 41, The Offspring, Blink 182 and Green Day, so it's always nice nostalgic trip to the past. Thx for the video mate. :)
Good video. But 30 Seconds To Mars is not pop punk. They are alternative rock.
Green Day, minus the trilogy, is Punk Rock. And in all honesty, so is Offspring.
I understand there are songs that GD has that is 100% pop punk but overall they're more punk rock, especially from the 39/Smooth era to the Insomiac Era.
I suppose you could call warning more pop punkish, and to a lesser extent Nimrod.
American Idiot is 100% punk rock, with one emo song being boulevard of broken dreams
21st century is mostly punk rock
RevRad is punk rock once more. Youngblood and still breathing is more pop punk but all the other songs are punk rock.

@@danielt9744 it depends on your vision of pop punk. The difference is all (or almost) in the lyrics, if they are about girls and having fun it's usually pop punk, if it talks about struggle or being pissed off or even something deeper it's punk rock

Yop Lol of course it isn't pop, i think it's alternative, too and the term "pop-punk" doesn't mean pop & punk, as in a pop-punk song is "a bit pop and a bit punk," but rather that it's more melodic, different lyrically etc. than punk rock, at least the way i see it. pop-punk is still a subgenre of rock and more specifically punk. writing this in a hurry so i hope i'm making sense, haha
