i’d argue it’s a HUGE comeback man, especially with the massive presence it currently has in mainstream culture (ie Dear Maria re-entering the charts thanks to TikTok) and pop/hip-hop artists having a crack at the genre themselves you love to see it
@@mariant4673 honestly I don’t like MGK all that much, idk if I’m missing anything, but it feels like there’s not a lot of work out into it, like Blink, and Green Day has some work behind their songs, even in their earlier days you could tell they tried their best, but MGK just feels super empty.

Tbf if it weren't for them being neatly fixed to their genre, most pop punk vocals (or any punk movement) would be constitute as "not good". Its why pop punk was so big in the '00s, its for the regular schmoe who wants a platform to be heard.
I shit on Greenday but their music before they lean onto more rock-leaning sound was like one of the life soundtracks from my late childhood and early teenhood. I honestly wouldn't change a thing about it.

Literally anyone can sing pop punk. The vocals are terrible in the genre. It’s barely even singing most of the time.
