    You guys should mention , you can jog and touch off the tools with the door open. You'll need the Level 2 key for the control panel tho . Can you show how you guys indicate your y-axis to zero (on tools on center and on double stack capto blocks) . I have my way but I wanna see how you guys do it . Thanks!

      Co axil indicator. Bring X down and get it reading as close as possible to, switch to Y mode bump it a click or 2, move X again, rinse and repeat till indicator reading is as close as possible. Boom

      @@joey.cnc. I think the coaxial is your quickest bet. Just get close and dial it in with a few clicks. But I guess it also depends on how accurate you want the alignment.

    If you have a smartkey with level 2 , 3 or 4 hit the corresponding number on the right side of the control and you will be able to jog the tools with the door open. Much easier to see what is going on that way.

    how do you touch off in the y axis? I know there must be a way, but i cant get the y axis to move with the tool probe down.

    • @kisspeteristvan
      @kisspeteristvan 11 месяцев назад

      maybe you don't have a 3d probe , only x , z . Maybe that's an extra option .

  • @MichaelRapp_Lichtgeplauder

    Also, the machine won't start turning its main motor/ lathe when Y- axis isn't zeroed out.
    within the nc code it's the line G28 V0 that insures the Y- axis is set to home. Always initiated before turning begins.
    This can be turned off, however, deeeeeep down under the hood in the parameter settings.
    Advantages can be, i. e. if you use stacked tools (like some Sandvik Capto tools), or if you have a gnarling tool - to set it can be a female dog, but if you have libereated the y- axis, it's just a matter of a few seconds.
    Downside being, the parameter freeing the y- axis from liberating while turning is also the same one ensuring that you can only probe when Y is set to reference.
    Which can really mess your values up if you have the usual DMG composite X/Y- Axis configuration.

    • @grant625
      @grant625 2 года назад

      Codes M611 (interlock off) and M610 (interlock on) control the y-axis interlock, these can be added in the cycles.

      You can't sir, not on this machine... The machine spindle will not operate with the door open... Only way it can be done is by acquiring a level 4 key from manufacturer, which is mainly, and rarely, used by service guys...😳 You could however remove the door switch key from the top of the door and stick it in and out as needed, but this is very dangerous. You do get used to boring jaws with the door closed though and soon after you will be doing it with a program... 😆

      Parallel to spindle only gets probed on lenght , measure dia with calipers , or enter a rough for eg. 1/2 dia +0.01" for safety . Perpendicular to spindle gets probed on lenght&lenght , as in lenght from turret , and lenght from centerline - Tool dia is also taken into account , but some machines could handle this differently . I'm sure there are smarter ways to do this for the perpendicular tool , but usually we use no more than 2-4 driven tools ....

    • @austink5620
      @austink5620 4 года назад

      At the shop I worked at we had a 1/2" dia dowel pin in an er collet holder and used that to probe the center of our live tools (subtracting half diameter from touchoff). We also used a blake co-ax held in spindle jaws to find y zero
