Ignorance of the laws of the country you are visiting is no excuse. Laos for the most part is a beautiful country. This goes for the Laotian people as well. You have to realize that the Laos China railway is an international railway subject to the same security as international airlines. As white tourists you are open to scams by some corrupt police. You need to research the countries you visit better. I understand your anxiety at them taking your passports. It happened to us in Shanghai China, after our flight was rerouted. It’s a scary moment. Before our connecting flight was boarding, our passports were returned. To this day I don’t know why they took are passports, no explanation was given. Perhaps they thought we were criminals or drug dealers. This problem you had could have happened in many countries, not only Laos. One of the downsides of international travel.
You guys spent lot of time in Thailand. Seems you came to Laos with negative views energy. Thais probably told you not to go to laos , they don't want your tourist dollars to leave Thailand. Something tells me you plan Laos trip to have this outcome!
Whatever’s telling you all that, couldn’t be more wrong. We came excited to tour around and explore the beauty of Laos. I heard and many could back it up if you live in this country..its not uncommon for their employees not to get paid for months and sometimes be given rice instead of cash. Vaping in Asia is not the same as in the West it is dangerous drugs and substances they use over there from the neighboring countries. Sure to you was innocent but it's a major problem for them…. I believe Myanmar is too. In Singapore, you can't chew gum or spit on the street and get a fine 10 times…know the law before you go.
The same thing happened to me today at the train station in Luang Prabang 😢 I payed so that I got my passport back and they confiscated my vape, but it was all under the hood, I got nothing official that shows that I payed the fine. Furthermore they made a photo of my passport. I'm still in the country and I'm worrying that I could get more problems when leaving the country, as they could probably send the picture of the passport to the police. I just hope that they do let me go and I can leave the country.
Oh no! That sucks… So unfortunate they seem to just target foreigners like that. If it gives you peace of mind, we had no issues in leaving the country and was never mentioned when we got to the airport
Yeah, we loved our time in Panama! 🇵🇦 Gonna be in this region of the world for sometime, but will definitely come back eventually. There’s a few places there for us to still explore! 🙂🙌

Yeah, lesson learned for sure!
If it gives you peace of mind, we had no issues in leaving the country and was never mentioned when we got to the airport
sorry to hear that guys, you guys have do some reseach, vape is illigal in most county in Asia, im sure the cop's crook as well.
This is not high speed bullet train😂man.
Yep, that is the Laos-China speed train from the boarder to Vientiane that we took that day
Bullet Train are not necessarily mean high speed
Hi, I am Indonesian. In a next few weeks, we are open HSR for trial. Kindly please come and try the comfortable of Indonesia. 🙏😊
That sucks should stay in Panama
Yeah, we loved our time in Panama! 🇵🇦 Gonna be in this region of the world for sometime, but will definitely come back eventually. There’s a few places there for us to still explore! 🙂🙌
Just pay. If it can be solved by 100 dollars, then you are lucky.
That’s what we did. It’s just unfortunate that the authorities take the law into their own hands and put out whatever “justice” they feel like that day
Rubbish title
Can’t please everyone 🤷♂️
Can't accept the truth?
Great info , have been looking into a trip in January, defo corrupt scum , will not bother ,
Thanks 4 vid
Beautiful country, just need to watch for certain things and be aware of how all the laws differ
You need to know the laws before you travel to a country
Good advertising to stop vaping
So you went during rainy season, knowing that it was rainy season then you complain, hmmm not very smart of you.
Then you break a law then complain about it, maybe you should've done more research. And you add a click bait title.
😂
As we said in the video, we did know it was rainy season, and we know now it’s against the law. What’s also against the law is extortion…
Thanks for the comment 🙂
This is not a disaster. An extortion from corrupt officers, yes. As experienced travelers, you ought to have known better. Ridiculous clickbait.
Middle speed train.
😂
