- Here is the full DH run of the YT Izzo from our Short Travel 29er shootout. The Izzo is fast and maneuvers like a blade with its agile and playful character . The Izzo showed that is a great blend of climbing efficiency as well as capable to handle some more technical trails so long as you alter your expectations a bit when things get gnarly. It wins in the looks category as well as value for dollar.

bro Im loving my Izzo
It's a sick bike.....coil? Lol
@@StraightLine_MTB I wish Bro. can't find one that fits lol. But im going to swap the suspension with RockShox front and year.
You were flying on that thing. I am going for a ride now. Thanks for the motivation!
It's a greased bullet...so fast. Thanks for watching Paul.
Seemed like the acceleration on that thing was out of this world!
The Izzo is a snappy pedaler. It comes out of corners like a cat heading for an open door lol.
@@StraightLine_MTB that’s a great analogy 😅
@@StraightLine_MTB Dammit... that's the best/worst analogy I've heard in a while. My lil sucker sneaks out every time! Also can't wait to feel the snappiness (just built my Izzo yesterday)
@@briang43 😆. Yeah you're going to love this bike. So much fun. Send us a picture of your build on our Instagram when done. Congrats on a great bike.
I love the look of the Izzo. She a sexy beast. Dude that berm at 3:08 is all f'ed up. I like watching how these short-travel bikes handle Rocky Trail. It's got some gnarly sections.
I think the Izzo is one of the best looking bikes out right now. Surprisingly these bikes can handle quite a bit so long as the rider can...lol.
You blazing 🔥🔥🔥. The trail mi amigo! Thanks to blind eye MTB I found your channel! Thanks for sharing, looking forward checking out your future clips!! 🤙🏽👍🏽👊🏽💥🙌🏽
Awesome, glad you found us. Thanks for stopping by and watching!
Thanks for your review...love it ..Izzo vs Spur can't decide now , oh well does not matter, not in stock anyway
Both excellent bikes. Right now I'd go with the one you can get sooner. Thank you for watching
Man I've been watching your channel since I sold my nukeproof scout to get some good insight we ride the same trail and what not I managed to get a frame up build of a 2021 commencal meta am I really wanted the TR but I feel like I'm gonna put the hurting on this rig so it should be stout what I'm trying to say is thanks for the straight forward real reviews I've always wanted a Commencal it's just nice to see it perform on locals trails hope to see you out there sometime
The AM is a terror on the trails. It will have you riding bigger things with ease. Hit me up on Instagram, I'm always up for a team ride.
Sick! "Clappy" lol I like that
Lol.....sometimes it's hard to put together the right words in the middle of battle. My vocabulary is limited lol. Thanks for watching.
@@StraightLine_MTB Haha good stuff though I like that one 👍
Thanks for the reviews. Just purchased the Izzo pro race. The bike ride so nice. Fast up and down. Only small nit pick would be tire spec and cable length. Otherwise flawless
I agree on tires. This bike really deserves a bit more aggressive tires but the forekasters are fast rollers. Thanks for watching
My two tire setups so far are Dissector in the front and Rekon in the back for faster rolling, or DHR II in the front and Dissector in the back for more grip. But really the DHR II/Dissector rolls awesome with a lot of grip, I've left it on there for a while now and love it.
@@Hardcaslte both of those combos are great. Our trails have rocks that like to cut tires and dent rims so thicker tires are a must for me. I do like more grip as well, really opens up what the Izzo is capable of.
tearing up that trail!
We need to get you out
Love your channel bro,
Is the Izzo’s plush at all? Like at least off the top or is it all support all through the travel?
Thanks
The Izzo isn't super sporty but with the 130mm travel it isn't going to give it up quickly. On the downs it is more forgiving that you would expect and can handle some chunk so long as you are ready to pick good lines and pump. Comparing it to to say the Polygon T7 with only 5mm more of rear travel, the Izzo will feel less smooth in chunk. In return you will notice a very fast and light climbing feeling that makes up for not being a plow wagon. I think for a light to moderate all rounder it is a great choice. Also look at the Spur which is one of my favorite bikes I've reviewed. Thanks for watching.
I just nabbed a preorder of the Izzo Core 2, very similar price to the Ripley AF in Canada. I only wanted it for next spring so the timing isn’t a big deal. This said, I’ve been out fo the game for a long time. I fully expect to be all out on climbs and more flowy single track and then be a little timid with the downs. This said, Izzo Core 2 w NX Eagle and part carbon frame (about 2lbs lighter overall) or the Ripley AF with Deore and DW Link?
The Izzo would probably be lighter and little better climber. The Ripley would descend a bit better. I'd prefer the Deore over NX. Ibis warranty and customer service probably easier to deal with. Both great choices with slightly different character.
I was going thru the same dilemma. While I might have preferred the Ibis, you can’t find them, and who knows when you will be able too?! . At least YT Izzo you can pre order and says it’ll be here Feb 2022. So Izzo for me it is.
@@davidm6751 Nabbed a Ripley AF and while I don’t have anything to compare it to, I couldn’t be happier. Given my experience, I’m sure I would have been equally happy on the YT. Good luck!
@@bryansirois181 exactly. At the end of the day I just want to be out there. I’m not a pro, these tiny differences aren’t going to matter. both are good bikes IMO
@@davidm6751 Izzo is a great bike and so fun and poppy.
These trails look so great! Which bike do you usually grab when going out for a ride?
Lately my go to has been the Spur but the Izzo is great as well. Spur just feels comfortable and climbs so well.
@@StraightLine_MTB Love your reviews! These trails look rad! I am digging my Ripley AF, but it's my first step back to a 29er in 5 years. I still have a sweet spot in my heart for 27.5's.
@@lazylearner967 Yeah, I've been on 29 for just over a year and love them. I may shake things up and bring in a 27.5 for fun.
What’s your opinion on the bikes now a year later? I mostly have my eyes on the izzo since they’re by far the cheapest option on the used market.
I've moved the bikes but did have good amount ot time on each. You really can't go wrong with any of them. Izzo is a great choice but Spur owns the #1 spot for in the shorter travel category.
@@StraightLine_MTB Thanks for the comment man. Great hearing from your perspective since it seems like you're one of the few that have dropped the coin to try all three haha. Did you move onto something better? Did you feel like downcountry bikes ultimately held you back? I'm currently trying to dial down from my 150mm fork bike and hoping that I won't run into any limitations. Obviously depends on individual riding preferences but wondering if you found greener grass with another bike
@@dho I regularly move bikes to try new ones. I don't usually have a specific category in mind just grab what's available. The "downcountry" category is interesting. They get up the hill quickly but still have a little reserves for the downs. I fell in love with the Spur as it had a bigger feel that helped make up for the short travel. Any bike can take you about anywhere you want to go but it's the rider's perspective on what is the right bike for them. A lot of riders over bike and I've seen amazing rider's on hardtails hitting chunk. I love long travel bikes but there's something to be said about a good 135-140mm bike to do all.
It is possible to change the rear shock for a different fox shock or maybe a rockshox ?
I've seen someone run on Ohlins air shock and you could probably run other non piggyback shocks. There is limited clearance and you cannot flip the current style shock as it won't fit due to the shock link.
@@StraightLine_MTB thanks man, cuz I tried to flip it but like you said there’s no room enough and I guess going for a higher price fox shock it’s going to have the same results, I was trying to replace the factory shock cuz mine is leaking some oil and always have to adjust the sag cuz I guess it’s leaking air too.
@@jorgeamoranza3831 Did you reach out to Fox? Sounds like a warranty issue they can take care of. If you are looking for a replacement check out the Manitou Mara (non pro version). That would be a shock I would love to try.
@@StraightLine_MTB I’ve contacted yt so far but the warranty claim process is a pain in the butt, but I definitely going to contact fox about that and I’ll look for the shock you’re recommending, another thing, have you noticed a vibration coming out from the rear hub when you go down the road? I ride pretty much on the road, I can feel it all the way up to the seat, do you think it’s normal?
@@jorgeamoranza3831 Going directly through Fox is the fastest way to get it handled since YT will direct you that way. What model do you have? If it is the Pro Race I have seen early reports of issues with the EXP hub drivers which may be the issue.
Is that a wrist protection on your left wrist?
Yes it is. It's made by All Sports Dynamics. I had a very bad wrist break so this helps from re-injuring it.
@@StraightLine_MTB Which model you have?
@@shate74662000 the OH2 is what's in this video. I also have a custom Extaflex. Mobius also makes a less expensive model that does a similar job but have not tried one yet.
Where are these trails?
Auburn California. Great trails out here.
