    Great interview Mover! And thanks so much to Organ for sharing his stories - I felt my stomach sink when he recounted the feeling of settling toward the water with the bow of the carrier above him after that cat launch!

    Organ is the aviation equivalent of a combination of Jerry Clower and Jerry Reed! That Louisiana humor and the story telling combined with all the experience and knowledge, great interview!

    Great video series!! I grew up across the street from Rick’s family in Louisiana and had the honor of calling him a friend as adults… he’s shared some flying stories but nothing like this. Amazing career!! Btw his dad has a ton of hours of flight and heroic stories too - aircraft greatness is in their blood!
    Thanks for sharing!

      Jimmy! How the hell are you? It’s been too long.
      I still get down to Houma from time to time. We still have a house there while I finish building my Houseboat.
      Try calling the airport or my Brother and give me a call! It’d be great to catch up.

    Great interview. I’m older and quit flying (civilian) a long time ago. Just great to hear a veteran pilot who has so much experience. Mover and Wombat has great stories too. This Veteran spoke freely and is an inspiration to all young pilots.

    Mover have you heard of Brian Shul? I suspect you probably have but if not a quick search of the interwebs on RUclips you can find him quite easily. He's an Air Force veteran fighter pilot who flew several platforms and ended his active career in the SR-71 and was a back seater with the Blue Angels as a photo correspondent.
    That would be a great interview for the channel.

    I love flying the Tomcat in DCS. But there is one question that always bugs me: Why does the Tomcat roll reverse when you add aileron in high angles of attack? Because from what I understand about roll reversals, is that the downward deflected aileron has more drag than the one deflecting upwards so it makes the nose yaw in that direction. However, the Tomcat has spoilerons and has no downward deflecting aileron. So what causes the roll reversal?

  • @laanderud

    Got a Navy question. I watched a RUclips video a few weeks ago where they showed a pilot getting into his jet on the carrier flight deck in the middle of a monsoon. Is it common for pilots to get into planes with the pilot and cockpit getting completely soaked? I can't imagine that being a very comfortable flight or good for all of the electronics.

    • @thecatdaddy1974
      @thecatdaddy1974 2 года назад +1

      If you ever had kidney stones,when they hit you, there are times you want someone to shoot you. You curl up in a fetal position and just cry. There is no warning when they hit. I was driving when I got my first one. Its a thousand wonders i didn't crash trying to get home, I actually didn't make it home barley made it to the ER.I would think you don't want your pilot to have them while flying

    • @dannyzuko9967

      Pulling gs can dislodge stones. They can be super painful to the point where you aren’t going to be able to fly the airplane

    • @bargie38
      @bargie38 2 года назад +1

      Does he mean you can’t fly with current kidney stones, or can’t fly ever once you’ve had stones? I’m a military pilot (don’t fly anymore) that had a stone in a ground job and holy crap!! Never experienced pain like that ever. Does that event now stop me from flying again even in a civilian capacity?
