good to see your cooking again Rus these look good . We have a Chinese restaurant near by they sell these in the appetizer section they are different they put the shrimp paste in between 2 squares of fried bread

I'm good with that. Although I remember that Aqua Velva was labeled as an "aftershave", not a cologne.

No, I was talking about if you have had this back in the 70's, then the second you taste it now days, it will trigger instant memories of back when you first had it, similar to smelling a cologne that you wore 30 years ago. It instantly brings you back to that time.

Absolutely LOVE Prawn Toast!!!
I make mine with some tiny North Atlantic, peeled Prawns mixed with some really rich flavoured Brown Shrimp, blitzed up with a little MSG and a little beaten egg.
Schmeared onto some common or garden White Bread-crusts removed, of course!
Then dipped in sesame seeds and deep fried….My Cardiologist despises me but…They’re soooo tasty!!!
I worked at a place called Orient Express in Maryland, early 80's. It was take out only on the side of the actual sit down resturant. I only sold a few of the most popular items. Shrimp toast being one. They never used fresh herbs and the shrimp part was twice the thickness of the bread. They also deep fried the whole piece of bread with the shrimp on, then cut diagonally twice so ya ended up with 4 triangles which made for a cute presentation. They sold out faster than the rest of what was in the steam table. They must have been good. I never tried them, didn't like shrimp at that time. I do now though. Besides, I was to hooked on their chicken wings they were the best wings I ever ate. I also loved their pork fried rice with sweet & sour sauce drizzled over it. If I recall correctly a serving of shrimp toast, only 2 pieces, was $3 and change. Bit pricy for what it was in the early 80's. But those cooks couldn't keep up with the demand.
Might have to try this now that I do like shrimp. Looks tasty.

this looks great but prepares for Elsa she is getting close have a great 4th if Elsa doesn't spoil the plans and keep safe and be kind to the veterans who are dealing with PTSD too and remember why we are still able to celebrate our holidays too.

Hello Rus, just popped over from Jill's kitchen to check out your shrimp toast. I remember these, we still get them here in the uk, mostly from the numerous Chinese take away restaurants. Homemade are fab and yours look delicious!
