Louis my dude, you make so much effort to take care of your health in terms of your lifestyle... make the same effort with safety equipment! think how many athletic greens you need to drink to offset that metal and toxic paint dust that's now in your lungs
Sometimes I worry that Louis isn’t adequately protecting himself in some of these projects - shouldn’t he have a mask of some sort when grinding/sanding the rust?
Completely wrong mask for what he's doing, he's not even wearing it correctly and that's when he does because the majority of the shots it's around his neck.
Really cool project! I definitely recommend you get the full face mask/respirator with the appropriate filters. They are so important to wear! And done ear protection is a great idea too as you work in the echo chamber! I can’t wait to see it all come together!
You should wash your eyes out with water or Saline solution (for contacts) instead of rubbing them because the tiny metal dust particles will scratch the surface of your eyeball and could lead to infection.
As a healthcare professional, it only takes once. I wish people would wear safety equipment. It would surprise ppl, the extensive damage and even d*ath I’ve seen from ppl doing jobs like this and not wearing proper protection. This makes me sad. 😢
The slow and steady upgrading of tools as the task becomes real is so totally relatable. Eventually I've learnt just to buy the proper one first rather than even considering slumming it with the cruddy tools.
We built our house and rentals Sea Casa Samara down here in Costa Rica 6 years ago out of 40 foot containers. Lanco here sells a paint called Coolguard which reduces the heat about 16 celecius, they have a roof version as well. To keep extra heat out use their white paint for the container.
Do you have air dehumidifiers installed? They work wonders for the tropics. All the humidity in the air gets separated and poured out though hoses (use linger hoses here so the water ends up far away from the “foundation”. Literally liters every 24hr are being pumped out from an area of that size which protects not just the belongings but interior walls, desks, chairs, fabrics anything from getting moly, discolored etc. Air ventilation is not enough in the tropics imo. I only saw a drastic change after the dehumidifiers. You can buy them at the store, just install hoses onto them so theres no risk of the machine overflowing with water inside the area. I still believe he needs a proper foundation underneath the container. What do you think? I’m rainy season with loads of rain and storms, and it sits directly on mud can5 be a good thing. the interior nice and dry.
I was once using a grinder with a concrete cutting disk. I was cutting a gap in concrete on a garage conversion and while cutting I hit a steal rod and the grinder slipped and hit my hand. Luckily I was wearing gloves. As the gloves stopped it from doing too much damage. I still caused some damage to my hand. But nothing that couldn’t be fixed. Always wear safety gear.
Damn Im coming back after watching Louis when he was flying in a plane with a friend around and then when he got together with Raya when they used to post daily . What a insane update when i saw this in my recommended. Glad to do youre still having insane adventures and doing well.
You should have buried the container, had steps go down to it for many reasons. 1st it would keep it cooler in there, you know black absorbs heat. 2nd for security reasons, it’s harder to see from the street. 3rd it leaves you more space above ground and it’s not an eyesore 👍🏼
Looking forward to following this Louis!!! Quick warning though, The grinding sparks are gonna imbed themselves so easily on your car (especially the glass) and rust, gotta cover the car! Also those cheaper hole saws blunt in seconds on steel in a high speed drill.
I am always so impressed by your work ethic and the way you problem solve without giving up. No task is out of reach for you, you always go for it and figure it out. I wish I was more like you 👍🏻
I can’t see my comments I tried to post several times? I saw a show where the couple renovated a shipping container into comfortable tiny home air bnb. They made it comfortable from baking in the hot Texas sun by putting light wood on outside and covering metal on inside with drywall. It was beautiful and stayed cool.
Louie, if you ever need an MRI, make sure your physician orders a facial/eye X-ray before. This is just to make sure you dont have any metal in your eyes. Yes, you can have metal in your eyes and not feel pain. Retired nurse speaking, also hubby had metal in his eye from 15 years peior to MRI
You are bring in hummus air. This will still cause mold and dampness. The space needs to be air conditioned to control the damp air which will lead to mold. Good luck
That definitely is some dirty work you are doing there. Great job just jumping in there and going at it! I would recommend the respirator though. The masks do not keep the micro particles out that mess up your lungs.
probably not helpful now ..but for the future, you can get rust convertor that you paint on - Fertan is a make you can get in uk. it does what it says on the tin. converts rust to good metal and then you can paint over it.
I was wondering when would see comment for this! I thought most knew this existed I'm just a mum who used it once on cast iron brill stuff & used to be used often on cars but then being a little older cars were more likely to become rust buckets in the
I'm sure you worked out that the first cutter is for flat surfaces. Only half of it was getting a grip. Please be careful about protecting yourself when you are working. I know you were hot, but you need to be in one piece to finish your projects 😊
Take your time to research what other people have done. Research materials, tools, equipment, process, etc. it will save money and time in the long run.
when grinding or trying to go trough with the hull saw cover your car! all taht metal dust will burn into the paint and start rust even the windows will be destroyed. also get a hullsaw for metal! i fu can find bosch carbide stuff go for it that would have taken u less then 5 sec going trough with one of those. :)
There is no doubt about your capability and perseverance and ingenuity in finding creatives solutions but you have to be WAY more cautious about the work you do. Just think about lead and rust particles getting into your system let alone flying disks, failing tools and all the rest. Much love and support, friend!
Ha! I just realized your thumbnail had the “after” version blacked out, not painted black. The whole video I’m thinking ‘are you crazy painting the outside black? You’re creating a virtual oven!’ I’m sure you know to paint the outside white to reflect the light to keep it cool as possible. Think black car vs white car. That’s why everyone in Phoenix and Florida drives a white car. Man the heat in CR is brutal.
As someone who works in the health and safety field... this is painful to watch. Safety first Louis, you're going to cause permanent eye damage and that metal/rust dust is definitely not good for your lungs.
Sorry but the lack of safety gear is extremely irresponsible. Please do a better job with protective gear Louis, i dont even know where to begin in this video...
I know they are your sponsor but why would you use a private, for-profit company for mental health support when you are from a country with free health care? This is why you pay taxes. Use the NHS.
How not to diy things.... Wow used to enjoy raya and Louis when they actually did things but now they don't travel or do anything very cool, anymore... Thought would watch louis do something.... Wish I hadn't this was dull, dangerous and generally uninformative and sketchy with safety etc. Won't be subscribing which is a shame your content used to be fun and enjoyable to watch. 😢

@@ginafranciosi3252 yeah I wrote this when he first started grinding
Completely wrong mask for what he's doing, he's not even wearing it correctly and that's when he does because the majority of the shots it's around his neck.
Any construction this guy does is the most dodgy thing to ever exist 😂
Louis! Look after yourself. To end the video in pain re your eyes? Safety goggles etc. are a must. These are not risks to take.

"I'm going to be super safe today" while having the protective shield removed on the grinder and having his neck exposed to any flying discs. 🙂

Louis that paint could have so much lead in it. You are going to get sick if you don't get that expensive mask ..
Wow, can't wait to see how the container will look at the end! Your perseverance is really admirable! Go, Louis, go!
How long it will last as well without a proper foundation.

In those kinds of temperatures, I'm not sure one fan that size is going to do it for a metal container?

This video was quite scary. The lack of safety, yikes!
A new video! What a treat this Sunday 🍬. Congrats on 2M subscribers Louis! 🥳
Literally breathing dust, paint and metal particle... What can go wrong ?

That was an excellent HOW NOT TOO, DIY 👍👍
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Louis is considerate to his viewers. He throws all his energy and money into terrible ideas to keep us entertained. 😂
We love you Louis 😂 you’re awesome 👏
Watching the struggle is so entertaining, ITS THE HOLE SAW LOUIS,,,not the drill. lol
I am always so impressed by your work ethic and the way you problem solve without giving up. No task is out of reach for you, you always go for it and figure it out. I wish I was more like you 👍🏻
I was sat here thinking wait he's drilling the wrong bit if he's doing it from the outside... Then he realises 😂
I love that you breaking stereotypes and talking about men’s mental health! ❤ that’s so important and inspiring.
Wow, those containers are tough. Great job though - well done for persevering 👏
2 million subscribers!! No wonder! Love these videos Louis! Your work ethic and creativity is applaudable! 👏
At 22:15 such a cool shot with the sparks going everywhere!
I can't help but think this whole build in Costa Rica thing is going to be a disaster.
What makes you say that
Sounds like you don't know Louis ;)
Louis please don't skimp on basic proper protection man. The small money saved now is not worth it in the long run. You need a proper mask at minimum.
Did u not see his mask, its HMS top 100. Cant get any better, if u ask me.
@@turji You have no idea what you are talking about, his mask is totally useless.

you need to be safe so you have a healthy happy future with your family, masks, gloves, hard hat etc.
Louis!! I think you need to throw on a mask too. It’s just cause we love you!! ❤
Oh, then you said it!!
Those are made of Corten steel, the rust is a good thing and actually protects it. As you can see it's exceptionally strong too. 😆😆

How about some hearing protection?
Containers are made from Corten steel, tough as old boots!
I was going to say the same. None of that rust was an issue as the type of steel only suffers surface rust.
@@Ed.R Yeah, it would probably be the easiest to just paint it with one of those paints that stop the rust from increasing.
@_TheDudeAbides_ The point is that due to the type of steel, the rust isn't really an issue. Unless he wants it to last like 30 - 40 years.
so scared about that wood! lol the jungle loves that stuff 😱
Congratulations for 2 m subscribers! 🎉🎊
nice shots with the sparks! really cool visuals

you're so handy and creative!
The metal dust flying around with no mask at first and then the paper mask is giving me serious anxiety! 😱
Thank you 😊
A cutting torch would have made short work of putting holes in that container.
Lovely jovely!!

Should've kept the container sealed and installed a dehumidifier or an airconditioner.
Respirator.... also skip the grinding and use rusty metal primer instead....
also oil goes on the tool not the surface
Use the torch to cut holes in container
Louis from Wild West Roam would bean maintenance resource for you
Use some seam sealer around the edges
Well done mate
That is a lot of work mate old the best mate.
I have to admit, I would have wood paneled it and injected foam in the ridges on both sides..
