This was wrong in so many ways most especially to paddle out without any means to keep you warm. As the advise goes "dress for immersion"....With sea temperatures of around 15 degrees if you had come out of the kayak so far from land the water temperature would have VERY quickly incapacitated you and made you hypothermic and even if you had got back into the kayak you had no means to warm up again. This would have meant that you would have to rely on the other two to get you back to shore. In addition your friend had a cranked paddle but was not holding it in the right place and the tow line was attached to the front and back of the kayaks which meant that neither of you could reach to unclip in the event of an emergency. All in all not a great way to encourage others to risk doing something similar. Also, it's a sea (North Sea) not an ocean and it's only 8 miles offshore not 20. If you are thinking of kayaking offshore in the sea or ocean or in anything other than benign conditions please get proper instruction and training first.
Loved this way of getting the message across, a peaceful way to share the message and have these discussions all whilst having an adventure. Great job!
I did the same thing with a friend but it was the North Hoyle wind farm off Prestatyn, about 18 years ago. We set off in thick fog, straight after a massive thunderstorm. We both had expedition kayaks with compasses and GPS as well as marine radio's (we both had marine radio licence's). The sea was absolutely dead-flat and the fog cleared just as we approached the farm.
There was a time when I stopped watching Louis when he left UK. Don't know the reason but Louis's adventure living in UK and filming his life is much much more interesting to watch than he travelling the world. or maybe I am just weird :). Great video this one.
When I was in the Boy Scouts as a kid we did long distance paddling with canoes and the whole trip to the island was into the wind and we were all spent so for the return trip with the wind one of us suggested lashing a bunch of canoes together and we had a tarp that was tied off to the cross beams of the outside canoes and we tied ropes to the top corners to make a sail and we were flying back across the lake. A couple scouts used their paddles as rudders to keep us on track. It worked brilliantly, the scoutmaster was pretty impressed too. Where are your tarps boys? It looked like a perfect onshore wind and you would be ripping in a kayak
Thank you for spreading the message of climate change. It is so important and really impacting so many people. I spent 5 weeks evacuated from my community this summer because of unprecedented wildfires in northern Canada. We are really seeing the impact of climate change in the far north. Over 4 million hectares burned this summer in the NWT in Canada.
I know Europe has come a LONG way ahead of America in terms of energy conservation. I wish we carried reusable bags etc. even just switching back to a really good cardboard bag in grocery’s would help. At least it wouldn’t take 500 million years to decompose like plastic would. All the stores would have to do it though. It’s a global effort that needs to happen and it’s sad because a lot of people when you talk about this stuff blow you off and call you a “tree hugger” or worse! Thank you Louis, for shining a light on a very important issue. Saving our planet should be of upmost importance to everyone! 🌍🌏🌎
So great to hear this optimistic discussion on renewables and the transformational transition coming our way in terms of electrifying everything! Nice one. However, I would welcome any thoughts on the amount of flying travelling RUclipsrs do i.e. Kara and Nate, yourselves, many others, when it comes to personal responsibility and the role modelling you are demonstrating to so many viewers. How do you reconcile this Louis? Must be a tough.
The flights they purchase are gonna fly regardless of if they're on them or not. But the work they do sharing the beautiful world we live in is important and I would say in some ways decreases consumer travel since people can get such detailed experiences now online.
The thing is that there isn't an alternative at the moment for flights (can't drive or get a train across the atlantic) so I always think that arguement is flawed. Of course if you fly private that's a different discussion.
“Find the way that works for you” is a good message on how each person can act to tackle climate change. If everyone picks a few things to focus on, we’ll make progress.
Great work guys, I don’t understand why you didn’t get into the water first thing though to give maximum light! There’s also evidence coming out of Germany suggesting off shore wind is increasing the temperature inland somehow, interesting but prob worth the price.
As others have said, please don’t try this at home. I’ve lived on the South Coast for 10 years and the sea, wind and tides are unpredictable. Without the right knowledge and support, you could find yourself in dangerous situations. Although this looks fun, I wouldn’t recommend. I’ve kayaked on this coast but wouldn’t venture 10 miles of the coast!
Cause anything that touches the water eventually breaks. Offshore wind gets a pass by having all the electrical and moving parts out of the water. On shore wind is cheaper, but awful people complain about it being "ugly". I think it's cool, slap em in every farm I say.
tidal power is definitely being worked on and implemented more and more. it's still technically challenging and so it's expensive as a result. I'm hoping that over the coming years the cost will come down hugely - for countries like the UK it could make a massive difference!
You are confusing a brand (OCean kayak) with where you can use a kayak. What you are referring to is a sit on top kayak which is a recreational kayak. They are using touring kayaks (albeit) short ones which has a hull shaped designed for open water. A sit on top kayak has a hull designed for stability and are frequently used for fishing. But I do agree, 20 miles off shore offers a lot of risk, and shouldn’t be undertaken lightly.
I'm shocked I don't see more people mentioning this. When I was young and naive I tried kayaking (with a cheap, $100 plastic, hollow kayak) just past the harbor and up the shore, and I capsized from the wind and almost drowned! This is so dangerous, couldn't believe Raya seeing them off with their newborn! I was nervous
I went clear glass kayaking in Key largo FL I finished the tour as I was getting off the kayak I got a major cramp in my cav of leg had the tour guide massage my cav was awful nobody in my tour group new what to do with me I was just sitting hopeless in the kayak with salt water in the kayak until it eventually faded away
you mention that with one of the 3 prongs that you should get an electric car or hybrid... Electric cars are way worse than for the environment than most modern gas cars
There was one in Norfolk you used to be able to climb. It’s a land one rather than a sea one and we couldn’t because there was a school group the day we were there. I think the Green Britain Centre is now closed but certainly a few years ago we went and hugged it like you’d hug a big tree like a Sequoia lol.
100% agree, them and old solar panels. The big ones that come off solar farms. It's disgusting really. They figured out a way to help the environment by destroying it in another way. SMH.
Well my arms are still recovering from that adventure! Amazing to see these turbines up close though!

Doing a 20 mile kayak on the first time trying it is insane. It took me a month of kayaking once every three days to work up to 12 miles lol
What a good hike my friend, beautiful landscapes.
People please take care! Cool adventure and all but pretty chillingly close to big problems. Glad no real problems occurred!

I’m not sure about this series safely seems to always come second lack of preparation is applauded
That’s a common theme for this channel from the very beginning. Louis doesn’t seem to put much thought into safety and precautions.
part of what’s made his life so exciting
I am amazed at how calm the ocean is. I rarely see that on my part of the Pacific Ocean.
It’s not the ocean, it’s the English Channel 😅
I was just thinking the same thing.

Thanks for the journey Guys. All of you were amazing. I truly appreciate you bringing all of us along 💛
Really fun and interesting way to get this message across Louis. I think you’ve hit on something here
there is no message only a lie created by globalists . being repeated by foolish, walking dead mk ultra victims

This was so relaxing. I could feel the calm right before you had lunch. I closed my eyes and pictured myself there. :)

Perfect conditions. I've paddleboarded it a few times.. Great sense on perspective when you're under them
I found 12:00 very hypocritical, from the guy who flew around the world in a twin seater for the hell of it...
I'd like to see you walk the entire UK. If I could quit my job, I'd join.
That was awesome! Such a wholesome, positive video. Thank you
What an AWESOME, AWESOME upload. I really enjoyed this, great visual content and interesting interview

Reminds me of when Jude Somers decided to paddle board the same journey!
This was great! The simple adventures are the best!
⚠8:14 yeah, but only those that don't BREAK & FALL DOWN ! 🌬
Peaceful Vibes 🙂
What kind of environmental damage does those windmills create on the ocean floor during installation? And is there any documentation on recovery?
I love chillin under the windfarm in Beaumont Ks
This reminds me when they took a boat across the English channel. Actually, im going to go back and watch that.
Pretty bloody cool you guys. 😎 ❤
Take quinine tablets to avoid cramp. It does work.
within the first few second of the video it’s mentioned it’s 8 miles off the coast, but the title says 20 miles from shore.. which is it
Well done guys! Massive achievement! XxX
I did this about 4 years ago kayaked to rampion myself and my friend but we did the trip on sit on kayaks not sit in ❤
any beetle conversion content coming soon?
I don’t know why everywhere doesn’t just use wind turbines to power as a cleaner energy source. Would just make more sense.
One day
What when it’s not windy?
I think having serious accurate numbers instead of generalizing would be good
Is this near margate - i live near Birchington and it looks similar
Soooooo proud of you guys…..👍👍👍👍👍
you guys are good friends!
Why we don’t harness the power and consistency of tidal power baffles me.
Cause anything that touches the water eventually breaks. Offshore wind gets a pass by having all the electrical and moving parts out of the water.
On shore wind is cheaper, but awful people complain about it being "ugly". I think it's cool, slap em in every farm I say.
@@marsrover001 have you seen a petroleum platform at sea? Right place, wrong energy source.

@@ClimateAdam it makes sense because humans tend to live near oceans.
very good video, many thanks for it!
Next up surfing Nazareth Portugal on a kayak
glad to see you're getting back to adventure again after a while. understand that you deal with the baby must be consuming a lot of time
“Deal with the baby” maybe parent a child
Seems strange that you started out so late in the day.
Bro you called it 20mi but in the opening you said its 8mi!? So is it 8, 16, 20 or 40?! Haha
Sounds like 8 miles straight line one way (they didn't go straight), 20 miles ish actual round trip total.
Just WOW 😯👍!!
Wow on this adventure episode
good time to have a trolling motor lol
Those are NOT ocean kayaks, which are airtight (don't sink) and you sit on top of instead of inside. Please don't try this at home

"please don't try this" who are you?? some over protected yank. grown men can make their own decisions

It's obviously an extremely calm day & sea and they were in a group, not as dangerous as you're making out
If I tried this at home I'd be a fish.
French law forbids us to go beyond 6 nautical miles in a kayak
Nicely done tiger
your dad taught me engineering for GCSE
Great video loved the 3 pronged attack idea.
Shocked you didn’t get offered a 5 star hotel when you got back
you mention that with one of the 3 prongs that you should get an electric car or hybrid... Electric cars are way worse than for the environment than most modern gas cars
This was unnecessarily dangerous
Pure luck you lads did not get into bother.
Really cool video
Omg Louis you are Cray Cray 😂😂😂Cheers LOL🎉❤
So dope
❤❤
I would have just climbed one of those windmills
We actually asked and needed special training 😭

I'm sorry but there's nothing to admire about that technology, it's very simple, and those turbines are honestly aesthetically ugly.
So fun
So not 20 miles off shore...
trigger finger when u get home drink some pickle juice n eat a couple bannanas
Cool
“These are the tallest wind turbines in the world.”
“These are?!”
“No these aren’t.”
Hmmm?
Do you wash your hair ❤
Muppets.
I guess feels like you sail on an alien type like planet
Isn't this like extremely bad for whales because did the sound??
I've noticed how vegans etc. run out of energy sooner than most omnivores on planet earth.

Good video but had to watch on mute to avoid the climate lecture nonsense
Everyone knows that it’s 6 miles to them turbines , false headline , you should change it !!!!
My problem is how they are being disposed of at the end of their life
100% agree, them and old solar panels. The big ones that come off solar farms. It's disgusting really. They figured out a way to help the environment by destroying it in another way. SMH.
Fake. They are being towed! Watch the video? The guy on the right is paddling one side almost the whole time.

only a trustafarian would refer to a wind farm as wonderful
