Yeah it's because he wasn't worried about where Jirko's guess was but rather about the possibility that he'd make a good guess later. He also didn't have a reason to conserve lives since it was the last round.
@@bapo224 i dont think you get it, if tom makes a guess that is further away from the point, his closest one counts as his marker, and the one he just did is disregarded. therefore, when the distance between him and the other dudes guess stayed that same, that should have told him that his guesses werent getting any closer because it was still using a previous guess as it was the best. so tom should have went in another direction, not north west

i was just like... is 13cabs a thing elsewhere? side note, when he zoomed in my town was on the map. sadly, not quite far enough in to show the name, or perhaps a line was blocking it out, but still cool
to be fair, this could happen anywhere. have a location near a border, guess right across the border, have an opponent guess the right country but the other side of it and youve got this happening
Correct area was what used to be correct country - but they've split up some of the islands to be areas in their own right, even if they are technically in bigger countries. You need to get your rating up to play with more challenging people!
I think it's also Geoguessr being more diplomatic while trying to have more complete world maps. Taiwan doesn't show up in country battle because it's contested (China claims it as China, other countries recognize Taiwan as it's own nation/true China). By saying "Correct Area" they get around this.
More of these battle royale game modes, please! It's so cool to see others go head to head in real-time. Different strategies with saving guesses and whatnot, pretty entertaining!
You should play this in "very hard" mode where you cover up the leaderboard so you never have any idea how safe you are or any idea about how far away/close other people are guessing.
@@keff_cb Its far harder than it sounds... Im not good enough to win with NMPZ (only NM) but I fancy my odds in a NM game over the "No Leaderboard" game, especially in the last rounds where if you are in last you have no idea if you need to move by a few blocks or an entire country.
@@mango_8102 Not really. Its more like Diverse World NMPZ on steroids because you are competing against people with more information than you, but you can make multiple guesses. For the "No Leaderboard" you probably need to allow moving for it to be fair, which can put you above not that great players, especially if you get urban environments.
Just as a bit of info, here in Denmark vehicles can be registered and have yellow plates, though if they are they're owned by a company and are for company use only, if they have white plates it's for private use and there's also some yellow and white plates which is a mix of the two (both for what they can be used for but also how it's registered)

The difference between "correct area" and "correct country" is that some countries have overseas territories that are very far from the main body of that country. They are the same country, but they count as separate areas.
At level 15 you get up to Silver, and people are so much better there! Rarely see someone get the country wrong there if it's not a really hard round. NMPZ will be a challenge, would be fun to see you try out some distance battle royale games then!
