Absolute no on the open air bathroom. No one wants to be eating dinner with any bathroom noises or smells

I love your homes Randy, but no wall between the bathroom and the other rooms has 2 big problems for me. One I don't wanna hear what is going on in that room even if you're my partner ..lol Secondly, when you do not close the lid when flushing, and many don't, the spray flies up into the air spreading fecal matter all around that whole house ; and the kitchen is right there.🤮 For some reason many don't seem to know this. I would need to put in glass block wall in that space.

I also think a barn door on the bathroom would enable you to have more storage, the swing of the door uses up too much room on that empty wall. A bank of kitchen uppers there would maximize storage potential with a place to put bathroom, linens and laundry supplies.
I wouldn't want a open ceiling over the bathroom it needs the walls all the way up atleast.

( My issue would be with the open ceiling in the privy. I'd consider putting a ceiling with a skylight in there? No one wants to share what's going on in the bathroom! )
Agreed. Imagine having guests and you needed to go and then the guests would hear you , or even worse, smell you. Not only that, when you flushed the toilet, wouldn't bacteria rise above and land on the food in the kitchen? That sounds like a recipe for nasty food poisoning.
Agreed, I don't understand the "airflow" thing, either. I take HOT showers, and I don't want that moisture leaving my bathroom. I want to ventilate that one small room and just be done with it.

I appreciate all of the light from the upper windows, but I still have a hard time wrapping my head around a bathroom with no ceiling. The lack of privacy regarding noise, um.. smells, etc. could be a bit embarrassing if there are several people in the house. There surely is a way to put a wall to the ceiling at the bathroom area and still allow the windows to bring light in.
its an absolutely beautiful build !!! love everything about the design except the sink being in the middle of the floor. just my opinion.

If they plan to keep the island, a single deep sink would function better & look much less awkward than this large double sink. The more space around a sink to set dishes, the better.
"Amanda" has absolutely beautiful craftsmanship and areas! But, I do not like the front door opening into a hallway! It really lacks the luster of walking into a beautiful area! Plus, it gives a claustrophobic feeling upon entry. 🥴 Please completely close in the bathroom, nobody wants to hear what goes on in there. It could also use a window in there. I really hope you haven't priced yourself out of the competition with this one! Yikes. 😮
We have plenty of affordable models that start at $25k. This model is for people who want to go tiny but can afford more but our pricing is still below the competition all across the country.
Sink should be under the kitchen window, let the island be an island and those lights above the kitchen window need to be different. Those are bathroom lights. That hall closet would be better used space if added to the closet in the bedroom. And while I love your windows etc, I think that bathroom being "open" like that is going to be moisture problems in main area of the house each time someone takes a shower.
Tom stated in the video that those lights were being changed out.
This is beautiful!! The sink shouldn't be in island. The island is not big enough, looks odd and no room to dry your dishes. Absolutely love the upper cabinets. Thank you for the video. Amanda where are you??
Agreed. The sink placement is awful. The sink should be under the window and the island on rollers so you can get it out of the way when needed.

I like the cupboard space just outside of the bedroom but I would rather sacrifice that and have the closet in the bedroom extend right up to the bedroom door instead. For a house that size it deserves a really big closet.
Still waiting to see two cottages as one. Kitchen front door in one. bathroom/laundry back door in the other….
This one is nice,sink under the window, plugs in island no tiny closet in hall full closet bedroom….i like the Bay Area in the living room, but it is useless with that huge piece of glass because you are not going to garden on indoor wood so to use it as a bench needs more support than a piece of glass. Being able to open a window there would be nice….every person I know with a picture window, has replaced it more than once ugh.
400ish sq. Ft. Is a tiny home that is very livable. A shed with plumbing is not the best as the years roll on…although ya all do your best with them, first world expectations lol
The bathroom light shouldn't be in the kitchen, the sink should be under window. The island should have plugs for appliances mixer etc. Add a loft. As a older person im 60 i wouldn't want a tub. Love the windows
Yes, I hate that Lowes $10 light. That light is almost in every kitchen, I think you get get your own, and they can install it.

Yes, move the sink. A double sink is good, but this is too small for large pots. I love my 70/30 sink.
And definitely close the top of the bathroom wall. Noise and odors travel, particularly in a small space! Glass is ok there but think about cleaning it. 😬
Door in bedroom makes it look cheap. Bathroom should be a walk in shower especially for older people. Ceiling fans look cheap. Don’t like the configuration of the Kitchen. Don’t like the white walls with the natural wood walls in this one. Some how this one just doesn’t look right. Just my opinion. I sure there will be people that love it. My favorite is the Charleston. You need to upgrade the light over the kitchen window. Anything would look better that that bathroom vanity light in a kitchen.
I totally agree with not using those lights in the kitchen. Very cheap looking.

We were in today to look at your homes and seen the Amanda. My favorite is still the Birmingham.
I’m not a hater, but just an observation. ITH seems to be lacking in design savvy. Finally a workable kitchen, but such a miss on the kitchen island as so many viewers have pointed out. The sink is off center and dated, there’s no prep space or serving space, and the island seems to protrude into the living space too far, especially if someone used dining stools. This is priced as a high-end tiny home, but it is sorely lacking in design and finishes.
Put the oven/stove where the sink is and put the sink under the window. I loathe a double sink. Bathroom must have a ceiling. No one wants to hear what's going on in there. LOL I wouldn't want a tub. Just a nice shower with a seat. NO exterior door in the bedroom. Waste of wall space. Not a fan of all the tiny cabinets and the corner cabinet is opening backwards from how I'd want it. It's got good bones, but it needs some improvements. Personally, I'd rather have a smaller bathroom and more space in the kitchen / LR area. Bedroom is a good size.
It's certainly pretty, but seemingly too little thought to the interior layout, so many issues.
I noticed the dw space right away, in theory nice. But isn't it too close to the island? can it be gotten in and out of the space? can the door open to load and unload it? Does it really need to be a standard one? There are too many cabinets that are too narrow to be practical and there's no access to the lower corner cabinet. Small refrigerator, small w/d spaces.
It's going to need expensive remote-controlled window coverings to have the bedroom dark enough to sleep at night if it's parked where there's any lighting around.
Impossible to keep any heat in the bathroom to take a hot bath or even a shower.
Then there's the little things, like the cheap bathroom light fixture over the kitchen window, no reason for it to be there.
Why would anyone put a toilet paper bracket so that it's behind the person sitting on the commode? Towel bar between the sink and door, then a towel ring between the sink and toilet, but nothing near the tub/shower? Kitchen and bath just look thrown together.
Beautiful home but for the price, I would probably buy a double wide.

It is beautiful. Love the size. Love a bathroom with tub. However, I hope there will be a version with a loft in the future and a fully enclosed bathroom. You might as well have an open bathroom in the living room because smells and sounds will be shared with everyone.

Opening the front door to a wall? Ick. Island is ugly. Kitchen sink should be under the window. Open ceiling in the bathroom? Hell naw. All this "indirect light" means it's not wired for much real lighting like sconces and you have to take up more room by having your own lights, like lamps. Hard hard pass... plus the price is ridiculous.
My gosh, has building material costs and home prices gone up that much? My in laws bought a 3 bd 2 bath house with a pool for only $37,000 more than that 5 years ago & additionally it also comes with the land the house sits on… & this is in a big city (Vegas).

LOVE it! However, just three things and it'd be perfect. Yes, the kitchen sink under the window. Did I see it correctly when walking in the front door you either look ahead at a wall or into the bathroom? Front door in the living area! Also, to me, no outside door into the bedroom. That is the last room I'd want people to walk into.
I believe the door is for walking out onto a deck for your morning coffee
I don't mind the sink on the island, although I'd prefer the cooktop there instead. I'd plexiglass the opening between bathroom and kitchen because that would bother me as much as the wooden door in the bathroom. It'd be more acceptable as a sliding glass door if using it as an exit to the back deck, then the view would replace art space lost. Finally, I agree walking into a wall on entry is a bit disconcerting. Shifting to the kitchen at least would help but the living area is better.
Love this. Sink under window and No to island bench. Make an L shape in kitchen with opening from the dead end of that L opening to the living room.

That's what I'd get, too. A great big roll in shower, and if I need a bath, get out an inflatable soaking tub that can drain into the shower when I'm finished. I don't like stepping over the side of the tub every day.

This is the largest model they have so of course the price will be higher. They have models as low as 25k! Look at those instead.

I asked them to build a Shaye's Tiny Home Hazel Model for me but they said they're not taking custom orders anymore (but we keep seeing them, so I just don't know). Honestly? At the price they want for this model, you can buy an amish built cabin delivered.
Randy is still doing great work and helping many people find long term housing and I will always applaud him for that. He's doing what works for the greatest number of people and one can't fault him for that ❤

I agree with Marcyfalconer1275. Beautiful sink, but get it out of the island! Put it under the window. Even if it means losing cabinets! The island is too valuable to have all that working space interrupted by the sink! Nice product though. Also, the white shiplap is so fresh & bright, why so much knotty wood?

Why not make a retractable plexiglass sliding door so people going pee and poo can have privacy? Who wants their fumes and germs floating over into the kitchen, let alone the noise?
In the corner of the kitchen where the two work surfaces meet at a right angle there is no corner cupboard down below so there is a void that isn’t filled with cabinets and it isn’t accessible from
The bathroom because the bathtub butts up against it. The water heater should be put in there with access from the outside with a lockable door freeing up space in the bedroom closet. Or you could ust put an outside door on it to use as a garage space. I know it’s a large tiny home but wasting a whole 2’x2’ space is a cardinal sin!

I suggest you either relocate or raise the fusebox, so it can be covered with some art or a cabinet. Personally, I'd put some plexi between the bathroom and the living area/kitchen ceiling. It's a beautiful home, bright and spacious.

I love how big the bathroom is but I do think an enclosed one would be better. It wouldn’t take away loads of the natural light either.
I hope maybe in the future you do another big model like this but allow for a mega sized closet. An 11/12 ft wide one, for really comfortable storage space. For a beautiful tiny home this big, it deserves that luxury.

After you add a front covered deack and covered back deck you can buy a home. Too much money for a one bedroom elongagated " teailer home" looks just like a prefab home. You need to stick to tiny homes. Was very disappointed in this, the price and all other comments about island a open bathroom. Love your tiny homes....love your show and you and Amanda, but think you dropped the ball on this one ❤❤ yall

Gorgeous❣️ I'd put a high clothes hang rod above a lower, in that bedroom closet, for 6' of hanging clothes space, and use a combo W/D with another clothes hanging rod above it (2 more feet) in the bathroom! I'd use the bathroom closet for linens and toiletry storage with deep pull out shelves. Plenty of room for a big dresser in that bedroom!
It's not quite a single wide & not quite a tiny house. Sort of a unique hybrid.

An INCREDIBLE TINY (not tiny) HOME, and I love it all. I LOVE where you put the sink! This gives plenty of room for prepping meals and baking or even room for sewing and crafts. No one does dishes all day, looking out of a window. The window will allow for more sunlight on what you’re actually using the counter space for - even extra plants getting started. They transported it to Newport Tn from Kentucky, so yes. But you will need to pay a professional company to move it and get the permits required.
