There's a reason kids, black or white everywhere in the 80's and 90's loved Bo. He was a beast!! He was the biggest and brightest star we had seen in our young lives. I remember having those "Bo knows" baseball cards. Still have them all these years later.
Bo Knows! So does Griffey Jr. and Deion. 3 of the greatest athletes in history. Bo was actually the first Nike representative before Jordan. Bo knows commercials were fresh. Thanks Dan for always having great interviews over the years. One love from Long Beach California.
Bo said when he was at Auburn a few NFL scouts showed up and wanted to see him run. He had been at track practice chasing a "rabbit" runner and was told to walk over to the football field. He said he got there and ran a couple 4.3 40's and one of his coaches told him, Bo they aren't going to leave until you run a max effort so Bo told him to open the door at the end of the stadium and he ran a max effort 40 and just kept running threw the door and back to track practice. He said he was later told it had been electronically timed at 4.17

I never saw anyone actually run "around" the bases faster than Deion Sanders. Besides being blazingly fast, Deion had perfected the short inside leg stride that allowed him to run a perfect arc rounding each base at optimum angle and full speed....Absolute efficiency combined with World Class speed. He made Singles Doubles and Doubles into Triples with perfect technique....
I LOVE IT THAT OF MY FAVORITE PLAYER EVER( KG.JR) IS TALKING ABOUT ONE OF MY FAVORITE PLAYERS EVER IN BO JACKSON. GOOD GOD ALMIGHTY WERE THEY FUN TOO WATCH.
I happened to play golf with Junior in 2015 at Carnoustie in Scotland. I told him I witnessed one of his longest home runs in 1997 at the Kingdom and he told me he didn't remember it. I asked him why and he said the only home runs he remembered were the ones Bo hit. I could tell he had a great respect for him.
I watched Bo almost beat out a one hop shot straight to the shortstop at the K in '89 when the infield was still the old school astroturf, never should have been a close one but he made it a bang bang play with his speed. If you never saw him in person it's hard to appreciate what he was actually capable of, but let me assure you he was as legit as advertised.
Bo had Hall of Fame ability in both sports. He was one of the best outfielders of his era, and he had as much power as Canseco, McGuire, McGriff and Strawberry.
Bo may be the most revered (team sport) athlete in my lifetime, and I'm getting old. As far as best pure athlete, to me, he's in that discussion with guys like Jim Brown, Wilt Chamberlain and as legend has it, Jim Thorpe.
As a dad now I try to explain how rare Bo was to my kid. Two sport athletes are extinct only because of all the money involved with franchises now a days. Can't wait til we get an athlete someday that wants to do his thing and play multiple sports. Until then.. Bo was a baaad man!
Jeremy G Bo Jackson was from another planet or at least that's what it looked like at the time but let's not forget how awesome Deion Sanders was also.
If Russell Wilson wasn't tied up in football he might be the next Bo and Dieon. Russell Wilson the Seahawks QB will be at Yankees Spring Training. He is legally a professional baseball player but perhaps his football contract does not allow him to competitively play baseball.
Michael Peterson He wouldn't be anything like Bo. Like Deion, maybe. But not Deion, or Russ, or most humans who've ever lived, come close to Bo Jackson.
Bo actually has comments out there about the likelihood of two sport athletes in the pros ever again. He doesn’t think it can happen because of the way kids have to specialize nowadays to ever make it pro in just one sport. I’m no expert on what it takes, but I’ll take his opinion very seriously on this topic.
I had the pleasure of watching bo jackson when I was growing up. In my ignorance of being 4 or 5 years old, I was certain nobody could be a better athlete than this guy. He was a legend the moment I saw him. In hindsight I don't think I was wrong.
My favorite memory of him was running full tilt to chase down a ball , catching it on the fly and instead of hitting the wall he simply ran UP then DOWN the wall...
sanders isnt in any baseball conversations, he was a crossover that wasnt good...he may have been better than MJ but that isnt saying much. hes no legend.
Richard Marriott he was great in the World Series though. But had he focused solely on baseball an not football sanders would’ve been something special

Bryan Mathews Deion had an angle on Bo when he caught him, not exactly running him down. Bo still has the fastest 40 time. Head to head race Bo probably takes him in their prime. IMHO
Gary Johnson I'm not saying Bo was slower that Deion, but Deion could change direction and accelerate quicker than Bo if that makes sense. He was a smaller guy. If you lined em up tho, Bo would blow the doors off Deion.

Find a highlight reel of Deion's athletic exploits. The speed, quickness and uncommon agility will be there in abundance. But what you won't see to any appreciable degree that will be all over Bo's footage is incredible strength. As either a football or baseball player, Bo was the perfect amalgamation of speed and power on either field. Both players had breakaway speed in the NFL, and both could leg out a triple, steal a base or make that incredible outfield catch. But Deion isn't throwing a football block or going against an MLB catcher at the plate to make the play. Bo on the other hand, got that added variable of power that puts him ahead of Sanders by far.
I think if Bo had not gotten injured, he never would have left KC. The Royals had a great team in the late 80s & early 90s and he could've helped them reach at least 2 more World Series
Thing about Deion is he could keep up with anyone because that was his job but being a cornerback Deion had quick bursts to cut in... but Bo was faster and also had a burst but to burn you...
Bo and deion are similarly fast but over 100 meters Bo would be able to maintain his speed better because he was stronger. Over 40 meters Deion would probably get him or it would be a tie in my opinion. Speed tests are either a test of quickness or muscle stamina.
sanders sucked, why does everyone keep saying he was good at baseball?????? he never played more than 100 games in a season......you know they play 162 right? he was fast..........that is all, that doesnt mean good in any way
Define good Bidwellz92. Is batting .300 for an entire career "good" to you? Because to fans who know anything at all, .300 will get you into the hall of fame, so we consider that great. Did Deion hit .300 for his career, no. But when you look at his stats, and consider he didnt play full time, his numbers are good. Wrap your brain around this one, if he was not good, why were teams willing to pay him to play at the top level of in a sport where teams literally have tons of players available to them in their minor league systems????????
.300 doesnt get you in the hall. thereare numbers that do and .300 avg is not one of them. and bunting because youre fast doesnt mean .300 hitter smart guy

Well damn, all those triples he got came from bunts, wow he must have been good then. Smart guy. (also I feel the need to point out that my last 2 sentences were 100% sarcasm, otherwise you probably wouldn't figure it out on your own) Not great, but good.
do you even read ? .300 avg doesnt get you to the hall of fame. and sanders had speed which got him the base hits. he wasnt raking , are you too young to have watched him? you can play for 2 years and have a .300 avg are you getting in?? no. you need the numbers, there isnt a .300 hitter in the hall without more stats to put him there. its that simple. im not being a dick im just saying, certain numbers are needed batting avg isnt one of them.

Agreed. He was that good at both sports. This would've been an accomplishment that I believe nobody could duplicate....other than Bo.

Bo would have had 500 homers in his career if he focused on baseball. He would have been a first ballot hall of famer. No question.
It was just effortless for Bo...we all know he was a phenomenal athlete and he never acted like the typical superstar assclown either
Deion was had a typical sprinter build. Bo had the speed and was built like a defensive end.
