This is what i love about RUclips. I'd never heard of Ciani, but was recommended a video of her on Letterman. That led to me watching a few of her videos and finally this video 😊
her voice melts me
Don't watch the videos in which she's 20 something then
She has the musician's voice, lol i don't really know what that means but i've noticed that all great musicians i like have this empathetic, calm, soothing tone to their voice, probably because they're more aware of the way it sounds than a lot of other people
She has the best philosophical explanations of what making music modular is all about!
A very specific field, no doubt!
I love her perspective and also "there's a promise in a machine" ❤️
She is so freakin awesome!!!
I’ve loved your music for decades. “Velocity of Love” is going to be played at my memorial service.
you are crazy, lol. Suzanne music is beautiful though, if not the best
Beautiful soul..soothing voice . thank you for this.
A pioneer of electronic music!! 🙌👏
Wow i'm 47 electronic technician and I like electronic music and for a hobby I like to play the synth keyboard I'm not a musician but enjoyed!. and see this woman career that is in love with electronic music is awesome!!!🎛🎛🙌 🎛🔈🔉🔊🎶🎶🎶
"You want nothing, I want a Buchla."
I’m a third of the way through this interview and just finished watching your mini appearance on the Dave Letterman Show. I’m so glad I found you again. I loved your album, “Seven Waves” (1982), and am now enjoying learning about you a little bit.
There are a few albums in my life that have made an impression on me, and Seven Waves is one of them. Thank you.
I'm gobsmacked...i'd never ever even heard of this fascinating lady. It was through an old clip of the Letterman show that she sneaked into my you tube algorithm. Wow...😙
Lovely piece on Suzanne. Love her to death
Amazing Machines, brilliant Woman, Beautiful Sounds…..
I could listen to your narration forever! Very interesting and pleasing!

Great perspectives!
She still has this very cute big smile when talking than when she was a young adult. Very pleasant to hear her talk.
I'm glad you managed to get some anecdotes not included in the (also excellent) Life in Waves doc.
"Better to have a Buchla than nothing." - Zen Master
All I can say is "wow!" I can only afford the Aruria software version of the Easel and I can't stop booting up my laptop and playing it!
Thank you for share this interview
Been a fan of her music for a long time, but now I think I love HER too! Fantastic video!
This is wonderful! I was at Mills in 1983 and 84. Before that I was part of And/Or Seattle's Soundwork Studio 1979-1083 where I first fell in love with the Buchla Synth. We had 3 cabinets, mostly 100 series with a few 200 series modules.
You guys rock thank you !
Thank you for this.
This was awesome! Thank you!!
That was a good interview. Top notch video
Super coooool! She’s amazing 😊
What a great interview video and such awesome insight into your process. Thank you for sharing. I'm hooked.

Very nice, I love this mind!
thats the best cd i ever found
Incredible what passion
Love that Video
Very nice video, One of my first experience with electronics was with a Buchla in 1982 EMS in Stockholm. Now i have one in my computer, trying to figure out how its works.
Thanks for a very nice video.
Who makes a good emulator for PC?
Arturia?
Imagine if Suzanne and Mickey Hart did a live show together?! 😳
What a boss.
maravilhoso
❤️
👏👏👏💕
Not at all surprising that the Bay Area in the '60s was the cauldron she found herself in. Some of the SF bands like the Dead, Airplane and Messenger Service were very much into the fusion of electric instruments and feedback aural schemes. Light Sound Dimension was a adherent of electronic music before there was electronic music! Check. Caini is very present.
Liberal arts pastime! LOL! I feel ya! “There’s no making a living in music!”, exclaimed my father. They ( he & his co-workers wanted me to follow their path and become an automotive designer… I did well with art and design, but my heart was , and still is, in music!) ✌🏻😎🎹🌴🌞
Very inspiring indeed. I love messing around with my King Korg Synthesizer. Been using the sequencer alot lately.
Suzanne and Liona Boyd are the nicest women I've had the pleasure of meeting. And Suzanne makes it all sound so easy, but believe me - it ain't!
What a beautiful artist! The Buchla (now I know how to pronounce it) looks terrifying, but I wonder if we've lost a lot by having thousands of VST synths available at almost no cost in comparison. I have all that and still couldn't make a decent listenable piece to save my life. Maybe less really is more.
She looks like Marilu Henner! If you can not afford a Buchla, you can buy a Korg Volca modular for under $ 200.00😊😊😊😊😊😊
at 17:34 when she talks about sculpting and leading the sound, it sounds like the way I use a Mushroom trip or an acid trip. I'll let it do its thing but I'm in control of where it will lead me.
Came here from the pinball video
You invented new wave .yes we pioneers have to fight for it
Stone fox.
“Free speech movement.” Now look where we are.
beautiful interview but I gotta say, $3/hr in the late 60's would be like $20/hr nowadays...
Music is cool and all but, let’s not have any more pollution-friendly bra-fires hmmmm?
