Now if somebody in out community finds a solution to any of these issues, I REALLY want you to mention it! I am ok if you disagree, my feelings can take it and I am equally ok to admit I am wrong if I say something that isn't true so let me know so I can get better please!
lol I do say it's still faster then most ICE in it's segment but when I do comparisons, or when I shop around, I want the best of everything for my money so it becomes a factor. How big of a factor is going to be different from person to person and I was very OK with it since I decided to buy this one instead of all the other options but it was part of the decision process as a con for me. I am always very thankful for your opinions and Thank you for watching my video.
@sprockkets the weight and size really plays a significant role but also how they tuned the equinox as well. You can see there is a deliberate attempt to tame the acceleration off the line
@ I don’t like the phantom braking that sometimes happens when backing up. While the charging isn’t the fastest, it is ok for the times we do need to fast charge. Need to precondition prior to the charger and it shouldn’t take too long as long as the charger is of a decent speed. I have seen the car hit 158kws for a short time on a high voltage 350kw Electrify Canada stations for a short period and then gradually walk down after certain percentages. It’s our first EV and there isn’t that much I don’t like about it. I do wish it had the dual climate control as my wife is constantly adjusting the temperature. I can see where this being a lower cost family EV that they need to cut costs in certain areas. I’ll be ordering the Silverado EV LT next month for myself and I’m counting on it having those bells and whistles as I’ll be paying enough for it lol
I like both but I’d go for auto high beams as they have made my high beams more useful so I use them more whereas the rain sensing wipers I have are convenient, but I did just as well without them. I’ve driven the Blazer EV, the Prologue and the Equinox EV and I’d say I liked the Equinox best as the size felt more like what I’m used to and the horsepower to weight ration is the best. It was also the 2025 so a scooch more horsepower. But although it was good, I’m with you, I want access to stupid horsepower now and then. Mostly I want to be able to pass very fast at on the freeway.
I really did like the Rain Sense feature on my Bolt EUV but I also like adaptive high beam headlights. I guess the high beam wins for me because I use high beams everyday. I really want both. My bolt was around 6 seconds and the equinox is around 6 seconds but with the bolt you really felt the acceleration off the line and it was a little loose. There both the same but I do miss the feeling.
I don't mind the auto high beam but sometimes I switch it to manual because it doesn't activate when I want it to but I understand that its because a house ahead has outdoor lights that can appear to be another vehicle and such. The Equinox is definitely being tamed on purpose but I want the ability to unleash the beast lol Thank you so much for your comment
I prefer auto high beam over rain sensing wiper. My top hate is not charging speed since i charge overnight at home. Unless long roadtrips a lot, I might hate it. I hate that i have to run wires for dashcam. I would have paid reasonable $100-300 one time fee (like paid for a dashcam) for surround vision recorder app. Also its own Spotify gets interrupted by phone's alert/sounds. Had to switch off phone's priority in the phone connection setting of the car.
I think we will start seeing some manufacturers do that with theft on the rise and the fact that Tesla has the sentry mode, however, I saw a video a while back saying sentry mode does drain the battery while parked overnight but while driving, that would be key! I had a dash cam installed on my previous vehicle but I haven't done it on this one because of the wires as you mentioned. This is kind of funny because I just got an email a couple of days ago from a dashcam company wanting to sponsor me but I don't do sponsors so.... they are called viofo... I am also not familiar with those
True, it does raise replacement cost but on the top options they have heated wiper area and I know that costs even more so I find it strange they don't even have rain sensing wipers as an option.
I’ve heard complaints that no apple car play is dangerous. People find them selfs on their phones doing what they need cause it’s no longer on the car screen. GM says they got rid of Apple CarPlay because it was “dangerous” but now they’ve just made the situation even more dangerous because people have to be on their phones more while driving
I don't think this move was about safety. I think it's a cost cutting and profit making attempt to get subscriptions out of it and they saw that Tesla and Rivian do not have Apple Carplay/Android Auto so they figured they would try it. It will be interesting to see if they pivot or keep status quo
I thought I might hear you say that one of your annoyances is the fact that the gear shift is on the steering wheel...hate that and it truly is a deal-breaker sadly.
lol I literally have to film the car right next to car wash in the winter in order to display a clean car lol It's tough. But I'm also excited to get my tesla adapter at some point to try on their superchargers
As an apple person not having CarPlay is a big thing for me, a small part of me doesn’t want to buy a gm ev because of it… it bugs me that I don’t have wireless CarPlay in my 2020 Equninox let alone not at all..
We each have features that we must have in our next vehicle and I know that is one that a lot of people have. On a totally unrelated side note..... Android is better :P lol
@@Outsider.Reviews hahaha I like both but at this point I’m too far deep in the apple ecosystem lol, I do like the look of the equinox ev compared to my 20 ICE Nox though, and it does have some cool options in comparison
@midnightmtb everything that is new will always look nicer... Well, except for the Cybertruck, that doesn't look nicer lol I do really enjoy my Equinox and the other day I charged it at home from 3% to 85% and it cost me 8$ which is why I went EV in the first place. Can't beat that
@ thanks for that info, I’ve been considering an EV for a while, while I have a full time job that pays well, I still do side gigs like uber and SkipTheDishes and an EV makes perfect sense for that aspect, when you refer to pricing your referring to CAD? I think I remember in your first video on the Nox you mentioned you were in Quebec City (I feel bad for you) I’m near Ottawa so it’s probably similar in pricing
@midnightmtb lol yes I am referring to CAD and thank you for your support, life in QC is harder than when I lived in ON but I got posted here and my wife has a career here so 🤷
Definitely pass on auto headlights for auto wipers! Planning on purchasing an Ev this spring, chev ( gm) subscription setup while excluding android auto is a concern for me.
It was a concern for me as well but in the end, I use android for Map and music mostly and this has the map and I can get the music via BT so I was ok with it but I understand having it as a hurdle and depending on the other vehicles you're considering... it might be a deal breaker.
CX-30 Same... But I value the automatic high beams more. There are many times when I have to self adjust the wipers with these Florida rains in the summer.
heads up display is the best thing i have seen in a car it's not gimmicky at all and rain sensers is one of the most useless thing i ever seen it's not like you won't see when you drive ... oh maybe you are too busy looking into your dash to look at your speed
I have rain sensing wipers on my model 3, they suck! This is the only vehicle I've had them on so could just be Tesla. I usually turn them off as they often just randomly turn on when there is no rain or when there is a mist, they go full speed. they are horrible! That being said the Tesla auto high-beam suck to so maybe it's just a Tesla thing lol
Tesla does other things great but car features like those are not one of them lol. I loved the rain sensing wiper system on my Mazda which is why I miss it perhaps.
I have seem commercials for some of those on Insta... but I don't really need apple car play or Android Auto if I have built in Google maps and BT music but I might be the minority in that way
@@peterscott2662 That is not what I'm saying Peter and I explain it during the full review. The acceleration is tamed and sometimes I wish they just let it open right up when you throw it in sport mode but overall I still prefer my Equinox EV and that is why I bought it. No EV has everything I want so there's concessions to be made and financially speaking, this acceleration preserves tires and allows for greater range which is good but it doesn't mean I don't wish I could accelerate like a bat out of hell sometimes

Can we stop judging EVs by their 0-60 speed. It’s a solid car for the price point. Appreciate the video 👍🏾

I kinda want 6.2 or lower. It's weird that the bolt ev is faster. Not surprising for the given HP and weight/battery size.
@sprockkets the weight and size really plays a significant role but also how they tuned the equinox as well. You can see there is a deliberate attempt to tame the acceleration off the line
I don’t agree with you on any of your issues but to each their own 😊. Don’t miss apple auto and I use SiriusXM radio

Rain sensing wipers, totally agree. I rarely drive after dark so auto high-beams are a waste for me
Thank you, I agree
Great video, appreciate the honest review!
Thank you, that means a lot.

no rain sensing wipers ???? WTF? just changed my mind. LOL. Damn it! So super important in rainy Vancouver. Plus headlights on with wipers.
