Outsider Reviews
Канада
Добавлен 7 мар 2012
In this channel, I will give my reviews/opinion on various topics, mostly related to the automotive industry. I am a veteran from Canada with an outsider's perspective. I try to get as much data before making an opinion on a matter and I try to be as non bias as possible. My goal is to create a channel that can help people with their vehicle purchase and provide as much information as possible in a short period of time.

Gear selector on the steering wheel. Deal breaker... Why do manufacturers do that instead of putting it on the center console where people intuitively know how to use it? And they enjoy using it and it's much better if you get into a tight spot in a parking lot where someone's going to back into you or something and you need to either go into forward quickly or reverse quickly instead of having to think about that lever on the steering wheel in which way to move it to go in the direction you need to go quickly. I had a Mercedes that did that and it was just the worst and also the start-stop.... I much prefer my Mazda. Great review though enjoy your new vehicle
Thank you for your feedback and support. There are many different gear selector out there, there's Piano key ones (my personal worse lol), there's turn dial, there's the Tesla screen swipe (OK No that's the worse lol) and so on but this one reminds me of a truck column shifter and I can say I do not need to look down to either shift forward or reverse. It become pretty intuitive but that is just personal preferences and there's really no wrong answer.... except for that screen swipe, that is just stupid lol and even though Mazda has yet to reply to my emails... I still love their product. My CX5 lasted me almost 10 years before I traded it in and it will be good for a while too.
Toyota is very conservative w range to prevent the driver from being stranded and to keep the driver from damaging the battery from repeatedly running it down to near 0%. You are one of the few reviews who pointed out that Toyota is low balling the range. Bravo
I noticed that. I considered buying the bZ but the interior driver cluster was just not for me. It is the most efficient EV I have tested so that is good and the Toyota rep told me once you hit 0% battery, you have about 50km left of range which was something I did not know at the time of recording
i have cx-5 and have both, rain sensing wipers and automatic high beam :)
My CX-5 was a 2016 GS+ so not the top trim but it had what I needed
As an apple person not having CarPlay is a big thing for me, a small part of me doesn’t want to buy a gm ev because of it… it bugs me that I don’t have wireless CarPlay in my 2020 Equninox let alone not at all..
We each have features that we must have in our next vehicle and I know that is one that a lot of people have. On a totally unrelated side note..... Android is better :P lol
@@Outsider.Reviews hahaha I like both but at this point I’m too far deep in the apple ecosystem lol, I do like the look of the equinox ev compared to my 20 ICE Nox though, and it does have some cool options in comparison
@midnightmtb everything that is new will always look nicer... Well, except for the Cybertruck, that doesn't look nicer lol I do really enjoy my Equinox and the other day I charged it at home from 3% to 85% and it cost me 8$ which is why I went EV in the first place. Can't beat that
@ thanks for that info, I’ve been considering an EV for a while, while I have a full time job that pays well, I still do side gigs like uber and SkipTheDishes and an EV makes perfect sense for that aspect, when you refer to pricing your referring to CAD? I think I remember in your first video on the Nox you mentioned you were in Quebec City (I feel bad for you) I’m near Ottawa so it’s probably similar in pricing
@midnightmtb lol yes I am referring to CAD and thank you for your support, life in QC is harder than when I lived in ON but I got posted here and my wife has a career here so 🤷
I like both but I’d go for auto high beams as they have made my high beams more useful so I use them more whereas the rain sensing wipers I have are convenient, but I did just as well without them. I’ve driven the Blazer EV, the Prologue and the Equinox EV and I’d say I liked the Equinox best as the size felt more like what I’m used to and the horsepower to weight ration is the best. It was also the 2025 so a scooch more horsepower. But although it was good, I’m with you, I want access to stupid horsepower now and then. Mostly I want to be able to pass very fast at on the freeway.
@@Molishious Yes! Stupid HP and TQ now! Lol
I really did like the Rain Sense feature on my Bolt EUV but I also like adaptive high beam headlights. I guess the high beam wins for me because I use high beams everyday. I really want both. My bolt was around 6 seconds and the equinox is around 6 seconds but with the bolt you really felt the acceleration off the line and it was a little loose. There both the same but I do miss the feeling.
I don't mind the auto high beam but sometimes I switch it to manual because it doesn't activate when I want it to but I understand that its because a house ahead has outdoor lights that can appear to be another vehicle and such. The Equinox is definitely being tamed on purpose but I want the ability to unleash the beast lol Thank you so much for your comment
Definitely pass on auto headlights for auto wipers! Planning on purchasing an Ev this spring, chev ( gm) subscription setup while excluding android auto is a concern for me.
It was a concern for me as well but in the end, I use android for Map and music mostly and this has the map and I can get the music via BT so I was ok with it but I understand having it as a hurdle and depending on the other vehicles you're considering... it might be a deal breaker.
Now if somebody in out community finds a solution to any of these issues, I REALLY want you to mention it! I am ok if you disagree, my feelings can take it and I am equally ok to admit I am wrong if I say something that isn't true so let me know so I can get better please!
Hi, I'm in BC and looking for a 2025 LT AWD; the only AWD Equinox that qualifies for the BC $4k rebate. And they are hard to find here.
They are a very popular EV in QC as well. Would you like me to reach out to a broker friend of mine to assist you? I don't personally know the BC area but I can try to help out
How did you get to 113 cf cargo space for the Pilot? The only way you get to that number is by folding the passenger and driver seats
I did find it on the spec sheet but here's a link: www.viphonda.com/manufacturer-information/pilot-interior/#:~:text=Passenger%20Volume%3A%20154.9%20cubic%20feet,%2F%2021.8%20cubic%20feet%20(Sport)
I really wanted to get one of these but I was worried about it not having apple carplay. What kind of music apps work with it, like can you use an apple music app, just not through carplay? I'm not a fan of Sirrius XM or Spotify.
You can definitely use Spotify since its an app you can download right on the built in infotainment
Seriously thinking of an Equinox after my ID4 lease runs out in a year. Equinox is appealing and priced similar to VW. Rear cargo is a bit smaller and not sure about the pop up handles but we will see. I do really like my ID4 so it will be a tough decision. Good to see a Canadian presenter for this vehicle. Cheers.
@@petercorrin2414 those are my top 2 EV picks and the ID4 made it easy for me because of the stop sell lol otherwise it would have been a tougher debate but the 7k rebate was ending in my area and I wanted to grab an EV before that. They each have their pros. ID4 is better at acceleration, cargo space and charging while the Equinox has a better 1 pedal drive, software and range. It's important to note that most of the cargo space difference has to do with the height and I rarely pack to the roof so that was less important to me.
@@Outsider.Reviews Yes the VW seems to have a lower load floor and the EQ has more of a lift up to floor level. Wasn't aware of the stop sell. I assume that is for the door lock water ingress issue.
@petercorrin2414 Yes it was the door handle issue which they have engineered a new door handle and replaced it as well as charging issues
As someone that loves to drive in snow, I'd like to see how it does in deeper snow. For example in conditions like the unplowed road behind the car at 3:38.
I mean, that's a skidoo trail but I'm picking up what you are putting down lol I have a nearby area in development that I might use for a video like that for a Winter EV Driving video of sorts.
AWD is more for getting you started but front-wheel drive will serve you better as you're driving. It always amazes me how many all-wheel drive vehicles are off in the median when it starts to snow because they think with all-wheel drive they're invincible. I remember a snow storm in the Northeast about 15 years ago and I had rented a little Toyota echo and I'm just going down the road white knuckling it but still on the road and all of the SUVs are off in the ditch. Crazy!!
@@chathammkm Yes and No. AWD does nothing to stop you faster and that is the mistake drivers make when in a snow storm, However, they are more efficient at preventing a sideways slide or a skid due to being able to use all 4 wheels to adjust the direction. I would say Subaru does this best but if you hit ice, there's not much to do so better be safe and adapt your driving to the conditions
Thanks for the review. I'm picking up a new Envision Avenir today in Alberta. A little hint, when showing off interior room in a vehicle it's a good idea to let people know your height for reference. Bonne annee!
I appreciate that and I usually do but I think I slacked off on this one lol I have a friend in Alberta picking up an Encore GX to save gas since he owns a RAM 1500.
What’s the gas peddle button for?
1 pedal drive
@ what does that do? Also does the xle awd have 360 cameras
@jeremeywright The 1 pedal drive on the bZ and other EVs uses regenerative braking to slow down the vehicle. On bZ, it's a bit unpredictable I find and not well tuned while on other EVs it's always the same, regardless of battery % and can come to a full stop which means you rarely have to use your brakes. Yes it does have 360 camera, however it's not standard on all trims
Yeah this is such a good point for sales.
@@zengod6148 thank you
Can you provide a link to the steel wheels you used?
Unfortunately I bought it at the dealership with my vehicle which is what a Garage owner recommended me to do to make sure everything fit just fine but your local Chevrolet service and parts department should be able to set you up with those.
Under ideal conditions, the Toyota bZ4X's DC fast-charging capability allows it to charge up to 80 percent in 30 minutes. With a remarkable range of up to 252 miles, it provides the maximum convenience and adaptability for electric car aficionados.
The bZ did get a lot better and I did shop for it because it's one of the most efficient EV on the market (Efficiency does not translate to more range, just less electricity needed) but in the end, the 1 pedal drive, price and the interior was better with the Equinox EV
This thing would be perfect with the mazda’s 2.5 turbo engine
I agree! but they merged with Honda and not Mazda so I'm not sure what will be in the future for this vehicle.
While my Enclave Avenir has been in the shop for a transmission for 3 months, I have had a loaner XT4. My wife loved the screen and the better gas mileage. Again, since we had it for so long it was needing scheduled maintenence, so they switched it out with an XT5. This feels like a step backwards. They need to update the XT5. While it's a little bigger, it has the 2.4T and it's underpowered, but we both miss that screen. That was cool.
which MY Enclave do you have out of curiosity? I very much agree, the XT5 seems ancient and that is why we reached out to GM prior to making this video to see if it is getting a refresh in 2025 like it did in China and we were told NO. Also now GM is stopping production of the XT4 which was another big shock to us.
@Outsider.Reviews 2018 Avenir. It's actually more loaded than the 2024 XT5. I heard that they were stopping production of the XT4 to make Chevy Bolt in the same assembly line. Didn't know about XT5 being discontinued. So Cadillac will have no small SUVs? Just XT6 and Escalade. And that all electric thing.
@JBrletic-v2i the XT5 shouldn't be discontinued but given a major refresh I think
I have been waiting for someone to do a review of the Equinox EV in the snowy condition. Thanks for sharing the informative video! Happy 2025!
Thank you very much and Happy 2025 to you as well. I will be doing more winter content in the next few weeks for sure such as range test and also winter driving differences from ICE vehicle to EV
We got an RS in November and it has been a great car so far. We have done several ~250 mi trips to my son's college and at least on trip twice as far. We had a Bolt EUV before and also have had a MYLR for two years. The infotainment system is great at route planning, a distinct upgrade from the old Bolt system.
@@martalli That is great to hear. I definitely love the route planning, it makes it very easy and stress free
I subscribed, looking for content on the equinox ev. I traded my 2022 bolt euv for a 2024 equinox ev awd rs. I've got 8000 miles on the equinox. I live in Northern Michigan. I loved the bolt and i love the equinox even more.
@@vinsonhelton7141 What are your thoughts on the Equinox thus far? I only have about 6600km but it has only been 3 weeks. I drive a lot since I live about 45 minutes from anything
A few of my thoughts on the equinox: I like the range. Covers all my daily driving and small road trips even in the cold just from charging at home. The heat pump seems to be pretty efficient. The battery has more usable energy than 85 kw, it's around 90 kw usable. The vehicle drives very smooth and quiet. When you push the accelerator to the floor it doesn't get loose in the front end probably because of the rear motor and weight. Not sure but plenty fast. It already had super cruise on it and after using it I have realized how much I love it. Wow!! It works really good. I really love the Google system especially the maps and routing information and how easy it is to use plus how much it helps me while driving. I can go on but that's a little. Overall I really enjoy the vehicle. You know you like a vehicle when you look forward to driving it again.
@vinsonhelton7141 I agree 💯 with what you are saying. I wish super cruise was more widely available up here but dealers just aren't ordering them with it and that might have to do with the fact we only have a couple of highways mapped out up here and it doesn't work half the year because of our winter and terrible roads lol I will do a QC winter super cruise test next week with the Silverado EV
This is great! Canadian content is greatly appreciated. I'm in Saskatchewan and the lease on my Audi Q4 e-tron is up in about a year. Did the "fancy car" thing for my first EV, but I'm giving the Equinox EV a serious look. I'm excited to get your thoughts (and data) on winter efficiency. I usually don't care much about range zipping around the city or out to the lake, but I'm doing a quick 250km round trip in a couple days and I have serious doubts the Audi can do it on one charge. And there's one charger on the trans-Canada between home and my destination. I hope it works at -20C.
@@devons2381 Thank you very much. We do need more Canadian Content. I love Motormouth but they don't do long term EV content or any charging/range content but I'm retired now and growing the channel so there's that lol. I have not tested the Q4 E-Tron yet but I am a fan of the I.D.4 however I had it during summer time. I would also be worried about doing the trip with the E-Tron. It has a heat pump?
It has a heat pump, though seems pretty ineffective. The vehicle is quite inefficient overall. Best I've seen was 19kWh/100km average in May. Worst: 60 in January. Yep... Sixty! I leased it when pieces were crazy and it was $15k less than a Tesla Y. Re: connectivity and subscriptions... If you don't renew "all the things" do you lose the ability to use the phone app for things like controlling HVAC, etc?
@@devons2381 19kwh/100km is pretty good if we are talking highway efficiency but 60 is off the charts lol. VW had to redo their heat pumps a couple of years ago because it was barely efficient, hence why it wasn't available as an option for a while. Unfortunately, I will likely lose those capabilities if I don't renew the connectivity subscription for my 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV. Key features like remote start and HVAC control usually rely on the data connection provided through the subscription
@@Outsider.Reviews according to my nerdy spreadsheet, overall average of 33kWh/100km 😂 3 years of data, mostly city with summer weekends out to the lake 80km away. Too bad about required subscriptions. 🙁
@devons2381 33 seems high for sure. The GM EVs are NOT the most efficient from my experience with them which is why their batteries are usually a bit bigger than the competition so a bit heavier. My efficiency is at 27kwh/100km but I've done over 50% highway speeds of 120km/h and riding in a hoodie with HVAC at 22C on auto because I like to be comfortable. *If any law enforcement members are reading this, it's an approximate from a non calibrated gauge.... Just saying lol
Very nice ride I love the color. We bought a 2024 Chevy Equinox EV 2RS. Chevy was offering 0% financing on the 2024 models and we got a great deal on the final price. I just subscribed to the channel so I'm looking forward to some more content on you new ride.
@@ikepatton1867 Thank you so much. I really appreciate the support and I was also looking for 2024 but Québec didn't have any left so I went with 2025 but its such a great car, I love it!
We got the 24 LT AWD in Riptide blue and we love it. It came with the 19” tires and I went with 18” rims and snow tires for winter.
@@NBSteve I originally wanted a 25 LT AWD in Blue with white top but the dealership That was willing to give me a good deal did not have that one so they gave me this one for the 1k less than the blue and white LT
@@Outsider.Reviews I’m looking at ordering a 25 Silverado EV LT in Feb. I didn’t want to deal with winter tires right now and will be using it for towing a smaller RV around NB to various campgrounds. I have a 21 GMC Sierra and hate driving it with the cost of gas and will be trading that in.
@NBSteve Oh Nice. I spent a couple of years in Oromocto NB, I love it there. I'm testing out the Silverado EV next week so I will have a better idea of how it is but as far as EV trucks go, the Silverado and the R1T are my two favorites followed closely by the F150 Lightning and that's about it for EV trucks. And no... I didn't leave one out lol 😂
@ my son is stationed in Oromocto. I want the base trim LT as it comes with 18” tires on the Silverado compared to the LT premium which comes with 22” and the RST which comes with massive 24”. It will be interesting to see the Trail Boss when it is released later this year as most likely a 26 model.
Have to make the wife happy, that is a purse storage area. Nice car, I'm jealous
@@melvinjensen978 lol absolutely. She just throws whatever is in there away anyways to make room for her purse lol
wait 50% down? holy damn Bezos calm down xD great car tho !
@@Qweet_ Hahaha well I used my V.A. claim money but I get to lower my monthly expenses while having a new car so I'm happy 😁
@@Outsider.Reviews oh okay. in any situation the more you can put on down the better, of course.
@Qweet_ absolutely but this is the first time in my life that I was in a place to do so. I get why people can't tho. I only had to injure myself for life during service to get that money lol
Agree, auto manufacturer need to stop following Tesla in over engineering parts of the car. Tesla doors and charging flap have a reputation for going out and being expensive to replace, especially in colder climates. It's just completely unnecessary and adds extra cost to the manufacturer and eventually the owner. Love the Equinox overall though. Great EV. Would have purchases if I had not got such a great deal on the C40 last year.
Oh man. I wish I could afford the C40 lol that thing gets off the line like a bat out of hell lol. I 💯 agree that they need to stop following Tesla. The people shopping for EVs outside of Tesla are the ones that don't like their way of doing things like the door handles or the 1 screen with no buttons... I did not want that! This has a good blend of both worlds
@@Outsider.Reviews I should have added I bought our C40 used. New, it was outside of my budget for sure. 😅
@accountability2000 still a great car!
I bought the non AWD 3RS white with the black top for my son and it is very nice. I actually enjoyed this car than my BMW i4 M50. This is well designed, GM did a very good job on this one.
I really wanted a two tone colored Equinox because it looks so sharp but the deal I got on this one was too good to pass just to get the two tone.
A general manager at a competing Chevy dealership right across the state line here in the US told me GM gives him $3,500 for every Equinox EV they sell. I didn’t buy from him, but that was interesting knowledge to give out.
@@danno180 they get 3.9% kickback from GM but also financing kickbacks after 3 months and not to mention doc fees and such so there's room for discounts
I now know that I can add the drive modes to the top of the screens. Thank you guys for sharing that with me and this is what the channel is all about. You guys rock
You can move your screen apps to the very top where your Home, Music, Navigation, Charging buttons are available all the time, just not off to the left where you were trying to move them.
Thank you. A few others mentioned it and it is now at the top where it belongs lol
I got the Blazer and have found it too big to park in some places so I will be getting the Equinox next! I love the plain door handles on the Blazer but have already had the charge door fail! I love the HUD and the overhead camera and digital rear view mirror! Hope the Equinox gets ordinary door handles so it is perfect but engineers like ruining a good thing! Google sucks but it mostly works although WAZE quite often fails to load!
Waze works half the time for me as well but I'm not sure if that is an app issue, a connection issue or the built in software but they need to up their game in that aspect so we can get more apps on there.
Why are you not on snow/ice mode it's available?works better in snow
I have used the snow and ice mode but the roads you see in this video don't require that mode yet since I have winter tires on. It drove just fine lol I just climbed an Ice hill about 10 minutes ago in snow and ice mode, that was required but for the driving you see here, it's nothing unusual here and barely qualifies
Frosty review
hahaha Thank you. Stay Frosty
Looks great in Red
Yes, Red and Blue are the best colors on this car in my opinion
At 14 minutes in the video the reviewer was concerned that he couldn’t pin MyMode to the side. True. You can’t. You CAN pin it above the line. I have a 24 EQ EV RS and I have MyMode pinned above the line. There can be eight things pinned up there. It is delivered with six. You can add two. In fact, you can pull down some that you don’t use and replace them with others. I have MyMode and a podcast channel pinned to the top. Also, the reviewer mentioned that when you play music from your BT phone connection you do not get meta data. You should try it again when you get a chance. I have an iPhone 14 Pro. When I say “Hey Siri…play Earth Wind and Fire” it connects to EWF albums on my phone and plays songs WITH album art displayed. Finally, I am leasing my car for two years, so it won’t be an issue for me, but I’m pretty sure the Google Map support is 8 years for 2024 vehicles. Maybe it was different for cars sold in Canada, but when I took delivery of my 2024 I was told 8 years.
Hi there, you can call me Pat lol "The Reviewer" just sounds too formal to me. I have pinned the drive mode up top, thank you. The BT still does NOT provide album graphics but I couldn't care less. I use YT Music on from my Pixel 9 Pro phone via BT, however if I plug it in, it's USB and different. The dealer said 2024s were for 3 years and 2025s is now 8 years but I wouldn't be surprised if that is not accurate, however, there are a few other Channels on YT that mention the 3 years free so I'm not sure at which point GM changed their policies but it is good that they did. I appreciate the feedback and engagement, thank you very much for supporting the channel and I will learn as I go from what you guys tell me and such.
@ Hi Pat. I think where your dealer may have been confused is that SuperCruise is included for 3 years, $25 USD / month after. Google Maps is 8 years free, $15 USD / month after that.
We have a 24 Blazer EV. I still learn from you. We suffered from 100kW max charging on older 350kW chargers that were only 350A - car needs full 500A due to insanely low pack voltage. GM announced the end of these battery packs one day before we got the car.
@@mikecarter2737 ah man, I was hoping a simple software update would change things down the line but this makes sense. I'm assuming they went with the low pack voltage originally to better preserve the battery.... But I'm not techy enough to say for sure lol. Most of the time I charge it at home so it's ok
Salut, old Airborne trooper from Toronto brother. I just bought the Equinox EV 2RS with the most beutiful red any car company can offer, I also have the same oprions as you. What a great fuckin car!!!! I have zero regrdts, however 4 items for me are an annoyance coming from Mercedes. 1, only my seat is powered, I would like to see the 2 front seats powered wirh nemory. 2, being in Csnada I would like to see heated mirrors and heated washer fluid. 3, brighter interior lights and footwell lighting is a must and finally 350 kwh charging. As for your icon placement, you can attach up to 8 icons in the permanent top row when you hold them down and move them. Cant wait for your cold weather and shitty roads reviews!
All the way brother! Thank you so much for your feedback and I did just add my drive mode icon to the top so that will help but I still want a hard button lol. The heated fluid would be nice but the mirrors are heated on mine so it's strange that yours doesn't have that but maybe they changed that with the 2025 MY who knows. I agree 💯 about the interior lighting, it's on the minimal side but yes, it's a great piece of kit and I'm very happy I got one! I was 3RCR PARA so I have a lot of love for my Airborne buddies. Have you checked out the All The Way apparel from Gordo?
Great Video, Especially showing handling in snow. I looked it up and ev version 1500lbs heavier than gas model. I really think chevy has a hit with this vehicle. I would be curios on a Rainey day when temp drop will you be able to open the door, I can picture being locked out do to door handles being frozen. I just paid off lease on my 2022 1370 miles in 3 yrs. I couldn't justify re leasing and getting new ev model. I was quoted 4500 down 266 a month. The car is very Impressive, My brother in law getts company vehicle, and he got the 2025 gas model and the 2025 interior is extremely nice. Will be following on your journey with your Eqinox Ev. Shout out to Chevy Good Job
Thank you, I appreciate your support. We had a day of rain yesterday but the temp only went back down to 0C so there was some ice but a very thin layer so the doors had no issues but I wouldn't say I've experienced a real ice layer yet with this car but I'm sure I will in the next month or so. It heats up the cabin really fast, I only need to run it like 5 minutes before I leave to defrost properly which would be 20 minutes in my old Mazda CX5 so that is awesome
what a beautiful car
Thank you. I Agree lol
👍👍😎✌️🤟😳
@@wayneg296 Well thank you Wayne
I assumed the motorized door handles is for aerodynamics to help range. Not a huge fan of the handles just because of potential issues with them icing over in the winter. Personally design wise, GM has my favorite ev designs with the interior. I may look into them once the CCS port is replaced. I do feel they dropped the ball with the charging rates compared to Tesla and Hyundai/Kia. Looking forward to the future charging videos.
You are bang on! The handles scare me a bit for reliability as well and I wonder how much range do they really add by being flush. Charging needs to improve but what upsets me the most is they have the tech! The Silverado EV can charge at a rate of 350Kwh so why not give other GM EVs that capability!?!
@@Outsider.Reviews Both charge the same around 15 kw per module. Your car 10 modules x 15 =150 Silverado 24 modules x 15 = 360.
Great video, as a '24 LT AWD owner in Colorado, I have been waiting to hear about some actual snow driving in the Equinox ev (not really winter yet below ~2,500 m here). At 14:46 you are trying to get the drive mode button to stick permanently on the screen. You can do this by putting it on the top of the screen. Those buttons at the top left of the screen can be reordered and icons from the main menu can be added to the top of the screen. Also, I have a question about the slight bump in horsepower and torque between the '24 and '25, does anyone know if this is an actual hardware change, or if it is just a change in how the electric motors are rated?
@ericofthenorth GM made a slight change in motor assembly for 2025's for a small gain in efficiency
That’s a really sharp vehicle man. Love the looks of the RS. Congratulations on the new EV!
@@revnation_auto thanks brother. I'm enjoying it so far
You swapped the OEM 21" wheels out for 17"???? That greatly affects the speedo, no???? I didn't go with the RS because I really want no parts of the 21" lower profile tires (as opposed to the 19" that the LT is equipped with). I also find the ride nice with the 19s.
@@wendeannethomas793 the speedo would be affected if I changed the overall wheel and tire diameter which I did not because instead of having more rim and very little tire, I have less rim and more tire but the overall size is the same or close to. I was looking for an AWD LT but they were scarce in my area and I essentially went for the RS for the same price of an LT after a few weeks of negotiations.
After the 3 years you should be able to connect your apps using your phone as a hotspot. Something you could test out for your channel. Does it allow you to change drive modes by voice control? I test drove the Equinox EV, Blazer EV and Prologue and I liked the Equinox best mostly because it didn’t feel like a boat. You can’t really appreciate how massive that center screen is until you see it in person. Congratulations on your new EV.
Great video, first reviewer to discuss the subscription features.👍
@vertablue3803 that's because I bought it with my own money and most reviewers are reviewing press vehicles and don't really see the price of subscriptions since it's all free and included but I don't see why I would pay for the data connection since it's very spotty in my area but the Google navigation is great and free for 8 years now so I'm happy with that
What temp you have set up inside car and how does it affect your range? I'm wondering how EV is to live with in the proper winter :)
@@salalucas It depends but usually between 22C and 20C. It does affect the range, I would say if the map planner says I'll have 50% battery left it's usually 10% less than that prediction but I am for sure going to do a winter range test video where I will be focusing on all of the above to give you more of an accurate picture. I'm aiming for -15 to -20C temps with a feel factor of -20C or bellow
Go watch EV videos from super cold Norway, where 94% all new vehicles sales are fully electric. Bjorn Nyland, Kris Rifa, Roaming Norway, etc.
@junehanzawa5165 it's really not the same cold, having experienced both weather systems. The same can be said about west coast Canada with dry cold of -40C and east coast with a humid cold of -30C. I would choose the dry cold any day because wet cold just sucks lol
@Outsider.Reviews The battery doesn't care about what type of cold it is. All it matters to a battery is the actual temperature. We feel a difference, the battery doesn't.
@junehanzawa5165 the battery might not but the range will. Wet cold air is more dense and greatly affects drag which matters for an EV.
Would you recommend for light off roading since it’s AWD and has harsh suspension?
I’m considering this vs a Subaru for my first car
@@ThatYoungGuy4 I personally would only tread on trails but not Off Road just because your undercarriage is left unprotected but you do have a bit over 8" of ground clearance which is decent but the rest you would need more rugged tires and a suspension that allows more travel. A harsh suspension isn't really your friend while off roading. I think a Wilderness Trim Subaru might be more for you in this case but that is all up to you,
