you're a freakin beast. Your explosive-ness and ring awareness is amazing. It definitely improved. Much respect. I like the improvised parking lot section of concrete practice ring.

Joe - You haven't changed much since you were in high school in Tennessee. Your technique is solid. Good height on release and get across the circle smooth and quick. I did see a couple of things: 1) you may be over training some. 2) work on relaxing through the middle and also work on your suppleness in your trunk. Weightlifting is a necessary thing you have to do but it will make you stiff and you have to work on stretching. Your release speed is good but the right hand is the end of the whip and relaxing will help that snap but it's a fine line between too much relaxing and not enough. In general the right hand and arm are along for the ride right up until the release. When you quit over thinking it you'll hit 160+ overnight. You are way stronger than you need to be for that distance so you will progress quickly once you hit that and figure out the timing. I'm so glad I ran across this. Hope this finds you and yours well. Send me a note at cflinn1@bellsouth.net if you want to catch up.

Yeah going with another comment that chase said here, the leaning back in the middle is due to where your head is looking and the severe lack of utilizing the left arm really anywhere in the throw.
You're strong as an ox, just gotta get the details down a little better in the ring and 50m will be a cake walk. Left arm long out of the back, reach right sector with the left arm as you drive to the middle, get the right foot down fast at the front, reach the left arm to the back of the circle with your head up, explode through. You'd be amazed. Throw far!

Your upper body has a tendency to lean back (in the circle) once you plant your right foot. If you keep your upper body more straight up and down you'll get more momentum from your right half following through with your hip extension. So basically, you're exploding out the back (which is great), but the fact that you are leaning too much towards the back of the circle kills your momentum. Try to feel your body more upright when you land your right foot in the center. The height of the disc comes from your angle of release -- no need to force the angle any higher than it already needs to be! Good luck dude!

Nice video. Idk how big you are, you’re obviously strong and have a great work ethic. Technical details are difficult to see at full speed, but I suspect your finish is not as good as it could be. I’m not seeing the acceleration of the right arm at the end, rather it looks like you are jumping and turning, rather than turning into your blocking leg and hitting that left side block and getting that right arm acceleration. Also- your left foot lands late compared to your right arm. Remember- a big part of the overall technique is to land at the front in your power position. The key here is when your left foot lands versus how far back the discus is. Ideally, when the left foot lands at the front you want the discus arm pointed back into sector so you can apply force and accelerate it for a longer time. Realistically, you should be able to achieve about 180 degrees of rotation with the left foot down.
