It's a testament to your strength and spirit that you came out of that with enough love of the game to become a coach and start your own league.
I'm sure a lot of guys in your exact position would be propping up a bar somewhere, boring the crap out of people with talk about how "I could have been Hall of Famer..."

We all wish you could have played for 20 years in the bigs, too. But if you had, you might not have become a coach, which may have been your real calling all along. You’re a good dude.
Those of you who’ve just discovered Matt, do yourself a favor and watch all his vids on life in the majors and minors. The guy has some awesome stories and insight.

Not sure if you have done a video on this, but what is team chemistry like on an MLB team? Is every player on the team like best friends like you would see on a travel/high school team or are there different cliques within the team?

Awesome recap of your journey. Most of us growing up and blessed enough to play college with same aspirations don't have a realistic chance to even get the infamous "cup of coffee"meeting let alone play pro ball would kill for your story. I know you don't take it for granted because you earned it and have a great family and successful business now. But you have had an amazing ride most of us only day dreamed about. Well done. Thanks for sharing what had to be an emotional piece of yourself.

Really enjoyed your story. You hear often that good prospects often play well in the minors and the future looks bright and the injuries start and the dream disappears. On the positive side you obviously have been successful doing what your doing now and I believe a real good coach.

Search his videos for Wikepedia page. He did a video where he checked if his Wikipedia page was correct. Then he clicked onto his draft class and went over all the players drafted in the 1st round.

Hearing you talk about your swing, I’m reminded of the section of Moneyball where Billy Beane talks about how he was physically superior but mentally different from Lenny Dykstra.
“The point about Lenny, at least to Billy, was clear: Lenny didn’t let his mind screw him up. The physical gifts required to play pro ball were, in some ways, less extraordinary than the mental ones. Only a psychological freak could approach a 100-mph fastball aimed not all that far from his head with total confidence.
“Lenny was so perfectly designed, emotionally, to play the game of baseball,” said Billy. “He was able to instantly forget any failure and draw strength from every success. He had no concept of failure. And he had no idea where he was. And I was the opposite.”
You seem like a pretty reflective and thoughtful guy, do you think that might have held you back mentally at points in your career?

Great videos. I think the fans would really like if you got a bit more 18A rather than PG13 and talk about some funny stories you have from the minors or major leagues with teammates or yourself. If you’ve heard of the hockey podcast Spittin Chiclets they do a good job of this however I wouldn’t say get that R rated with some of the stories haha

I'm a Mariners fan and one thing you hear a lot among the Seattle fans and media is that the Mariners ruin their prospects by calling them up to MLB too fast. I'm not sure I buy into that, but I hear it all the time.

Great channel, Matt. I have a video idea: Playing for a team that is a rival of the team you grew up rooting for. I figure you’d have some perspective on this being a Massachusetts kid who played in the Yankees organization.

Hey Matt, I’ve watched plenty of videos of yours on infield footwork and I do believe right left field, then right to left throw is what works best. Now after you field the ball do you believe pumping is an issue while doing the footwork before you throw??

Matt, as a coach, can you tell right off the bat (no pun intended) that you have a special kid who you think has a legit shot at the MLB?

Teams have to balance rushing a prospect and bringing him along slowly. I wonder if the Padres allowed you to spend a full year at each level, 2007 High A, 2008 AA, and 2009 AAA- how your development might have been.

Your last name is italian and you could have taken advantage of it as other players whose family became from ITALY all over the american continent.
    Thanks
