Driving Crete's Most Dangerous Road

- The 27 hairpin bends and 800 metre descent from Kalikratis to Frangokastello.
Has been described as one of Europe's most dangerous roads.
There are many more dangerous roads than this in Crete.
Drove it today (Jul 29th 2024) going downhill and it was epic and bone chilling and I'm happy to have done it but never want to do it again at the same time.
I drove that road this summer and my wife is still mad at me for putting her through that😂

We’ve done that. Nice when you get down. Usually calls for a Mythos or three at the end of the day. 👍

@@rabh2534 Greece is littered with roads like this on the mountains, though the lack of even the tiniest of barriers makes this one particularly scary.
@@Coen80 we drove through similar roads in Crete. I loved it. On top of the mountains, with olives, goats and majestic views. It was quite scary though, and hot!

Because of Google Maps we had to drive thorough this street. It was so horrible!!

It's hard to believe for me that this is the most dangerous road in Crete. There are unpaved mountain roads there.
I made it couple of times in may this year... Adrenaline.
I suppose you have never travelled to the south beaches in Heraclion,esp Monastery Koudouma and so on....
What type of car did you drive?
This was a Fiat Panda 1.2 we hired for a one week trip at the beginning of April then we hired a Toyota Aygo for another trip at the end of April and did the same drive in it too
Me on Peugeot 108. In may this year. And there is more "nice" roads. From Plakias to Agia Galini on the beach road.... This is nothing... But the view is breathtaking. Unforgettable.

Looks dangerous indeed. Though the video would have been better if there weren't a 100 cuts in it leaving only the corners.

It's much funnier with a rwd car.
People usually travel to enjoy the scenery.. Stuff like drifting is something 19 year old kids find cool. But obviously this road is not for that.
When you think this street is horrible, go to corfu.

yeah, there certainly are many more dangerous roads in Crete (Greece in general) like the 'highway' on crete.. with its two lanes and maniac drivers.
Shame Top Gear never came here in it's hayday.
Beware of the Hilux from hell and if the driver has a big moustache be very afraid!
@@circeastraia281 Seen him! Except we were driving UP and he was on his way down. Passing another vehicle can be very awkward because there is sometimes a twelve inch drop if you put a wheel off the tarmac; most cars would ground the chassis then you would get very stuck! The other worrying thing up there is that all the road signs have bullet holes!
@@wheater5 …and the further West you go on the island, the larger the bullet holes get.

Sorry not buying it..@0.40 camera stops and picks up again, the speed outdrives stopping and reaction time of your line of vision. Obviously speed doctored for lulz. When we went to 1 vilage in the day I hired a taxi driver to take us in the evening and return pickup at midnight - even he was only doing 40/50 kph and it wasnt as bad as this road. Not buying it.
