    You can tell Niels is a T-1000 here. The floor creaks way more when ever he is walking around the table.

    I know a lot of 2 and 3 rail position shots coming off the side pocket. I sure as hell did NOT know this shot by Niels at 17:58. Holy cow what a gorgeous shot. I am sure I would have tried to put the 2 by the 3 into the corner, if it even goes. I learn so much just watching these players. I love it. Niels blew my mind with this one.

      It does seem a bit risky with that side pocket

    The way it became named that was when the western states began playing pool the eastern players were far advanced and all the homes at that time were small houses with the dinning room and kitchen were usually same extended rooms with an arch way kinda defining the separate eatting area from kitchen prep area for cooking. Well the tables were usually dual purpose. They would cover them and use as a dinner table then after dinner they would move chairs and uncover and use for pool playing. So with the end facing the Kitchen was designated the breaking end so in turn the 2nd diamond was called the kitchen line. There were made up rules the western players did like a scratch not necessarily a foul but an actual pocket scratch during the play they would say ball in hand in the kitchen. That was a cheat rules that's still used in many bar play.

    the commentators this entire match were rooting for Shaw *laughs*... they go on and on about Shaw, and only say "nice shot by Niels"... at the most.

    These boys both gave us a hell of a match. And thank you to Matchroom for uploading it, and for Chris Melling's commentary in particular, he's always insightful with what he has to say.

    Jayson Shaw vs Niels Jeijen 2021 World Pool Masters / WHERE?

  • @rogerscottcathey
    @rogerscottcathey 2 года назад +1

    Never heard of "kitchen line". Head string, yeah. "Kitchen" is bounded by the head string, which they call the "balk line". Foot string bisects the foot spot/rack line.

    • @rogerscottcathey
      @rogerscottcathey 2 года назад

      In the eighth rack with the one ball just past the side pocket, I can just see Efren hitting the far end rail and tapping the one in with a kick leaving shape on the two.

    Jason cut his own throat in game 7 he was praising him self by long pausing when he had the rack ran. You could tell Niels posture in his seat he gave up the game when Shaw did the pretty shot on the 5 just getting out for the shot in the side pocket. Then he was standing there smirking slow chalking then shot with hard low in stead of side english roll and missed the cut on the 8.

    So Niels is very right eye dominant according to Phil.
    All things considered, a bit of a necessity.

    Only thing I don't like is that Matchroom has taken over all aspects of major pool nowadays and they're primarily UK/European.... The American game of Billiards has been compromised as now ALL European now who run all MAJOR events, terrible time for pool
