    I wish there was a version of the A61 form factor with the S61 keybed. I personally don't have much use for the screens and I feel like they increase the price by 150-200 or something.

  • @velanche
    @velanche 6 лет назад +22

    I was actually pretty surprised by the "small" screen on the A61. I tried it myself, and once you get used to it, it sort of feels pretty speedy and feels less cluttered and more focused in comparison with the visual display. I was kinda taken aback and wasn't prepared for that. It's different, and not for everyone, but kinda like the speed between a graphical UI and a command line (ie, DOS or UNIX). I am surprised, or maybe I shouldn't be, that there is no on/off button on the unit...something to watch out for, when plugging and unplugging the USB cable constantly into the port. Finally, the software for the A61 will be Maschine Essentials, which is basically Maschine but with a smaller library, along with some other NI software. This is something that would have been a good add for the S-series when it originally came out that new users will get lucky to have. Thanks as always!

    This is interesting and informative thank you! It seems to me a lot of the things you're missing (touch strip, screens, etc) are featured in the maschine mk3. So from what I can see the A series might be a perfect companion to the main Maschine controller. I am adding live loops, keys, and maschine performance to my band's live setup along with my standard guitar playing, so the A Series looks to be the perfect choice for me. This video solved the conundrum for me thank you sir!

    I have an S49. Seems alright. And honestly the little screen is pointless. Once its plugged into your computer its faster just to use the mouse on the komplete kontrol softwear rather than clicking and scrolling that knob 100 times to find your presets. It is handy, but the little screen is almost pointless. But it does work. And for the price I have no complaints. And if your not hardcore just save your extra money and buy some more N.I. softwear instead.

      Sorry to bother you here, but what is Aftertouch, if you don't mind me asking?

    • @carrolllaw
      @carrolllaw 4 года назад +2

      Michael Maclane, after touch is a sensor at the bottom of the key travel that can modulate the sound based on how hard you press down after the initial pressing of the key. So, you can push down and let up on the key, and the after touch can modulate the filter or vibrato, etc. Hope that helps.

      The S49 and S61 use the best Semi Weighted Keys in the industry that comes from FATAR. They make the Keybed on all Nord keyboards, as well as the new up and coming company Dexibell. The A series uses a cheaper Keybed Mechanism. It's still a more premium one for entry level stuff since it's competitors use even cheaper Keybeds.

    As a grade 5 piano player, I just want to play keys when I'm on the keys so the A61 will suffice for me. Fortunately I already have the push 2, so technical swiftness is already satisfied. This keyboard (when it arrives) will still have its perks beyond playing, as I've got a lot of NI plugins. To be honest though...

    Does this keyboard have screws on the back so it's easy to repair? My problem with a lot of NI, and also Novation, gear is that the screws are concealed so you are forced to break something in order to take the unit taken apart-planned obsolescence. John Mike really? even when recording into logic or your daw?

    • @Johnmike

      Arthur Dealy I haven’t had any issues with logic or studio one...so I’m not sure who’s reporting the issue...but I’m pretty sure it would be dumb for a company to put a non-working sustain pedal jack on the back of the keyboard

    Are these 8 *endless* encoders on the A61 or just knobs ? Not a single review i've seen so far has adressed this. Also, the A series doesn't have aftertouch, just sayin :)

      Bishop Debbarma both are midi controllers only...they don’t have any built in sounds...however the S61 has built in midi in and out ports...so you can connect an external sound module and play sounds from it

    Man, let's keep it real here, shall we? if you went out and bought A, either you didn't know about S, or your ass couldn't afford it, lol. There is absolutely no way that ANYONE could honestly prefer the Model A to the Model S. I'm sitting here trying to even imagine the angle someone would even ATTEMPT to use, lol? Oh man, I don't really even like all of those amazing features. Ah man, I'm really not even trying to use all of that electricity, man. That's just greedy, lol. I'm trying to keep it green over here, man. You got to think about the kids sometimes. I mean, come on, man. What could you even TRY to pretend you're mad at, lol? Awwwww...man, that's cheating when you playing like that, lol. I ain't with all that, man. Anyway, man. Team S over here. New subscriber. Great video. Looking forward to some future stuff. Have a good one.
