Yarn over slip stitch is actually like half double crochet/ hdc.. but, not wrapped around before pulling through..incase anyone confused!
Isn’t it a herringbone hdc? I’m really tired but that’s what it looks like watching the video. Will try this out tomorrow.

This is a nice pattern, but, I think it's more appropriate for summer wear with cotton yarn because it has many holes through which cold air could get through so it's not for winter unless it has a thick very warm fleece lining.

Not a beginner pattern, more intermediate. Brim, body then a taper for the top. You are only turning the work when you dc into back of skipped stitch, not in the front of the skipped stitch. The 3 sl st at the bottom of the brim is new to me, I am excited to see the more snug fit! Nice pattern!

Awesome pattern, but in my case, I have used a thicker yarn, and the forehead part is not much stretchable so I have to make almost 14 steps around. And it turns out a bit heavy with thicker yarn.
