I just love those commentated speedruns. It's so cool to see how the game works behind the scenes and how speedrunners work with that and now with moonjump everything is just so surreal and different, it's amazing.
inspirational, I (jokingly) too wish I was so good at speedruning Twilight Princess that I can fall asleep seeing a man with a great voice talk over his recordbreaking speedruns with witty commentary.
13:37 Thank you so much for this breakdown of Link's aerial speed physics. I had messed around with the moon jump code but I noticed whenever I tried to jump forward Link would always seem to lose his forward momentum and I would just end up jumping in place. I had thought that was just the way the code worked, and also maybe why you were doing sidehop moon jumps at the beginning, or even just forward hops, since Link always seemed to start a roll when I jumped forward(? I started to wonder if that had something to do with it). Guess I was letting go of the control stick. Thanks for the info, I love learning about nuances like this!
Okay, well I guess this is the thing I needed in my life. Thank you. This category is hilarious, and the commentary is as great as ever. Looking forward to your next commentated run!
Oh yeah, I worded that pretty badly, huh. I'll make sure to call it the "first dungeon that will be completed" when I make the updated 4D VR Surround Sound version of this video in 2050.
Thanks, bewildebeest. Without you, and your contributions to the community, and you uploading this video, doing the dishes would have been really fucking boring
Great stuff, had no idea people even ran catagories with cheat codes of all things, but it definitely made for an odd and interesting run to watch, good commentary as always, love your dry humour. ^^
Thank you for making these commentated videos. Actually watching speedruns isn't quite fun but learning how the glitches work and the general gist of a run is very interesting.
I'm surprised that having midna in the master sword cutscene doesn't put her with you (kinda like how hitting the puppet gannon fight in Windwaker gives the master sword/mirror shield). I guess there's no reason to assume the behavior would be the same though.
The exact Wind Waker analog to this is that there are several cutscenes where the King of Red Lions can appear as normal even if he hasn't been spawned onto the map by beating Forsaken Fortress 1. For example, at 1:42:47 in this TAS, we see the King of Red Lions in the cutscene of the raising of Tower of the Gods, but after the cutscene, he still doesn't exist: ruclips.net/video/D585ORqqjxU/видео.html
The alternate river exit does normally lead to North Hyrule Field which then leads to Castle Town, but for some reason, taking that load zone before warping the meteor and releasing the water into the river makes the game crash.
@bewildebeest so I'm coming back to this because i think I figured out why it crashes. I've been buggering around TP with the moon jump, and if you head to that area and try to enter zora's river, there's a massive invisible wall you can't go over. I believe this invisible wall has a marker/trigger that only removes it when the zoras are freed or the area isn't covered in twilight. So the game isn't sure what state to put that chunk of hyrule castle town since the only time you would be in that part of castle town while its in the twilight state would be getting Ilia's memory back (or bag scent at the very least.)
I think you're right about the issue being states not matching, but the reason you can't get from North Hyrule Field to Upper Zora's River is that you can never do that - the river flows the opposite direction, and there isn't ever a load zone there even if you use cheats to avoid the river pushing you away. It's just a one-way path.
@bewildebeest oh fascinating, I swore as a kid I was able to stop the auto push with iron boots. But kid me might have been confusing that exit with the waterfall of zora's domain. I did find out, if you use moon jump on a randomizer file and try to do early master sword, you can glitch out the sacred grotto to trigger both versions of the Skull Kid hunt, which leads to 8 puppets chasing you around the forest and making the Skull kid fight at the end immortal. So all in all this wall of text is me working up to wanting to try this speed run myself and seeing what other tomfoolery can be done 😄
If you turn left instead of right after the single darknut, you can get outside by hitting a crystal switch and then fighting two darknuts instead of the torch puzzle and then two dynalfos.
Can you jump over the fence at the last fight against Ganon and if so: What happens? Can you do anything? Do you just void out? Can you maybe even talk to Zelda? I'm curious.
You can do that, and Ganondorf can do a jumping attack to follow and get out of the arena as well. The most interesting thing you can do out there is get back on Epona and ride her into the arena, but she doesn't do much. You can't talk to Zelda.
@@bewildebeest What happens if you ride away from Ganon? Can you get back into another load zone somewhere and what happens then? I assume none of that actually matters for the speedrun unless you'd manage to somehow despawn Ganon by being too far and the game somehow counting it as a kill.
One question about skipping the boss key cutscene: Why don't you just let Link die from fall damage? Is that too slow or is there a ceiling preventing you to?
Ah, yes, the first dungeon of Twilight Princess.
*Hyrule Castle.*
You got A Link to the Past in my Twilight Princess!
I just love those commentated speedruns. It's so cool to see how the game works behind the scenes and how speedrunners work with that and now with moonjump everything is just so surreal and different, it's amazing.
u are definitely THE twilight princess speedrunner in my heart
albedo is a tp fan?? got DAMN

link jumping during the cutscenes as if he were on a trampoline is the best visual
17:21 well akschually the first dungeon of the run is actually the forest temple. Literally unwatchable
Congrats on the WR sir, that was fun!
Oh yeah, I worded that pretty badly, huh. I'll make sure to call it the "first dungeon that will be completed" when I make the updated 4D VR Surround Sound version of this video in 2050.
Or you'll probably find a way to skip it before that, who knows

Love these commentated vids, you're so good at structuring, writing, voicing, and producing the runs for these :)
Your voice is literally perfect for this it’s just so relaxing to hear
I like this category way better than any%. It's just so chaotic
Thank-you for making another one of these commentated runs. They're my favorite thing to listen/sleep to and now I have another one in the library
Another fantastic commentary! What a fun and interesting category :)
4:57 wrong it's the engine mapping wolf link animations to normal link bones nothing about textures or coordinates
Everything is starting to make sense

Really cool, I enjoy you`re commentated speedruns very much!
As always, love comented runs. Not a speedrunner, but it is nevertheless fascinating the innerworking of it.
Obligatory "oh no..."
Lantern my beloved ❤
Great video with great commentary! Top quality. Very enjoyable to watch 🙂👍
Need more commentated runs like this bruh!!
you're voice is so nice

Link during this run
Can you make a commentated all dungeons with Moon jump video.
I plan to learn that category eventually, so maybe

I’m sorry when link was supposed to be a wolf, that was pretty great 😭 🐺
Wait, doesnt the alternate river exit in Upper zora's River lead to hyrule castle town? Or is that exit on the opposite side of the golden wolf spawn?
The alternate river exit does normally lead to North Hyrule Field which then leads to Castle Town, but for some reason, taking that load zone before warping the meteor and releasing the water into the river makes the game crash.

Why do you save to new slots? Does it avoid a confirmation text box? That’s the only thing I can think of at least
You got it
What's the slower strategy for getting past the lantern puzzle at 19:45 that doesn't use the lantern?
If you turn left instead of right after the single darknut, you can get outside by hitting a crystal switch and then fighting two darknuts instead of the torch puzzle and then two dynalfos.
I am 30 seconds in and this is already amazing
Great video!!
Link forgot to do his morning Yoga before picking up the master sword.

@@Doppel95 Load zones are inactive, aside from voiding, which respawns you and Ganondorf in the arena.

Yep, there's a ceiling inside the chamber I'd be trapped in with the boss key chest, so fall damage wouldn't work.
If there was no ceiling you wouldn't even need the deathwarp, you could just go back out the same way you came in.
