Jeff, you are honestly the greatest human on earth. Me and my wife just bought a house and I can’t even begin to explain to you the amount of confidence you have me to do my own renovations. All your videos are so clear and precise. Thank you man please never stop doing what you’re doing
Back in the day before the web this How To would have been at least $30 DVD or VHS tape sold as a series. Jeff thank you so much!!! 5 hours of free How to stuff from a contractor and no charge to me - Incredible
I love Jeff - he handled making a mistake with the drawers so well, and leaves it in the video instead of cutting it around. This is what makes these videos so approachable. Those are mistakes I would make too, and I appreciate seeing someone else who does this so much make it too, and share the good, the bad, and the ugly
I made the other mistake, the one he described, rather than showing. Where you attach the bottom draw face panel using the same screw holes as the other drawers and then realise it's sitting about 2cm too high when you slide the draw in lol. This guys channels cool, my builder told me to just go to Ikea for my kitchen cabinets and I've literally never bought anything from there cause I assumed it was cheap and nasty and I like real timber, but it's been great, super easy to return stuff, the online planning was useful ... it's actually great to be honest
Do you have any videos that show how to improve subfloor to make it feel more stiff and sturdy and more sound proof before covering it with laminate (I mean more sound proof beside using super expensive underlayment)?
I completed my laundry rebuild with ikea cabinets. Including removing the broom closet to create more space, retiling the floors, new plasterboard, painting and subway tile backsplash. Thanks for the tips!
Jeff I truly think you try to take care of us (subs/viewers) and try to help us out (in Canadian oot)! Like the affiliates stuff, your trying to hook us up with good prices on stuff and that makes you the best youtube channel out there! Thanks man and I'm sure lots of peeps would agree, your awesome!
I‘ve been implement your tips and tricks into my own DIY work. Basically I started a renovation company just by watching your contents. There are two men in my life that changes me , Confucius and you Jeff!! Gratitude from half way across the world.
I have finally reached the end off this awesome video. 3 days of watching and replaying parts. I feel so much more confident in fitting my new ikea kitchen. Loved the fact that you even included the mistakes and errors. Thank you so much
Hello fellow viewers. If you noticed, Jeff put in chapters and timestamps in the timeline... that is, if you hover over the timeline on the bottom of the video, you will see that he broke the entire video down into chapters. So there's no need to watch the entire 5.5 hour video from start to end. Just figure out which chapter is relevant and you can watch just that section only. Thanks Jeff for putting in chapters in the timeline!
Hey Robert!! It was fun chatting with you in last night's Reality Renovision Premier! Thank you for posting this comment. It's 'Good to Know' information!
I got through the bottom cabinet stuff thinking "ah what a great video" and then I realized I had 4 hours left and was like WHAT!? This truly is A to Z. Thank you so much.
I couldn't resist commenting: The first 10 minutes of watching and I find my self hooked to the video for the excellent level of detail presented. Five hours & 20 minutes to go. Thank you.
Your face in the Thumbnail was my reaction when I saw the length of this clip. Absolute details. Always love your little tips and tricks along the videos.
At first I was like, "wow this guy is so dang nice and likable," and then he said he was based in Canada and I was like "ahhhh that makes sense now." xD Thanks for the great content that is not only informational but entertaining to watch. :)
I do ...... zero diy but once i clicked his videos can't stop till end ... The information that's given as he goes along for every little thing and explains the ' how to or how not to ' Is amazing.. practical learning Amazing.. Great job im sure your are helping many many people .... Best wishes...
We have an Ikea-based kitchen and we have been happy with it for over 10 years. I do find a lot of people look down their noses at Ikea and I'm glad you are positive about them. In our experience the labor for the install was relatively cheap compared to flooring, floor installation labor, granite countertop and new appliances.
So fun to see this all together! Your Ikea kitchen install video are actually how I ended up on this channel last spring, and I've been hooked ever since!
WOW😆😉the finished kitchen is BEAUTIFUL. I’ve watched most of this series and having every video with a time stamp is soooo helpful. Now if and when IKEA restocks the cabinets I’m READY.
I’m from Norway, and the most important thing I’ve learned from this vid is that the metric system is WAY easier and better than using inches😅 Great vid tho! About to assemble my own kitchen (and first ever) in my apartment, so this will help a lot💯
I didn't even watch the video, I just know I've done a couple of Ikea kitchens and multiple renovations with other products. It's a relief doing it with Ikea, the products are generally better quality, less expensive, and a HECK of a lot more DIY friendly. It's much easier to achieve professional looking results even when you're not a professional.
i don't even own a home or plan on doing a reno but this is very great and educational content. i always watch your videos for the hell of it but i always appreciate the knowledge and explanation you throw into the videos. thank you!
We installed an island at a farmhouse we bought. I did about 45" (which I didn't measure - I used the "that looks good method based on my size and how I needed the kitchen to function). Now I can have the dishwasher open and put dishes away in the island and still have 4-5" clearances without them touching. I like it :)
Your videos are awesmome. I'm a school teacher so I can't pay people to redo my bathrooms or kitchen. (The quotes here in Florida are like 15,000 dollars just to remodel a small bathroom). So you are a savior for me. I'm remodeling my bathroom now but will do my kitchen next. I will save over 10,000 dollars.
Hey Jeff! I LOVE this series!!! This is so helpful i’ve watched this 5 hour video so many times to prep for my kitchen. I really wish you had a video for upper wall cabinets me and my husband really struggled our ceiling it was so uneven and our house has 12” studs!!
Wow you have done a fantastic job in explaining every single detail and I’m so glad I found your channel. Your kitchen reno video gave me the confidence that I can also renovate my kitchen. I look forward to more of your content!
This man is awesome. Best quality and longevity in content on RUclips to reference. Closing on my first home in a few days and this channel gives me the know and understanding to tackle projects!!!!
The mysteries of IKEA solved in one video! Great job and epic video. Now if I can just get my Sektion cabinet frames that are on indefinite back order due to the pandemic rush. I'm thinking of just building my own cabinet carcasses and putting the IKEA drawers, doors and fronts that have been sitting in my garage for 3 months on them.
Loved this. I was curious about IKEA kitchen cabinets. I was afraid the quality may not be good. Jeff made me feel safe getting the kitchen I have been eyeing for over 2 years! Plus, he was loving his "sexy" new kitchen! I have learned soooo much. And it has given me the confidence to buy my own power tools (I am the wife..hubby not too interested) , and try things. I've redone a bedroom and it gave me confidence. I will be buying the flooring he recommends for a bedroom with old vinyl planks and the laundry room and the entry with marble tile with not my favorite.
I ran into same issue with new dishwasher in a 30 year old ikea kitchen with floor tile installed after the fact. Had the big gap at the top of the DW, so I just installed 2x4 runners with fronts mitered like a ramp. So then the gaps at the bottom which was covered by the adjustable skirting covers. Anchored the DW top and sides. Works like a charm.
Wow where did those 5 and a half hours go? Great video! This just goes to show you don't necessarily have to appease the RUclips algorithm by making 10 minute videos.
Here in the US midwest, Menards lumber has a similar line of cabinets. They studied at IKEA to make their cabinets. They go up very similar. Grandmother here who needed my husband only for lifting muscle when I built my new kitchen.
Thank you for great video. Well filmed good audio and explanation. I have to install built in oven in really old kitchen between two old non standard size cupboards. Oven would be protruding about 10cm. I think the easiest way is to buy IKEA kitchen cupboard for £170 or few separate and fit together.
Wow fantastic timing. My brother and I have been following you since we started to do renos a few years ago. And we are just about to finish a house, and the last part is we are going to rebuild the kitchen and we just bought all of the ikea items we need and planning to install soon.
You are the best!!! I am currently installing my Ikea kitchen and this and your other videos on Ikea and backsplash install has made it a breeze! I have this video up on my laptop as I go through step by step to rewatch things. I appreciate you so much!
I appreciate this video and this channel. Your videos are second to none in the detail provided on how to get jobs done RIGHT. That said, as easy as you've described this installation to be, I promise I would somehow screw it up.
Greatness as always. One thing I would say with Ikea cabinets, you forgot to include the part where putting in the filler pieces between and end of cabinets. I've seen many first timers mess up that part.
Is this a sign? My customer wants a new kitchen and is on a very tight budget. I might actually ask them to consider these style cabinets. Thanks for posting this. 👍
I love your videos, learning so much. It becomes easy when you see someone actually doing a project, ie. Installing counter tops. Perfect! Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
I have built many Ikea cabinets. I use carpenter's glue for the wood dowels and I have a set of hex bits for my drill which I set the clutch from 1 to maximum 5. Give yourself a break. I have 2 plastic folding tables. I tape a piece of clean cardboard on the tables and that's where I do the assembly. It's so easy to damage your cabinet working off the floor. It's also not very comfortable. It will take you 10 minutes to set all this up. It's well worth it. The new instruction booklets are well done. They are all visual. No more bad translation from Swedish to Chinese to Japanese to Spanish to English. 🤣😉
Fantastic tutorial! No surprise there, since all your videos are very insightful. Would it be possible to make a video about wall cabinets, including installation of a crown molding and a cover strip to hide the lights? Great watching. Thanks for sharing.
I own no house and not planning any renovation any time soon but the knowledge this man is out here providing I’d feel like a fool not saving it to my favorite videos just in case I ever need this in the future! 😂
I totally agree. I’d never done a kitchen before and did our IKEA kitchen 10 years ago saving hubby 30k. The best flat pack kitchens avail to us here in Oz. Blum best quality mechanisms and draw boxes.
I had a kitchen remodel as part of a large combination living/family, dining room open space that was all stripped down to the sub floor but I hadn't decided on the floor product yet. The kitchen cabinetry was installed on the sub floor as he did because it had to be in place for the countertop installation. Later I settled on an engineered wood flooring but that added almost 1/2" around the cabinet bases - no problem there. Luckily the fridge barely slid in with almost zero clearance from the upper cabinet - but the problem came that the dishwasher wouldn't fit under the counter with the wood floor in place so had to be positioned on the sub floor. This created a substantial lip in front that made it difficult to slide the unit in and out for servicing and didn't look particularly good under close scrutiny - I just had to live with it. BTW: Instead of just closing it off, I'd adapt that 4" space on the end for storage of large baking sheets or serving trays.
Hi Jeff. Thanks so much for the great videos. I like many others would like to know which Vinyl plank flooring collection did you use from Decorner. I see that they have rebranded. Does the wear layer thickness include the backing now preinstalled on products. I assume that this mod replaces need for separate underpad. I am a single female that will be doing install alone. I really need the simplest product. Thanks so much.
Around a stove hot Pots can be transferred that’s why Granite is used next to cooking surfaces I just purchased a fixer home and the Formica nest to the stove has on both sides has pot burn marks just FYI. You might go with Maple Butcher block or even Granite tiles just a suggestion
Where did you say you bought the pot lights from, please and Thank you! I just want to tell you that you are the 🐐 of RUclips building and renovation!! Please keep bringing great content!! 😊
Amazing and thorough video but missing the one piece of info I've been looking for, how to do the filler panels between appliances. Thanks for the upload!
Void warranty on the tub when you drilled the dishwasher in place. The same anchors that got to the top you can install on the sides. And then drill the screw through the anchor.
So in the video for the floor you say go to your affiliate page on your site, which says no longer exists, and use code in description but I don't see a code either. Is this still a floor you recommend? Is there somewhere to get it? Thanks!
do you have an A to Z on board and Batten accent wall? I did a quick search and came up short on locating this. I like your work and all of your videos help tremendously. keep it up.
just gotta say as a plumber. your dishwasher installation get a 2 out of 10 rating. You installed it 2-3" to low needed raised up. You put the toe kick on before you ran it and can't see if you have a leak on the water supply. You also did not plumb the machine left to right, you can tell the reveal on the right side grows as you run your eyes down the machine. (Could be the cabinets...but you installed those too.) all in all, great job! I'm just a picky plumber lol. Also, always silicone your basket strainers, plumbers puddy is junk. And that foam gasket will be leaking in a week. Your professional homeowner water supply lines (the pex) come up in the cabinet backwards. Hot is on the left. Also using your channel locks backwards tightening the strainer.
Very informative, entertaining, and great looking result, Jeff! Thank you! One point, though. It appears you have created a deprecated "S" trap (not code in the US, anyway). You should install a Studor valve at the top of the vertical riser and T into the vertical riser with the sink drain. Yes? Best wishes.
Just about to kick off a home reno starting with the kitchen, this vid will be treated like the gospel, lol. Keep up the good work Jeff! Cheers from Trinidad and Tobago!
Hi! I cant tell you how much I enjoy your willingness to help us novices make final decisions on what will make diy actually enjoyable. The flooring you installed though, what is it? You never name it by name and the affiliate code is gone..being that the video is years old. Do you still back the product, what is it, or what do you use now that compares?
Thanks a lot, I'm just starting the same project with the same concept with Ikea cabinets next Tuesday. This video secure me mentally 🤣. Great job!!!!!!!!
Is there a video teaching how to measure for cabinets? Do I have to pull out my cabinets to decide on the sizes? And, do you have a video to show how to install a exhaust fan in the kitchen. I have a kitchen that has impossible cabinets. It would be better to have empty space rather than try to get to the back of them. I have an idea to rearrange the 1982 kitchen that would solve the problem but would involve moving the stove and fan. I love watching your videos and I honestly think my son and I could follow your lead and put in a new kitchen. 🤞🤞🤞
This was perfect, just finished watching the entire video, you're quite entertaining, so wasn't boring at all. Even put you on 1.25x speed at times for parts that i'm already familiar with. Either way, just wanted to comment that this was really informative and will surely help me ALOT building my kitchen that's arriving next week. So thank you!
As always great and useful content, just a recommendation when it comes to your electrical work. Always use sleeving for your CPC (Earth Wire)and when you pushed in your white cable, which I'm assuming is your neutral, there was copper showing which shouldn't be showing outside the wago (push fit connector).
You had a screw left over from the tall drawers, I saw a dimple on the rear race, quickly flashed by. Maybe they want up/down support at the rear, like the front, hence the long screw.
Love how the kitchen turned out. My wife and I watched your video and she loved the look with no upper cabinets. I'm not going to lie, we're going to copy a lot of what you did. The colors and layout looks great and for us will tie into the rest of our house.
Hi. How did you secure the island? Im stuck at that part unfortunately seems like video skips over that part. Thanks for all the great videos, very helpful!
Thank you! finally somebody that recognizes IKEA's merits in terms of style, easy installation and price. I've always used Ikea for my home (wherever that was) and it has always looked stylish and durable and plain clean cut. TV's been using Ikea like a joke for years (Idk why) but as you said, many of us can't afford thousands of $ for a kitchen. And it's recyclable.
I finished entire kitchen remodel project last year. Your instructions and advice were the key to our success! Came back to say thank you so much!
Jeff, you are honestly the greatest human on earth. Me and my wife just bought a house and I can’t even begin to explain to you the amount of confidence you have me to do my own renovations. All your videos are so clear and precise. Thank you man please never stop doing what you’re doing

Hey Jeff this is fantastic thank you. Do you do anything secure the island cabinets to the floor?
Around a stove hot Pots can be transferred that’s why Granite is used next to cooking surfaces
I just purchased a fixer home and the Formica nest to the stove has on both sides has pot burn marks just FYI. You might go with Maple Butcher block or even Granite tiles just a suggestion
Where did you say you bought the pot lights from, please and Thank you! I just want to tell you that you are the 🐐 of RUclips building and renovation!! Please keep bringing great content!! 😊
Jeff thank you for all you do. I enjoy your videos and you have taken my do it your selfer to the next level.
Using the whole drill, backwards- that’s what I do on most projects when I have to drill opening on finished side. Works so nice
proud to say i watched every single second start to finish. Massive help for when we do our ikea kitchen in the future. Cheers
I like your work and all of your videos help tremendously. keep it up.
What size screws are you using for the suspension rails?
just gotta say as a plumber. your dishwasher installation get a 2 out of 10 rating.
You installed it 2-3" to low needed raised up.
You put the toe kick on before you ran it and can't see if you have a leak on the water supply.
You also did not plumb the machine left to right, you can tell the reveal on the right side grows as you run your eyes down the machine. (Could be the cabinets...but you installed those too.)
all in all, great job!
This is the bible equivalent for DIY Kitchen Reno! Thank you Jeff for created this Masterpiece!
What I genius!! literally watched the whole video this kitchen idea is everything
Hey Jeff! Really enjoyed this video. I was wondering if you put cans around your led recessed lighting or if that is necessary?
I jumped off the couch to try and save the panel at 38:35. Gave my wife a jump scare 😂. Thanks for the great content!
Just found your channel. Amazing info and clear presentation. Thanks!
I am enjoying this. Also like you using Imperial measurements. So easier than that metric stuff.
As always great and useful content, just a recommendation when it comes to your electrical work. Always use sleeving for your CPC (Earth Wire)and when you pushed in your white cable, which I'm assuming is your neutral, there was copper showing which shouldn't be showing outside the wago (push fit connector).
I did this and the hardest part was to make the plan and make shure the layout was ok... une 4000$ for the whole kitchen includin Hugo island.
Huge island...sorry
Keep up the great work! Love the videos. Short and Long format!
Thanks! Will do! Cheers Ian!
Great video! I am getting the confidence to redo my own kitchen using IKEA products.
I use a metal putty knife to open the boxes. Can split the glue pretty easily without risking the material.
These vids are so informative even tho im not doing any renovations.
