Just stumbled across your channel about thirty minutes ago. When you told your wife that you like spending time with her I had to pause the video because my eyes instantly filled up with tears. Nothing speaks louder about a mans character than the way he treats his wife! For that reason alone I’m subscribing!🥰 Thank you for being the kind of Man that all men should aspire to be! What a great example you are setting for your son!❤️

He's such a great example of a good father. He has given his sons steady employment while teaching them DIY skills & talks very highly of his wife. I loooove their chemistry. You can tell he appreciates the woman who gave him his babies & he loves them dearly. Jeff seems like a good, honest working & loving man. Plus he has a good sense of humor. I find myself laughing even when he's not trying to be funny. I'm glad his channel & businesses are doing so well! He's helped countless people cuz he's such a skilled & understanding teacher.

What I've come to appreciate about Jeff's style is that it is truly for the average home owner. You can tell he has the experience to know where to take shortcuts and where not to. Cutting is the perfect example. Some of these you tube "diy" channels have table saw benches the size of tennis courts with jigs, stops, and dust collection systems that would make a lumber mill blush. Thanks for keeping it relatable Jeff!

@@james.ainsworth James - I tried to install this type of flooring in a bedroom and because some of my floor wasn't level, I ended up taking the flooring (18 boxes ) back and ended up installing 3/4" actual hardwood floor. I got a floor nailer at Harbor Freight. Had a small compressor. That went in way easier. There is hardly any room for error and It assumes that your floors are level. Very aggravating for me... to say the least...

Hi Jeff, I have been a DIYer all my life and I actually enjoy tiling but I was fifty before I discovered the system for keeping the tills flat and level that you are going to show here, my only wish is that you had started your tips and tricks about thirty five years earlier so I could find out them as I started DIY. The main problems were that you would have been about three years old and not have all the experience then and the other problem was the internet did not exist then (we only had two TV channels and black & white) keep up the incredible advice, I will not be able to use most of them simply becauce i am seventy years old and would not be able to lift one of those tiles never mine all the work .and Jeff, back buttering is nothing like toast, that is because you have never seen me butter toast

I had to go into the attic a few years back to see where the critters were entering and I was crazy itchy from touching the stuff. You had short sleeves on and a mask only part of the time. What is the recommended way to handle the pink insulation?

  • @dross24MA
    @dross24MA 2 года назад

You asked?!? Here are my projects to be accomplished before I am 80 (now am 75):::
--. Paint kitchen cabinets. *Where do I find that primer you used?* Yes, they are that 1980s particle board w/vinyl laminate.
--. Repair or replace drawers whose runners have fallen apart & replace cabinet doors that pulled off from kids hanging on them.
--. Add insulation to eaves/access area now that the roof has been replaced and the solar panels are installed. (Your video...?)
--. Replace damaged ceiling and wall drywall panels due to roof leakage during stormy spring resulting in brown & grey stains.
--. Fix floor tiles, sub-floor & supports next to tub where flooring rotted after tenant broke tiles & leaked water from shower.
--. Replace decking on rear deck and fix attachment to house where wood rotted out. (Saw your video yesterday.)
--. Build shed to replace aluminum one - center beam bent when snow slid off house & won't straighten out. (Will use your video.)
--. Replace or rehang front and rear storm & regular doors so they stay closed and I can no longer see light around them.
--. Finish the basement so it is usable as a rec room with extra sleeping space and a bath plus storage.
--. Install a shower or tub/shower in existing half bath upstairs to create "Master Suite".
Whew! Hmmmmm....think maybe I need an assistant?

Option 3, grout line of 3mm. Modern tiling uses 2-3 mm grouting here in Europe. This will only work though if the tiles are rectified. If not you need the wider grout line to allow for irregularities. I may have missed whether your tiles are rectified or not. Most tiles in Europe now are rectified, the finish is much more modern with smaller grout lines.

That means the rest of the painting I've chosen to do myself. My house is currently on the market to sell and I don't want it looking sloppy. Jeff I started my remodeling career46 years ago on a 1912 2 story house about like the one you did. The difference is that I worked a full time job as a UPS local delivery driver. I would take my income tax every year and buy another house to remodel. Now I am retired and have about 55 college students renting off of me for a good yearly retirement income with the UPS retirement as well. I just sold the first house rental duplex that the tenants paid for 3 times over. Your remodel is beautiful. Thanks for all your videos.

I was so excited to change bathroom faucets in my 1955 ranch home , got the plumbing gadgets to remove spouts and handles , and I got stuck on the drain because it's so badly rusted and I'm not strong enough to turn I tried everything like clr or heating it up blah blah blah, nothing worked so it's been left there unfinished for 2 years🫣😆

I definitely think this is doable by most home owners. My biggest question is if we need to cover or completely avoide any hardware or wires that we might see from lighting and fans that are connected to the ceilings below/ floor boards of the attics? Can the spray insulation cause a fire Hazzard of it touches any of those types of things things?

    • @jimithompson7442
      @jimithompson7442 2 года назад

Oh it's easy. /end sarcasm. Rip out the existing ceiling. Deal with the insulation and rat poop. Figure out with a structural engineer where and how big to put the new collar ties so your house doesn't collapse or end up damaged by wind or snow loads. Install said collar ties. Remove ceiling joists. Reroute any hvac plumbing and electrical to be above new ceiling height. This isn't always easy since code dictates placement in a lot of locations. Install new insulation. Install new drywall. Tape mud prime and paint all on the angled ceiling. That's the general list of tasks. Not really DIY projects. Flat ceilings are difficult enough at 10 to 12 feet without adding angles, major structural changes, major changes to other systems and oodles of working over your head. And the overhead stuff sucks rocks. Your shoulders will not be happy for a long time.

I need help at my Maryland house. Can you come and do a segment to enclose my gazebo and my up the stairs accent wall that my grandson left undone? You are so very good at this stuff.

You must live in a warm place. Here in Canada if we isolate corner of the roof in the attic, we get ice barrage where the outside edge of the roof is cold and freezes, and the rest of the roof is warmer and melts at the end of winter, which creates a pool of water on the roof retained by the ice barrage on the edges, and then infiltrates.

Yeah putting the screws in after your first three rows is a pretty good idea Been There Done fought with the moving floor and then 20 rows later nothing clicks wish I would have put them screws in

    Hi Jeff,
I’ve been subscribed to your channel for a couple months now and often end up watching you for hours on end. I really enjoy your channel and really wish I could do what teach!
I have an issue with my steam shower leaking onto my basement ceiling. And I’d like to fix and use my shower. A plumber checked the pipes sometime ago but never found the leak. The shower is old Italian title from floor to ceiling. In fact the entire bathroom is covered in the same title floor and all walls in the bathroom. What should I try next? Could it be the grout eroding? I have abandoned using my shower for a long time and I’d like to resume enjoying my master bathroom. Any suggestions? I also have an old hot water sink fixture that will not turn on!
I’d like to replace the old fixtures and regain proper use of the sink. Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated!
Best to you and your family,
    Keliyah
    Thanks in advance!

Hi! I’m a fan! Can we talk about paint quality? Maybe there’s already a video. Let me know, I’ll watch it. What makes quality paint? Coverage? Durability? Dry time?
I ask because I’ve been happy with my HD Behr Marqee 😬 but it was so thick it took almost a gallon to paint a bathroom…other paints would give me better coverage with less paint?

Nice to see all the progress on the house, and then the final finish. Is so cool to see you both on Google Street View. Looks like Matt is flipping the bird to the camera. lol

I think I get the point about pre-painted trims and baseboards. However, when you paint walls and ceiling - wouldn't the paint splatter onto the floor? There's always something flying from under the roller..

Jeff, I didn’t see the name of the hardwood floor in the description below. Please let me know what it is. (I’m in the U.S.).

I was watching you discuss what vinyl plank floor to purchase. I believe it was a later version. You also were going to provide the name of the vinyl plank and the under pad I don't know where it is on RUclips. Is there a playlist of your programs?

One day I will be either buying an old house or build one from scratch and if I get stuck on something I can just say "What would Jeff do?"

I have a question on the insulation. I have an older home and I need to add more insulation. So do I need to put the rolls down over top of old stuff then do the blow in stuff on top of it? And will I need to get up in attic to spread all of it around? If so I need to do it in winter months because I live in FL and it gets hot in attic. Is hose long enough to reach around I have a lot of sq ft. And 2-3 access points to attic and one is upstairs and that machine wouldn’t fit and I couldn’t get it lifted. LoL. First timer trying to save money on repairs and remodeling home. Thanks.
