You have a really really impressive presence on camera, I can't believe I'm only finding out who you are through this comment, but you did a really good job on this
Dude, Adrian was a badass. He fought in the Boer War and both World Wars, and was shot in the face, head, stomach, ankle, leg, hip, and ear; was blinded in his left eye; survived two plane crashes; tunneled out of a prisoner-of-war camp; and tore off his own fingers when a doctor declined to amputate them. He was, as the song said, pretty much unkillable. The guy managed to retire, and died peacefully at the age of 83.
Based on the name at the end, he was a lieutenant general in the British army. He was involved in the boer war, the first world War, and the second world War. The scenes you saw was in exact detail as to what happened to him. Thats why the song was called the unkillable soilder because he was the unkillable soldier back then.
Wouldn't really call the video an accurate description in any way. For example, he lost his eye during the Somaliland campaign in 1914 before he ever made it to France.
Except for the part where the nurse amputated his hand. The medics insisted on saving the hand, and apparently that would have kept him off of the battlefield for to long because he chopped it off himself like an absolute mad lad when they weren’t looking.
I love that they got Indy Neidell to be the Unkillable Soldier. He actually runs the Sabaton History channel here on RUclips, where he explains the facts and history behind the music. Well worth checking out.
Adrian Carton De Wairt was literally too hyped to die. When studying as a lawyer, he stated that "war was in his blood", before joining the British during the Boer War. Then, while in his 30s, he enlisted during ww1. During ww1, he had his eye blown out, his left hand mangled by a grenade which he tore his remaining fingers off with his teeth after the medic refused to amputate. He also went on to be shot at least 11 times. After ww1, he moved to poland to help them fight the soviets, then WW2 broke out. He once again enlisted *at 61* During ww2, he survived a plane crash and managed to escape not one, but 2 prison camps. After ww2 ended, he still took part in world afairs, including telling *MAO ZEDONG* that he hated communism to his face. He also survived a second plane crash while in China. After all that, you'd think he died in battle? Nope. He died at his home in Ireland *at 83*
The music video of this song is unreal. Like the production quality is unreal! Sabaton never disappoints! Indy Niedell is national treasure, and I love that he plays characters in the videos!
Alex, if you’re truly interested in learning more about him, I recommend checking out the quick biography on Carton de Wiart over on the World War Two channel. It’s hosted by Indy Neidell, the guy who plays Carton de Wiart in this video. The dude was a total badass, he literally removed his own fingers after a doctor refused to amputate them. He makes Rambo look like a Pansy.
The man took more bullets and damage than 50 Cents. He said frankly I enjoyed the war I wonder if it was because of the gorgeous nurse that kept fixing him up. The guy who plays the Unkillible Soldier is the same guy does the Sabaton History Channel. This video also reminds of Monty Python and the Holy Grail the Black Knight scene where he gets both his arms and legs get hacked off and he says it but a flesh wounds.
They let him keep his own personal set of pajamas with the medics, so he'd be more comfortable next time he got injured. Only person ever honored in this way
Fun fact: the actor that play's adrians role is actually sabaton's historian! Its a awesome lad and you can check him out in sabaton's history channel. He also played in a other music video as well called "seven pillars of wisdom". Enjoy!
"survived several plane crashes, lost an eye and a hand, sustained eleven grievous injuries: He fully dedicated his life to military services. Whenever there was a war, Adrian Carton De Wiart was there. "Frankly, I had enjoyed the war", he said - peacefully passing away at the age of 83 in 1963."
If Hollywood decide to make a movie about this guy it would bomb. The stuff he survived, one event after another, would make the audience think someone is taking the mickey out of them. His story is unbelievable.
Definitely! Shot through the eye twice, survived two f***ing plane crashes, grenade blasts, was shot 27 times, tearing up his own fingers when a doctor refused to amputate them... It's beyond comprehension how he could have survived all that, and still wanted more!

One thing about Sabaton that everyone realizes without knowing is that the reason they can evoke such strong emotions isn't because it is a real story.
