Some beautiful human beings have created and sustained a very special music scene in the heart of Mexico City. Thanks to VICE for sharing this with the world. Anyone who downvoted this video is beyond redemption.
Nice to see older guys enjoying their life like this. Most men don't like to dance because they feel ashamed, they can't loosen up without the alcohol. We should take example from the Patricios ;-)
He's found himself..who he is, and what he likes. He's made friends, socializes with them and stays active, and dances like there's no tomorrow as a relief from everyday stress. In my opinion, that's freaking awesome! He's winning at life cause that's way more than most people can say about their own lives, myself included.
no matter whether i like it or not, i HAVE to respect the fact that these people do exactly what they want and let go when they are there. i envy that. truly.
There a big wave of disco music throughout mexico nowadays with alot of young, new producers, influenced by italo, new beat, hi-nrg and cosmic stuff. Almost like Mexico is becoming the new disco capital of the world. Love it!
Such a shame to see such ignorance and critiques here... Who of us when we were teens were fortunate enough to "find our tribe".. Find that scene where we fit like a glove, it allowed us to meet good solid friends, helped us find and stake our small place in the larger world. How many of us still have "our tribe".. most of us dont..most of us still remember those days when we were having the time of our lives.. these folks here unlike most of us found their tribe and have kept it together all these years. A testament to them and I'm overjoyed and deeply jealous that they have maintained what I could not yet still miss to this day. The love of music, 'clubbing', dancing and 'the scene' doesnt die just because you turn 25.. It's a damned shame that music seems to be an escape allowed for teens that often have little value for it's legacy. The folks I go to for music knowledge are all older people that were eyeball deep in it during the brith of it all, not some 19 year old that only listens to what their friends like to listen to.. I love documentaries like this..reminds me that there are folks out there that are quite different from me living their lives to the fullest.. Keep em coming Vice.. I know what your doing and i'm loving it..

I am a huge Italo Disco fan, 29 years old, and I totally get these people. I would rather be in my 40s and still able to dance my ass off to my favourite music, surrounded by friends, then only getting exercise from waking up at 5 a.m. to jog or power walk or whatever boring thing is supposed to be acceptable at that age.
VICE should have delved a little more on were this music came from, this is what Disco became after the anti disco rallies in the USA, it was pretty much European 80s disco, (some Italo-Disco songs are pretty much considered part of the HI-NRG repertoire) Canadian 80s disco acts, and still some underground stuff from the USA which was only popular with the gay culture of the 80s in there, actually the only places where you would be able to listen to this in the USA in the 80s were Gay clubs, as disco was totally barred away with the end of the 70s rallies, that's why 90% of Americans are ignorant about this, and call it shit like "90s Techno" (they don't even know what actual techno music is anyway either) or stuff like that.
i think you're the only one in these comments who understand hi-NRG and it's placement in the development of electronic music culture. so many here didn't know of it until they watched this, and they are still complaining after witnessing something new and foreign to their senses . this video was awesome! i knew mexico had a thriving hi-NRG culture still but had never experienced it (neither here nor there - was too young for Hi-NRG's heyday) let alone seen footage of it. Sigan bailando al final y tomando sin parar!
Why so much hate over this? Hi-NRG Disco is great stuff. I'm a big fan of EDM, and like fans of Rock often like classic rock, I like classic EDM too. I'm 20, and I have to admit I like early 80's Disco and Hi-NRG more than most EDM of today.
Also, I have probably like days worth of Patrick Miller mixes and also tons of radio mixes from stations in the US like WBMX and WGCI, etc etc. I don't know how any EDM fan can't respect our history
putumban96 Chicago House is what led me to Hi-NRG. Chicago House artists also were inspired by Disco artists. And the Hi-NRG I like really isn't this kind in the video, but more so the early 80's stuff from the US and Canada before it got really cheesy. The stuff in this video I'm guessing (If they could play the real stuff and not use copyright safe generic music lol) is probably the late 80's stuff which does suck.
putumban96 In fact if you ever listen to old Chicago House radio mixes from WBMX most the stuff they mixed into their sets were Italo-Disco and Hi-NRG from the early 80s
its amazing how i see this video now. my dad is from mexico city now living in houston and i was born here 20 years ago...he always listened to this music and now i understand what this music means to him. thanks for this video.
I have a soft spot in my heart for 80's synthesizer-heavy tracks as it reminds me of my childhood. So I say HI-NRG is pretty bad ass. Stuff that sounds like this is a big reason I got into electronic music and the jungle/drum and bass scene back in the mid to late 90's, so much respect to the sounds that came before the ones I love that it was built off of.
mexicans love to party more than anyone on earth. drinking and dancing, they just love it. they love upbeat music. i think they are the least shy people on earth, lol.
This is some weird shit. But I like having my eyes opened by different cultures and sub-cultures in other parts of the world. They are doing their own thing and enjoying themselves, not hurting anybody. Good for them!
There are elements of the 80's still around, but this is a true time freeze. Imagine when the teenagers of today when they're 40, 50 in 20, 30 years, and still listening to skrillex and wearing undercut haircuts. But 50 years old.

It makes sense in a sort of mid-80s Blue Monday way. A Tuesday 80s night taken to a genre specific extreme? Kids, this will all make sense when you are in your late 30s or early 40s when the music you grew with and partied to gets put on as a once a week, or a once every 2 weeks club night, known affectionately as "Retro night."
Vice should clarify that this is just another underground group in Mexico social society , in Mexico we have different kinds of people who live and listen different type of music is like hipsters in USA not because some are hipsters that means all Americans are hipsters. Don't generalized

If you haven't noticed, nearly all of their videos are about specific phenomena. Making more videos about entire countries in general would be pointless, because thousands of people go in and out of most countries every day. The only reason the North Korea video was so general was because just getting in was an amazing thing by itself. Go Google the countries you want to learn more about, and come to Vice when you want to learn about the human condition, i.e. what Vice's motto is.

Go Google the countries you want to learn more about, and come to Vice when you want to learn about the human condition, i.e. what Vice's motto is.
Docs on North Korea were Shit!
Sago Rath `Haha :P
I actually went to dance, to the Club De Periodistas next to the fine arts palace in Mexico city, back in 87 to 89, that was unreal awesome experience! Saludos a el "Enano" Raul Tobon de la Colonia Lazaro Cardenas, from Richard, Hi NRG Patrick Miller fan in Denver.
I think this is one of the wierdest and funniest urban tribes ever, they are so unreal. Mexico is a very wierd place full of wierd people. From the 80´s punk kids in the Subway, to the regguetoneros at dancing clubs, or narcocorridos in the north part of the cpuntry to this, i really think Mexico is sensless, wierd, freaky and exotic... fucking love living here
Thanks for the video, Vice. Not like I'm missing the awesome days of meaningful documentaries with your hosts (preferablly Shane) or anything like that.
