    Awesome awesome video and very well executed!!! I'm going to be getting this bow soon, although not a beginner archer but I like the ability for all the adjustments, bad shoulder means lower pounds for now. Subscribed and thanks for the review

      That is great. I really like this bow for what it can do, and a lot of people who have bought it after watching this video have written to me telling me how much they are loving it, so I hope that your experience will be like theirs.
      God bless ya.

      I was in the same boat with the shoulder. I went to a local archery pro shop and tried a 45 lb draw and shoulder sounded like rice crispies. So I ended up putting money down on this bow hoping I can build up my draw weight strength.

      Great video ...I have to say I'm very impressed with the video and I have learned a lot with new techniques and simple tricks that can make you that much more on point with your shot.. I like the string trick very good and helps to be very accurate with arrow rest.. explaining detail and showing what you're talking about helps me and others understand if they are beginners or getting back into it and forgot a lot like I have.. I bought this bow for my son for Christmas and was out of the game for quite some time... now that he is older he is very involved and I want to make sure I'm properly teaching him the things that he needs to know and myself ..so thank you

    Kinda reminds me buying my first Diamond Razor Edge in a big box shop. I had little clue on compound bows and their setup, so I asked them to set it up... Long story short, no one arrow lunched for testing and my first dozen xx75 been toast within a week of being back home. With no shop close by now to correct it then, I found your early tuning videos Sean and some others to learn from. Today I make my own pre-stretched strings and such. Bless you for your videos Sean!

    I’ve been bow hunting for 25 years now. My lady picked this bow for each us. I love this bow for more reasons than what was stated here, and it works very darn well. His crony numbers are bang on, but the best part is this bow makes its best speeds at around the 60 lb mark. I shoot mine at 70 lbs, but not significant gains from 60-70 lbs. It’s efficient power, and may help with arrow selections, knowing this.
    This guy is practical, and knowledgeable and gave it a fair review out of the box. I was not aware of the 350 gr arrow minimum. I’m shooting about 410 gr. Thanks.
    I’m guilty of splitting my string incorrect to install peeps, but didn’t dawn on me to find the true half/centre on my black string bows. Coloured strings are visually easy.
    The tip about the string check, centre shot was priceless to me. We both fly a lot with our bows, and have had things banged out of adjustment. This gets frustrating when I show up at an event, ready to shoot.... a quick check, saves missed shots.
    We both have the blue twig pattern bows, I use mine successfully in the field for few years. It’s not my only bow, but it is my go to bow.
    At 4 lbs w arrows, any kid, and lady can carry and hold it. When she told me the specs, I couldn’t believe a min of 7 lbs draw. And up to 70.... 15-30 inch draw, even she was in. It’s almost criminal how mesmerized the animals get when they see the colour.
    I found this , looking how to adjust the timing. I got my answer.
    Again, excellent out of the box tutorial, and set up procedures/tips.

    I'm a newbie archer and I was looking for reviews for this bow, the first one I'm gonna buy (and actually bought): I found out your review as the most complete, comprehensive and useful I could find, plus you didn't just shot it and list pro and cons, but you made a 30+ minutes of suggestions, testings, tips and so on. Instant subscribe for me, as I found out almost all your contents are of the same quality. I will surely follow your video and comment tips as soon as I get my bow. I am just getting into bow hunting, after being a gun only hunter for about 20 years. I went to Cabela's and "blindly" (after minor deliberation and suggestion from their pros) bought this exact Bow as my first ever Bow. I guess they did a good job at recommending the product, and in part I may have been lucky. I now want to go through my own evaluation of the degree to which the bow is tuned and correctly set. I wish in hindsight I would have come across this video and done a little bit more homework before I purchased, and would have been able to ask more relevant questions, although as I mentioned I think in the end I was lucky and came out OK.
    I can honestly say your videos and instruction on not only archery and bow and related products, but on hunting strategy and experience, are absolutely the best. Your STYLE is so appreciated. Your honesty, tone of voice, and real guy approach comes across clearly and reflects your vast and deep experience in a way many try to deliver with an otherwise fake and acted approach. PLEASE, keep these up, I'll try to do my part in supporting your product (yourself) as much as possible... I just ordered your book from Amazon.
    I can't get enough of your videos and have been "cramming" on knowledge and instruction.
    Thanks again!

    Amazing review and I just want to thank you for the time that you had taken to put this into great detail for beginner bow hunters. I am currently looking at purchasing this as my first bow and planning to just set up a hay bale and target out back and practice until I get good at that and just buy some deer targets and such. Do you believe there is another bow that is better in this price range or would this bow be plenty? Thanks. God Bless.

      That is great, thanks for watching. I do think this is a good bow for the price. It has a great deal of versatility so if you decide to get something different later on then you could set this bow up for just about anyone at any age. Best of luck to you. God bless ya.

    • @CBen17

      Thanks for the quick reply! Does this bow come with a release? Also could you recommend some good arrows for me just for some shooting into hay bales to get used to it and get good at my aim? Thanks. God bless you.

    • @seansoutdoors
      @seansoutdoors  6 лет назад +1

      No, it does not come with a release. As for arrows, you would need to determine the draw weight you will be using first. Then you can order arrows rated for that draw weight. For beginner's arrows, and low draw weight, you should be okay with some of the less expensive types. If you want to hunt and are shooting at a higher draw weight, then you may want something a little better. I usually just get Easton or Gold Tip arrows, and I just go onto their website and put in the specs of what I am shooting and see what comes up on their recommendations.
      Also, I'd encourage you to just get a bag target for shooting. Hay bails just don't hold up to today's compound bows. You are better off with at least a bag target and you could always put a hay bail behind it if you want or need. That's just my thoughts on it. God bless you.

    Super new to archery (Joe Rogan and Cam Hanes motivated me to get in on the sport) just bought this bow. Replaced the stabilizer with a longer and heavier one, the arrow rest to a whisker biscuit, and the sight to a single post sight. Set the poundage to 55lbs at a 28" draw length. Just working on my body mechanics and form and doing a lot of reps at the range. But overall, great little bow. Super accurate within 40 yards when my form holds up. Had a problem with peep rotation initially but I took it back to the pro shop where I bought it from (shout out to Strictly Archery in Shorewood, IL) and they took care of it for me. Just bought a 3D buck target to practice my critical shot placements and hopefully I'll get good enough to harvest my first deer with a bow this october. Great video! Keep Hammering!

    Hi Sean, what a great video! Thanks for taking the time to talk through the set up. Really appreciate it.
    My daughter,11, and I have just started archery.
    Last year I bought her a bear compound apprentice. For her draw 25in, even though its an "adjustable" bow, the draw weight comes in at around 30lb . You can adjust the draw length, from 13-27inches,, just like the diamond sb-1, but then the weight is not adjustable independently. So for 25in its 30lb. Which is alot when your starting out & 11 years old!
    I read the diamond sb-1 manual online and watched their videos, but I couldnt tell if this bow is truly indepedently adjustable for both draw length and draw weight. Would like 25in and 16lb(increasing from here both measurements gradually)
    I really like the look of your book too. I hope it is available as an ebook as I am in Australia.
    Thanks again for all you work, I have subscribed.
    Have a lovely day. God Bless.

    Fantastic review. I'm in my mid 40s and just now starting off with archery. My intent is to get to the point where I can ethically archery hunt deer out here in Virginia. (I have always hunted in my home state of Wyoming where rifles are the norm and public lands with no urban areas abound.) I bought this bow after some research and trying several out at Cabela's (prior to discovering this vid).
    Thank you, Sean, for your wonderful review! I know far more about my bow now and what I need to keep in mind as I hone my skills thanks to this video. After watching this, I feel very good about my purchase and, while it may not be my last bow (or maybe it will), I definitely feel like this will serven me well on my first archery hunt this fall.

That is the bow I purchased for my first venture into bowhunting and just practicing in general. Good bow for the price. Being older(50s) and small in stature5ft.6in., 140lbs., the bow fits me well and I love shooting it. Still much to learn...Thanks again

    Great review and tuning tips! Thanks man and may Your God bless you :-)
    I was in the process of buying my first compound bow and after some research and Your review about this Diamond Edge SB-1 I decided to buy it. I'm more than pleased with the bow, hands down great, and easy tuning. The only thing is, that bows made in the U.S.A (well, i guess almost all quality compounds are from US) use imperial units for allen scews/keys and I'm from Finland and we Europeans use metric system, so I need to get an inch-measured keys as i ordered my bow with perhaps ½" too long draw length (30"). It's allright even now, but perhaps it's too easy to start letting back the string while using the included Patriot release.
    I'm in the process of liking each video i've watched from You and they are just plain awesome advice!
    Going to the local archery club indoors shooting range today, sunday. I hope there's someone with a suitable allen key set so i can tune in my sight and shorten the draw lenght that ½".
    One question though: do You think an anchor point with my forefinger knuckle behind my earlobe and the same knuckle connected to the back of my jawbone is allright? My other anchor point is my nose tip touching the string, then i can with relaxed ease look through the peep and the included sight fits just inside the peep inned diameter.

    • @MrSohron
      @MrSohron 6 лет назад +1

      Well, forgot to mention I'm 40y and 191cm tall, and I've shot a real compound once or twice when i was a teenager. Other than that I've only shot a toy compound which has perhaps 10-15lb draw weight :D

    • @seansoutdoors
      @seansoutdoors  6 лет назад +1

      As long as you can do that consistently, that may be an okay anchor. The only problem you may have is that your hand position will change if the strings and cables start to stretch after use, or if you have to get a new Dloop at some point and it isn't exactly the same length.

    • @MrSohron
      @MrSohron 6 лет назад

      I went to the archery club today and i shortened the draw length ½" and it feels I can do it consistently now without stretching my arms. Perhaps, if the strings stretch or I get a longer d-loop just shorten the draw length accordingly. I guess the peep and sight needs to be adjusted accordingly then also, right? I'll try to keep this form and adjust the bow/sights if needed because this feels solid for me.
      By the way, the archery club teacher was happily surprised that i had my bow adjusted to 45lb and not above (the max poundage for our club targets is 60lb) because usually people he knew start with too heavy poundage and wrestle with their compound, shooting a few shots and then get exhausted and go home :D Well, I had fun at the range and had no trouble with the draw for about an hour of shooting! :-)
      Thank You for advice on your videos and for answering my question. A great sport this archery is! :D

    • @seansoutdoors
      @seansoutdoors  6 лет назад +1

      Sounds good. It is definitely possible that there will need to be adjustments if the strings and cables stretch. God bless.

    Hi Sean. Looked for this video per your suggestion. Just a few comments: papertuning the bow with a Hostage rest is pretty much a futile effort. In my experience working at several pro shops, very rarely would a Hostage rest allow clean enough arrow flight to lend itself to a good hole through paper. This bow is also a binary cam bow, but I prefer dual cam bows with static yokes that allow for fine tuning centerflight. I've owned the Bowtech Guardian and 82nd Airborne, where I had to change cam spacers in order to get good, if not perfect, centerflight. As for checking centerflight, I have the original laser that mounts to the sight holes. Cables stops will allow you to overdraw the bow at lower poundages. When I set up a person's bow, I make sure the drawlength is perfect; the release is installed correctly on his/her wrist; and I teach him/her to stop pulling hard when they feel the bow's draw weight let off. I currently own 2 Destroyer 350s and an Infinite Edge Pro. I actually have fun with my IE Pro when I take it to the range and somebody comes up to me and starts making fun of me shooting a "kid's bow," and he's shooting a $1400 latest and greatest carbon bow. That's when I shut him up by dropping arrows into the 10-ring repeatedly with my tuned "kid's bow" with new string & cables that I built. LOL

    Hey Sean, thanks for all your great videos!
    This video pretty much sold me on the SB-1 as my first bow, which I went and purchased today! I’m a 42 year old brand new shooter and this bow is fantastic! After the pro shop helped me dial it in, I was hitting yellow quite consistently after about 15 arrows. I’m at the high end of this bow for draw length, right at 30” and it fits and feels perfect. Even at a 30” draw I’ve got the draw weight down to 44 lbs with 3 or 4 notches left in adjustment space.
    I’m extremely happy! Thank you for this great review. It was a huge help, as have all your other vids I’ve watched!
    Keep up the good work!

    Hello Sean! I bought this exact compound bow today and I wanted to say thank you for the video(s). I had a slight setup for my build, arrow length, drawback weight and probably a few more things I can't remember. I hope I am not bothering by asking but the gentleman who owns the shop has tons of experience and is a bit stoic to talk to. How can i bring up points and questions to the owner and any other repairman/woman without stepping on their toes? I am a beginner jumping into 12 feet it feels like but would me bringing up these points from your videos be rude to ask any repairman? I don't want to challenge to their knowledge, experience and craftsmanship but you bring up good points. All the best!

    • @seansoutdoors
      @seansoutdoors  7 лет назад

      I guess it is all up to you. I have found that people in archery, and maybe people in general, have ideas in their mind that they think are the absolute right way, the only way, the best way, or whatever, and so anything that might confront that is rejected or viewed negatively. As such, I am not sure how far you will get with someone if I brought up something that he or she might not agree with. I guess if you asked a question with genuine guile, then you might be able to get some feedback, but if it opposes what they think then you may not get accurate feedback in a certain sense. That person could think he or she is giving you good feedback, when in fact they may not be. At the same time, I won't claim to know exactly what I am talking about. I am not God, so that means I am not perfect, and there is always a chance I could be wrong about things. All I can say is that I try my best to be straight forward, and to provide reliable information, but there is always a chance I am the one making a mistake and not someone else. Essentially, I don't want to seem like a know-it-all, because I know I am just a normal person who is capable of making a mistake. As someone new to Archery, or at least to this new bow you have, just try to use your common sense as much as possible and don't just take people's words as authority. Rather, take them with a grain of salt and strive to test their words and suggestions and see if they hold true. If they don't, dismiss them. If they do, then maybe they are worth trusting for that topic. God bless and Good luck out there!

    I'm very glade I come across your video... My buddy was talking me to get this bow as a starter for bow hunting which I am very new at... I've shot recurve in 7th&8th grade playing around... He said get the diamond infinite edge you use and tune it so your boys can practice jump back and forth...
    What is your opinion on constantly adjusting between 2 settings???

    • @seansoutdoors
      @seansoutdoors  7 лет назад

      It is a great bow for being able to use now and pass on to your children, but you wouldn't want to constantly be switching back and forth between two people now. You will have a huge headache with tuning and consistency. Every minute details impacts arrow flight ,and if you are close, but not precise in moving things, then the arrows will hit differently and you will drive yourself crazy not being able to shoot well. So, keep in mind that although it is a great bow and one that can be adjusted to fit a LARGE range of people, it should only be set up for one person at a time. For instance, set up for you now, and when you are ready to get a different bow, you can then set it up for your child... Hope that makes sense. God bless you.

    • @seansoutdoors
      @seansoutdoors  7 лет назад

      The axle to axle is fairly short on this bow, which would make it a little difficult to shoot with fingers due to finger pinch. I would say that if you want to shoot it with fingers, you can, but I would probably suggest gripping it with three fingers under the arrow because I find that it produces less finger pinch that way. God's blessings to you!

    Hey Sean, at 14:58 you mentioned tying the string "dead center of limb bolts". I noticed today the cams on SB-1 are not centered in the limbs, they are offset by about 0.25" to the left, so the bow string is also offset to the left by about the same. From what I understand the bowstring travels in the same plane as the cams, so it's probably best to align the arrow rest in the same plane as the bow-string and cams. The front string from top limb-bolt to bottom limb-bolt you taped-on is not in that plane. Let me know what you think...

    My first compound bow. I will say this. Use blue loctite on the draw stop plates. I had the screws work loose and actually lost one. Periodically check all the screws. I didn’t care for the stock rest and swapped it for a Ripcord Max micro. Other than that I love it!

    Hello Sean. I like your videos very much. I have the same type bow. You will notice that in this bow the cams are not in the middle but a little side. So when i am tuning my bow with your string technique wil the arrow be in the middle or little on the side. I think it makes a little sense that if the cams are on the side the bow string will also be little on the side of the limbs in alignment with the cams right. So the conclusion is that in this bow the arrow must not be in the middle of the bow. Please correct me if im wrong. 👍

    I purchased this bow yesterday and my cam's are not in the centre they are off to one side. If I were to tape a string to the centre of the limb bolt it would not line up with the string like you set yours in the video. Am I missing something or are my cam's set up wrong? Great video!!

    Hey Sean, love the videos. I'm a middle aged man, I'm a fair sized guy and my draw length, by just measuring your way. I'm at about 29, 29.5 draw length. Been rifle hunting for a while, but wanna get into bow hunting. Would this be the right bow for me, or are there better bows out there for a beginner. The salesman at Cabelas's says this is the best beginners bow out there, but, would like more opinions. I can afford a more expensive bow, but I like the idea of it being somewhat adjustable. Would like to start at maybe a 50lb draw, and get my form down and then move up. Any good suggestions would be helpful. Thanks, and God Bless.

    Do you have any experience with Ek Archery bows? I'm tempted to get their Rex bow which looks like pretty good value for a starter bow at about half the cost (which leaves a lot more money in the budget for things like arrows, cases and foam targets). Thanks for the videos, they've been really enlightening so far.

    Sean, great videos. I have a question for you on the center rest. I got the sb-1. In your video you tape the string from center to center and rest was sitting to the right. I noticed on mine the cams sit to right, they are not centered. Should that rest be centered with the cams or the center of the bow?

    Hi sean thanks for such as quick reply onmy last comment. Great video here! I bought the SB-1 from CBA in the UK and it was supposed to have been set up for me. However after watching your video I can see that my arrow rest was WAY out of alignment! Then I noticed that the fletchings on the arrow are not for this bow and don't fit between the brushes on the arrow rest. Can arrows be adjusted? ( i tried turning by hand but they seem very tight and I don't want to break them.) thanks again.

      They are aluminium arrows. Can you normally turn the nocks on these? I found your tuning videos very helpful. Thanks again

    I really appreciate your helpful video. I noticed that while aligning your rest with a string, you taped it at the center of the limb bolts on each side... however I did notice that the cams, and therefore the bow string, is mounted offset from the limb bolts. Shouldn't you adjust the tuning for this difference?

    • @seansoutdoors
      @seansoutdoors  7 лет назад

      No. While the string is not the center of the entire cam itself because there are cables also attached to each cam, the string is still in the center of the bow itself. If you look carefully, there are different width spacers on either side of the cam to help keep the string centered in the bow. The spacer is the small (usually black) plastic piece that the axle goes through and is between the cam and the limb. Good luck and God bless.

    • @danielgambino7823
      @danielgambino7823 7 лет назад

      Sean, thank you for the quick reply. I'm reading and re-reading your response while trying to understand the technical aspects of it. I do see the spacers and how that has off-set the cams compared to the frame. In short, I trust your expertise. In this step, do you also attempt to align your pins with the bow string and taped string as well? Thanks my new-found friend and God Bless you.

    • @seansoutdoors

      You can start them there, but they will often have to be moved right or left depending on how you aim. My sights are not in line with the string.

    I have this bow and just recently got it retuned for my now adult body. I guess I never noticed that my quiver bracket was never mounted to the bow itself and it didn’t appear to come with the bolts/screws for the bracket mount. I have the exact same quiver that came with the bow and was wondering if you could point me in the direction of where I can order/buy some bolts/screws to be able to mount the quiver. I’ve looked for roughly two hours online and wasn’t successful. I know this video is old and I’m not really expecting a response but if you stumble across this comment and are able to help it’d be very much appreciated! Thank you sir, God Bless!

      @seansoutdoors  Год назад

      It will be the same thread pattern that holds the site onto the bow. You can take one of the bolts from the site out and go to a hardware store to match them and buy some bolts for the quiver mount.

    Hello Sean, I am new to archery and had to subscribe as soon as I found your videos! I find them very useful and informative. I Maybe you can help me decide. I am looking to buy my first bow, something I can start off with but also good enough to hunt with. I shot a cabela's Influence this past weekend and loved it, however I started my research and came across this Diamond edge SB-1 and like the reviews also. How would you compre these two? Any recommendations? My draw length is 26". Thanks you and God bless!

      I have not tried the Cabela's bow, but I really think this SB-1 is a great all around bow. I think it is something you can grow with and also hunt with. God bless you.

    When adjusting the center shot with your string method, did you notice that the cams are not in the center of the limbs? They are offset to one side quite a bit. I did your string method with mine but instead of going down the center of the limb bolts, I ran the string to the cams and adjusted that way. It was off a lot. I'm not sure if my method is good or not, but those cams are probably close to a 1/4" off center of the limbs, more at the edge of the limb bolts. Also, my rest was way too low. Looking at the berger hole it was right, but my arrow vanes were hitting the shelf of the rest. Every one of my arrows has a black mark on one vane, and you can see the stripe it was leaving on the shelf. I adjusted my rest up, but now it's half way up the berger hole, so it's too high if you use that method to check it. I slipped my D loop up accordingly. I don't know if what I've done is right or not. It shoots OK but I'm a total noob and thinking about having my local archery shop set it up once you're allowed to be around people again. Just wondered your thoughts. Thanks Sean.

      Use the measure off the riser method. Measure to the arrow at the back of the riser and then at the front. I tried to explain in the description section that the string method didn't work right. As a result, I recorded a new video for this bow. Here is the link ruclips.net/video/bLJqrqW98p8/видео.html

    Hey Sean, love this video and your channel has been a wealth of knowledge. Now, I've bought the SB-1 and the retailer sort of set it up for me but I'm not so confident in what he did. My peep sight keeps spinning on me and its frustrating. In addition i noticed that the two lines on each cam that show where the crossing strings (please forgive my lack of terminology) are not quite dead center on that. I swore i saw you show something about that in one of the videos but couldn't find it again. How can i adjust the limbs or etc to make them perfect or as close as possible to it? Also how can i fix the peep sight because its driving me nuts. Subscribed and follow your channel regularly. God bless brother.

    • @tufelhunden7136
      @tufelhunden7136 7 лет назад

      By perfect i mean having my string centered in between the lines on the top cam and bottom cam, not how i can adjust my limbs to be perfect hahahah

      That will require adding or removing twist to the cables. Good luck and God bless.
