Great review. Maybe it will find its way to Europe, we are lacking this kind of cars for large families and MPVs have basically disappeared. This would be a worthwhile addition.
there aren’t any solid plans. but generally in Europe for the longest time 3 rows are dominated by premium brands Merc GLS, BMW X7. have to admit I’m a bit rusty on everything that’s currently on the market in Europe. 3 row reasonable priced cars?
Seems like this brand has come a long way, C11 was infamous for campfires a few years ago. I was going to get a Xpeng G6 but now I'll have to go check out the C16, nice review, careful with that Moutai. Greetings from Zhuhai !
You point out it has a "360° degree camera . Does that mean you have not only a reversing camera, but can see in FRONT for parking? That's what so many cars need! My dream car!
Can you please expand on what you said at min 8:39 that "if you do run out of electrical charge you are stuck at approx. 25 km/h" ? My understanding of the EREV version was that the c16 offers 200 km of electric range and 895 km of additional range using the 1.5L engine for longer trips
It does, but if you have 0% electricity then you get stuck on a low power mode. You can't drain to zero electricity then continue for 800km. Combined range is combined, running in hybrid mode. "petrol priority mode" is not 100% petrol only
@@ChinaDriven I think you may need to check the settings. i brought a c11 to Africa and it was amazing. it was an EREV and we had to stop charging it on purpose to test out the extender. but when on extender we got up to 140kph on the motorway - not 25kph! unfortunately the C11 we got does not have a native English menu... so will only work with manufacturers that do.. i was surprised that they didn't have a language setting option. but I guess leap will add that for its European cars.
It IS really well styled, and the colour suits it! Lets hope it actually has some suspension , though. THAT'S usually an afterthought with oriental cars (with the exception of KIA)
It’s just big and soft. body roll. if it came to Europe I reckon they would stiffen it up a bit. but it’s a 5m long 3 row SUV so as long as it’s comfortable that’s all it needs to be.
The C16's design is modern and will not intimidate an average car buyer new to EVs. It is quite easy on the eye. For less than $26 grand, it is quite a car with NOA which less than a handful of cars have. I agree for its price the build seems pretty good, it's when you begin to compare it with something like a Chevy Bolt, Nissan Leaf, or an VW ID4 you begin to appreciate the car for what it is. Again the Chinese OEMs are taking battery tech ahead with LFP packs charging as fast, in some instances faster (Zeekr), as an NMC pack. 10-80% in 14 minutes is a remarkable stat to achieve. Would you say the steering is as light or even lighter than a Wuling Air EV? Some of the Wuling products are rebadged as MGs in India and drove the MG ZS EV which is sold in the UK as well. I found the steering to be vague, and devoid of any feedback. Is it a common characteristic of the more affordable EVs? If it's going to Europe, it will need a dual-motor setup especially for snowy regions as you mentioned. I'm sure Norway will be one of the primary markets it will target, and why would anyone buy a car without AWD.
the steering is not just vague or without feeling. that’s pretty normal nowadays. the steering is light.i feel I could almost blow in the steering wheel to turn it hahaha. a bit of an exaggeration but you get the point lol. yes LFP is becoming more and more impressive compared to where it started. no solid info if this would ever make it to Europe. but I think this full size market is underrepresented at this price point. and unlike many 6 seat SUVs like this in China it’s sub 5 meters and a little narrower. making it more suited to the tighter roads in Europe. but I agree. AWD would have to at least be available
Looks like a budget Li L9 alternative, given it's dimensions. I like these EVs with range extenders since BMW i3 times, and it's nice that China keeps pushing them forward!
@ChinaDriven that's an awesome thing, i'd add tbf, here in Russia, almost everyone is keen on getting L6-L9 sm that importers also started to hoard on it, and when they realize C16s existence, I think it'll instantly become a hit given that the final price after all fees won't be more than 40k$
Does this one have one-pedal-drive? The LFP battery is great (because you can charge to 100% on a daily base). More Chinese 6-7 sitter EV should come to Europe, right now there are only the outdated BYD Tang and the very expensive Nio EL8 here in Europe. We need more Kia EV9, e-5008 competitors in Europe.
@@damianotoole8770 nope. You’ll have to live without that feature. It’s one of the things you’ll find in the more expensive 3row 6seaters. But somethings have to be cut back to get this package at this price.
There are two versions. A "Pure EV" or BEV (Battery electric vehicle) and an Extended Range EV (a type of hybrid) Both technically EVs, since an electric vehicle actually refers to the propulsion method, using electric motors to drive the wheels. So EREVs are technically EVs. But because there is confusion over EV, BEV, EREV, Hybrids etc etc I divided this by EREV & "Pure EV" If you want more clarification about the differences between EREV and other hybrids I'd be happy to write more.
crazy good value even for us poor people in my third world country! we have to pay at least double for something smaller in all dimensions while being an ICE vehicle with dumb infotainment system.
@@ChinaDriven Philippines. We kinda have BYD dealerships here but we have to pay twice as much as Chinese people. Imported vehicles even cost much more. an imported BYD Seagull cost as much as BYD Dolphin that came from BYD dealerships. While this problem is pretty much same for neighboring countries like Thailand, malaysia, or Indonesia but we are less wealthy country.😩😩😫😫
@@zodiacfml It's no different in the UK. A BYD Yuan Plus starts over 37,000GBP...which is about 344K RMB. In China the Yuan plus costs between 120-163K rmb...
@@ChinaDriven right but we are not as wealthy as UK or European people.😩 How i wish mainstream media propaganda was right with China overproduction of EVs.😩
Haha. yeah you got me but I just mentioned it as tidbit in the intro. Didn’t see much point referencing a domestic Eav that might be somewhat obscure. But this is still cheaper then the 1st gen Nissan leaf in China. even though it wasn’t called the Nissan leaf, it was called the Venucia e30 www.greencarcongress.com/2014/09/20140910-venucia.html so shows how cheap EVs have gotten here over the past decade!
Another solid review. Good to hear some negatives being called out - only to confirm you don't just shill for the manufacturers! Great channel. 👍
