My first ever - strictly speaking haha - Melodic House and Techno DJ Set. Before I jump in though I'll give you some tips to exploring new genres and crafting playlists!
1. I find Beatport is a great place to find and research and even download / stream new music
2. When crafting playlists be flexible in your approach - first attempt should be considered a rough draft
3. What's your goals for the set (the ramp / the wave)
4. Get super strong foundations (check out links to my courses below)
5. Do you use standard EQ or Isolator settings
6. How do you keep things interesting

Question for you, saw you were using some cue points on tracks, with melodic are you setting cue points 24 bars instead of 16? Or? Thanks and love the channel!

@@kaynaktolga_ I was able to buy them all on apple music. For some reason with this type of Dance music they have their shit together... Try find decent Techno or Acid on there though... no chance x

I can definitely understand how many people can find melodic house and techno boring, but to me, they are the most interesting. They allow themselves to beat let your mind wander and completely disconnect. It does take an experienced taste, though. I’ve never met someone who is new to electronic music be interested in techno, melodic house, or classic prog.
Did the club ready course, and some extra advanced one-on-one's with Andrew a few years back. This dude is as energetic and passionate as he comes across on camera. Love to see he is getting the success and praise he deserves. Good on ya Andrew!
ALSO: I felt I should add that if anyone is unsure about jumping onboard with Andrew , my advice is to DO IT. Andrew & his course are of the highest quality, and his teaching style instills the same passion that he displays on camera. I was so enraptured with DJing & music after the club ready course that I actually went and got a diploma in music production! Cannot recommend Andrew & his course enough.

Crafting a play list takes time and planning, get a bit familiar, thinking of the event helps create a flow of energy and vibe.

I think the reason I like playing melodic stuff is because I can get into the vibe when I'm just practicing. When I'm at a club with 300+ people and probably 100 of them rolling, house is the best thing in the world. But when I'm just trying to practice, sometimes those repetitive house hooks that set the club on fire just seem annoying. Maybe I could start a halfway house where I let people do drugs in my living room but they have to listen to me DJ. Then I could make a better house set!
I mean, seriously, though ... everybody loves house, and I've had people tell me my sets are "old school" like I'm not playing what kids like these days. The best raves I've been to in the past 6 months have been Claptone, Carl Craig, Seth Troxler, and Cosmic Gate ... and I guess Cosmic Gate was the craziest scene I've ever been to (and it was a Thursday), but that was full of 40+ year olds that were partying like their life depended on it ... but in general it's the house raves that are the best time. I just can't put together a house set that I really like the feel of because I can't get into it at home in my living room.
It takes time!! You have to be patience! Feel the flow of your track selection! Feel the movement of the music!! Once you do this you will be just fine! Don't give up!!

i could never really vibe with mainstream/very normal club music. i always loved the slower genres, and for me, prog, afro, MH&T, all just resonate with me, even on the darker ends of those genres. it's an absolute vibe, and i love that about it. sure, not everyone will like it, but if you give it a chance, it can surprise you.
Strange thing, my aspiration was to become a techno DJ and now I got hooked on that house shizzle, haha lol.

I love melodic house and techno but it takes more of an emotional investment from the crowd and a level of sophistication.
It is great for a break in energy during the night when the crowd has reached the "zone" and the energy can be taken in any direction from it.
That's a really good point - quite often Deep, Progressive Dance Music is best received by actual House & Techno fans & other DJ'S, at least moreso than a random person on the street.
Interesting that you find it useful for "Peak Time" - I agree, upon reflection, despite in the past using the more mellow, melodic material at the start & end of my sets with Hard House & driving TechHouse accented with Electro Pop & Mainstage tracks forming the body of the "peak energy" part of my sets.
Could you please elaborate more on what the "zone" is?

Loved the vibe of your set! Really amazing and fluid. I need kind of 2 hours to get into the mood to start getting into harder techno haha, I love progression too. My way of playing is always going up on BPMs and depends for who im playing.
I’m October I had an accident at work that made me and I forgot how to do a few thing but with the power of your channel and multiple others I relearned how to dj just in time for my first ever New Years gig and now I’m learning so much so thank you for helping me bring back what I love so much and making me be able to re chase my dream

Sometimes I really struggle to define between this genre and Progressive House. Great set.

progressive house uses chord progressions with a resolution, melodic trance generally sticks to 1 or 2 chords

Nicely played Andrew. Like very much to do loops on the go, without hotcues. Sometimes is amazing the incredible grooves you can get from various melodies looping. But I never get to do it exactly the same again. Pure One -Off. Best regards from the frosted Europe.
