Nice to see you working on a Tascam deck. The video was very well done, as usual, super sharp footage and narration. I thank-you for the recommendation for the Seiko SAT 100, I have one on order now. I have also sent an email to purchase your Calibration Tape. I've yet to prepare your KFC recipe, but I'm sure looking forward to trying it out, their chicken just a'int the same anymore!
I've got one of these decks. Really cool machine. Replaced belt years ago but didn't replace the rubber tires and had issues. Need to get back into it and do that. Those transports were made exceptionally well. Biggest flywheel i;ve seen on a cassette machine. Only thing to know about these machines, is for whatever reason, they do not have any selector for cr02 or metal tapes. It will record well on them, but uncertain the frequencies are correct.
One thing is for sure: That guitarist is a big fan of Satch (Joe Satriani.) It's actually a great take on his flow. Nice fix, Dave! Remember the Satch Sony commercials circa 1992?
Yes Joe is a fairly good player. Go check out Frank gambale walking the wonbat off the live bootlegs. Unbelievable playing. I still can't wrap my head around how he does is. Rapid fire to the extreme. They call him the yhubdee down under. Was in the chick corea electric band for years and return to forever 2.
@@12voltvids I am very familiar with his name and likeness, and know his flow well but I am not familiar with the work you mentioned. I will check it on out!
@@MrChrisRP check that track, it's good. How he stained that one note that rang on for about a minute while the rhythm section played through. The track runs about 12 minutes.
Had a question about the deck. I have the same 133 over here in the UK. I have got it running nice and smooth again. Love the thing. I did notice that resistor r494 (grey one on the top board) gets quite hot. 3 seconds and its 'ouch' kinda hot. Do you recall if yours got quite warm too? Its a raised mount and i presume its kept elevated off the board because it needs airflow, but wondered if they are supposed to get that warm? All the other components fairly average temperature. cheers.
I presume you remember, or heard of an 8 track tape cartridge? The compact audio cassette is essentially a 4 track tape cassette. On a computer you can combine stereo 2 channel into mono 1 channel in audio editing software,so each sound channel has different music tracks playing. In a normal "run of the mill" stereo cassette player, it would sound a mess, but in a cassette player where you can just listen on a left or right sound channel independently, so it's possible to get 4 track mono = 180 minutes of music, on a 90 minute stereo cassette tape.
I am fully aware of 8 track and 4 track, 2 track stereo. Used to do this on my old reel to reel back in the late 60s recording music from AM radio of the day, get 4x the recording time. Why anyone would intentionally mono a stereo sound (you don't need a computer for that just a simple "Y" cable to combine L and R into mono) unless you are stone deaf in 1 ear. (sorry Jim if you are reading this) because stereo sound is so much better for all of us with 2 functioning ears, the same way that stereo vision for those with 2 functioning eyes (sorry Bill if i struck a nerve, that's what you get for playing with lasers and microwaves) moral of this story is dont be an idiot with lasers and don't look into microwave waveguides no matter how low the power. Cooking an eyeball is not fun. I will add a warning to everyone with fiber optics at home. Do NOT unplug the fiber from your ont and look into the end of the fiber. There is a powerful infrared laser at the other end. You can not see it and that is what makes it dangerous. there is no blink response like you would get if say you tried to look at the sun. You will not notice anything for a few weeks and then the spot where you burned your retna becomes aparant.
I have one of those. The motors are tough as nails. What was wrong with it? I figured you might make a video of repairing the motor, which probably can be put back in service. 😀
These's no need for a crystal oven in this thing. That is probably the erase oscillator transformer, but I don't know why is it so huge. Ones in '60s reel-to-reel decks had similar size or even smaller.
i have an intresting question for you. long ago i operated a car radio in the house with 9V AC adapter (it was actually NES power adapter) and it played for a minute or so and then something blew. What do you think blew and how did it work initially?

ahh when you were adjusting the tone, was fun listening with headphones!
Smashing, a identical replacement motor and speed set.
Yes i agree that the guitar tuner has to be very accurate.
That's a handy tool.
I imagine the owner paid a few bucks for a used motor.

Another quote from My Cousin Vinnie. Too the people who say guitar tuners are not accurate. "Are you on drugs?"

I've heard about people that pay for fake views to increase their view numbers and I also know that RUclips scans for fake views and removed them.
