Hello T-Bone. Another great tool for shining up hard to reach areas would be a pneumatic Needle Scaler. I have made many similar repairs to mower decks when I was at the state government equipment repair facility in which I have seen and repaired many types of mowing equipment that our agency used for right of way mowing. In past years, We had ZTR mowers that were called Turf Blazers by Howard Price that were used at the rest areas. Because of all of the concrete curbs it was very common for the mower decks to wear completely out usually on the left side of the mower deck in which I had to weld in a new heavier section of plate and when that was completed, I would usually weld in about 2-3 one inch by a quarter inch thick wear strips which helped out tremendously. I got this idea from the repairs that I used to make for the tractor mounted side sickle mower wear plates which had constant wear when being used. Like you T-Bone, I utilized many Vice Grips and the Vice Grip C Clamps, Heavy Duty C clamps and Bar Clamps. At work, I used a MillerMatic 350 using L-56 .035 or.044 copper clad Mig wire with the 75/25 shield gas and also used a CutMaster 102 plasma cutter that would easily cut 3/4 to 1 inch steel like nobody’s business. The right of way mower decks due to the severe usage were very prone to the skid shoes wearing out and I often had to take the plasma cutter and completely amputate all of the worn out skids and take 2 inch by 3/8 inch flat plate and form my own skids using a “Rosebud” instead of a cutting torch. I could write a book about all of my experiences fixing all of that stuff. Great Video As Always T-Bone.
Heck yeah!! I have an old Lincoln AC arc and a cutting torch. Great tools wouldn't want to be without them. In 1974 I won a metal sculpture contest using the same Lincoln arc welder and a cutting torch. Still have the trophy. Great tools I built a mini log cabin
@@RaleysSmallEngines In 1972 my 10th grade welding class teacher liked the strength and perfect beads of my welds he had me welding parts for his airplane wings.
There ya go. Use what what you have. Skill and knowledge will let you do things with a sharp stick and rock most people would never think of. Hats off to you. Those are still great tools !
My last ten years at work in the shop I used ear protection and a welding hood with a back mounted battery blowing fresh air in my face through Hepa pink filters so as not to breath welding fumes. Thirty years later I am still alive and can hear fairly well while most of my compatriots are no longer with us. My back and knees have decayed but so far so good.
Good job. Your welding is good buddy. I did extensive deck repair on an 05 Murray. Sold it $450. Those old decks don’t grow on trees lol. Good mower bad deck what to do ? Fix it.
Nice set Up T-Bone Plasma Cutter Miller I would Wear my welding Sleeves for MUST part except when I was,Wedding Off Road equipment And DUeing Flyx Core Welding Big Beads Stuff would Tear those Sleeves up but if your Mig Welding Or even Arc Welding do Fine. Ya I. SHCOOL the Ruke is Clean area ro ve welded one inch
Only thing I would have done differently, was to make the patch panel an inch longer and bend a 1" hem back on the outside and weld to strengthen the leading edge of discharge opening
Hey I need some help. I have a John Deere d140 with a Briggs v twin and after I ride for a little while uphill especially it starts surging then it dies and I can't get it started back. Have you ever got in a mower that does that?
Raley I hope you'll give me a suggestion for working on my pressure washer. I was removing my unloader clip it and it was tighter than a witches tit in the Klondike. Short story long it broke. But not before I got out half of the clip, I been driving it or trying to drive it out using a awl help any ideas would help. Thanks in advance.
Nice work T-Bone, turned out well. 👍 I know a guy who knows a guy who could really use some welding tips and guidance. 🤣 @bigsonslawncare Hey Mrs T-Bone 👋🙂
Awesome fix and like always make it look simple! But I'm really here for the hat and music 🎶 at the end😂✔️💪🏽
Thanks my friend, glad ya like it. I just ordered some new hats today 😆 🤣

Got that right.
That patch will probably outlast the machine. Great job as usual. Thanks for the videos.
Lol probably. That mower is in pretty rough shape, but still running good.
This video is right in line with my channel. Repair, Reuse, Recycle Re purpose. Using what is on hand.

T-Bone, you make "P.I.A." repairs look easy. Thanks for the vids as always.

Thank you. I got those at my local welding supply store, AirGas
2:55 been thinking about getting a plasma cutter any recommendations. And I never heard of a drag cup. Thanks
The Victor is what I use it's 220 volt. In my opinion it's one of the best on the market. It's very fast and clean cutting.
I need to find someone to weld my deck, it has some rust holes in it....

Since you have a plasma cutter, why did'nt you go ahead and cut out the bit of the deck with the cancer?
