The electric acoustic guitar I have has a compartment on the outside of the body for the battery as well as a tuner and tone adjusters got it at guitar center for 250$ don’t know how much these ones are going for.
When I was young, the conversion process was just clipping a pickup into the round sound hole in the body, then plugging it into the guitar amp . No drilling or cutting and easily reversed/unclipped for an acoustic melody .
This isn’t clickbait, most acoustic electrics were made electrical when they were first built, but they made an acoustic electric, but im a little retarted
The pickup doesn’t “translate vibrations into sound” it creates an electric current from the vibrations, which is carried by wires to the amp. The amp “translates” electrical signals into sound.
I dont know if they still exist, but I "inherited" my dad's FG-180, from the 70's I think, and he had a removable pickup for it. It just clipped on to the sound hole and plugged in like normal! Sounded fine, from what I remember. (My ex broke it out of anger many years ago...)

If you braid a thin, hard but flexible plastic strip ( c. 6-7 cm x 1 cm x 0.1 mm ) over and under the strings of an acoustic western guitar interchangeably right next to the bridge, it will make it sound exactly like a Caribbean steel drum band 😎 I am not sure what it will sound like with an electric guitar, but it's well worth a try 😉 Please let me know 😊
Sometimes its just easier to say "no" and walk away. Why not just mic the guita - neeeevermind. If anyone is actually interested, you can get soundhole cover electric guitar pickups that slot into your acoustic.
Mic'd anything acoustic ALWAYS sounds better. I miss those days but they're not coming back. My Wechter acoustic has a 3-way piezo/mic/magnetic pickup system but I mostly use the piezo and run it through my Roland AD10 pre-amp which has ambient features you can add-in to remove the sterile piezo bullshit. I'll add a teency bit of mic on occasion and the mag pickup is cool for slide playing.
Ok despite the "this is actually very possible" comments, can we appreciate how clean that looks with the discrete strap-button/jack and controls in the sound hole?
I did this myself on an expensive brand new Martin guitar. It was frustrating and nerve wracking because when I bought the $200 authentic martin pickup I had no idea I would still need to drill these holes. The bottom of the guitar is extremely hard wood and the brand new drill bit I had to buy would not penetrate the wood. I finally got it but chipped up the bottom of the guitar. Otherwise it all works. Also, another pain in the ass is changing the battery later. Its a 9V battery and lasts for awhile but ya annoying. Kind of regret not just getting a clip on pickup.
