Ahh the summer of 2008. I was 16 and I had finished all my exams, so I had all the time in the world to waste away enjoying this fantastic dungeon and the Sunwell Plateau raid (which is STILL my personal favourite in the entire game). Running Magisters' Terrace in the evenings while the sun was going down outside... They are moments I will never forget. It is scary to think that this content was released almost 7 years ago now... My how the time flies. The raid, the dungeon, and the entire island were a beautiful send-off to the first and (probably) best expansion WoW ever had...
"Don't look so smug! I know what you're thinking, but Tempest Keep was merely a setback! Did you really think I would trust the future to a blind, half Night-Elf mongrel?"
+Videogamer3692 Not really to be honest MoP, WoD and Legion cinematic kinda suck. And if your talking about content than everything went downfall after Wotlk.
+Gordon Liddy They still are. It's not Blizzard that's not passionate about the game; it's the player-base. For many of the pre-Wrath of the Lich King players, the game died when we killed the Lich King. Everything afterwards hasn't felt like Warcraft (at least personally), and that's what I think is causing the detachment from the game.
+Embertaph I felt that way after wrath in a way but what was brought to the game afterwards made it dull and boring. Seems like once you worked hard for stuff on the game and how they dumbed it down so much made it not worth my time anymore.
gotta love how its a more grandiose version of the Silvermoon theme, its like a musical representation of Kael taunting Lor'themar going "I am the REAL lord of the blood elves! Look at how much more awesome my music is!!!"
For some reason this soundtrack makes me incredibly sad. When I hear it I can only think of the beauty of Silvermoon City and Eversong Woods, only to be twisted as Kael goes mad and Kil'Jaeden comes closer...I can see the glory of the blood elves, only as their homeland is destroyed, their races almost exterminated, and then their prince that they loved and trusted more than anyone betrays them. It alternates between soothing and beautiful to twisted and dark.
Everything about this track sums up Blood Elves perfectly. The nostalgia hit is all too real on this track. Those short, sweet months of 2.4-3.0 are times I look back on fondly
At that point Kael wanted vengeance against his people because most of his soldiers betrayed him, then the Burning Legion contacted him promising power and infinite sources of magic to feast on, and in his blind rage and addiction, he accepted the gift
I remember listening to something about how they wrote this song. They took some serious care in conveying the spirit of what was going on with the Sunfury and Kil'Jaeden, and how the beauty of the terrace hid actual demons just beneath the surface.
Kael'thas was betrayed by his own people. I would have protected his grace until the bitter end, as would any true Blood Knight and child of Silvermoon. Had I been given the choice, I would gladly fight against the Alliance and Horde in the name of King Kael'Thas. Tal anu'men no Sin'dorei!
To save his people. He led them to safety after the Sunwell's destruction by Arthas. He led them to salvation once again after the Alliance's betrayal. Kael'Thas did what had to be done so save the Blood Elves.
Matthew Hinkel i blame the pathetic childish race of men. by they betrayal to respect the blood elves they made kael'thas go thro the demon portal! and arthas is my favorite figure because he destoryed lordearon
+Matthew Hinkel Sadly Kael'thas changed too much. Desperation and fear for his people drove him mad. He was a noble ruller but in the end he lost his way. He sided with the Burning legion and as you know the legion is responsible for the slaughtering of his people in the first place. Basicly he allied himself with the butchers of his race. The blood elves didn't betray him. He betrayed them first. The blood elves may call him a traitor but also he is loved by them. The things he has done for them while he was still their beloved prince will never be forgotten. They even keep the statues of him in Silvermoon.
Yes, brother of the sun! Kael'thas is truly a hero and not a villian. We would protect his chambers till the bitter end and when our comrades had fallen we would simply glare at the bold adventurers and scream, "Tal anu'men no Sin'dorei! Bash'a no falor talah!" Truly an honorable death for those who serve under the wise King of Silvermoon.
Oh Kael'thas. You will never be forgotten and always missed. The music of Magister's Terrace and Sunwell Plateau is incomporable. So beautiful. And Ulduar is a lightweight compared to SP, whoever doesnt think that obviously has never raided there.
Magister's Terrace remains my favourite 5-man to this day. Especially because of the song from 1:24 onwards. Seeing the cutscene with the hint of upcoming battle with Kil'Jaeden is one of the most vivid memories I have of TBC. I sure as hell didn't kill him when he was relevant though. Best a group on my old server would do in Sunwell was farm trash.
man that patch with the isle n this dungeonfkn love it as a proud alliance player i have to asy i freakin love the bloodelf music n design of buildings n stuff
Kael 'thas in TK was one of the BEST ever designed fights... original... unique... everyone was looking at him going up glowing on arcane energy.. ventrilo was quiet... only when he'd come back down everyone would react. One of the best feeling fights ever.
Except the Nightmare Lord was defeated in the book Stormrage and if we went back in time to fight Azshara then the entire time way would be screwed up. Nozdormu would never allow that. As for MoP: I honestly find it to be the best written and interesting expansion Blizzard has done so far. That's coming from an early Vanilla player too, mind you. I think you're just hating because you think anything with a Panda on it must be childish. You're oblivious to the expansion as a whole.
That heroic dungeon was the best thing Blizzard ever designed. We went in there, full group of raid-geared guildies, and got our asses completely handed to us. It felt so nice to have a Heroic that was hard even for experienced raiders.
Agreed. This one is possibly the funnest dungeon for me despite the number of times I've died there...or maybe because of. It actually takes a bit of thought, strategizing and planning to do it right even with an epic tank, epic healer, and great damage dealers. You have to actually use crowd control in several situations, great practice.
I came in during wrath and I've enjoyed every minute of content I've played, regardless of which expansion it came from. None of them were perfect. They all had something to offer. If you want a perfect expansion every time, prepare to be let down every time.
R.I.P Kael Our only TRUE example of the fate of those who attempt to summon the supreme master of the burning legion in Sargeras' absence in through a dangerous fount of arcane power. You will be missed.

It all depended on the tank and their ability to quickly mark targets. Also, it was on your group to actually not AoE like mad or the tank could not keep aggro on all targets, since he had to go fetch the ranged ones. It was a dramatic shift from what most people were used to, which led to confusion for some months.
Ulduar was definitely had a bit of challenge especially towards the end with General, Yog'Saron, and Algalon. I never did Plateau back in the day but I've heard many things.
@Botro1 Actully, reason for the Legion to love Azeroth so much is cuz of Well of Eternity. It ain't "reclaim" because the world was never owned by the Legion. Their goal is to destory the resistance of the world, turn them into demons, and claim the Well. And you're right about Deathwing.
@Collected23 I believe he's talking about the Feenix server. It's great in my opinion, but I've heard alot of players have been kicked out/banned for no reason at all.
Well think about people who start using drugs. Many of those people may say at first "I'll never ever use drugs, it's stupid" but once they get the hang of it, they're hooked and want more. This is what happened to Kael. Fel energies gave him some magic, but he wanted more. In addition he became addicted to power, and shortcut to that power was to ally with Burning legion (Which Kael probably no longer considered that bad thanks to those fel energies).
If you are listening in 2022, just remember those times. Ah, the nostalgia!

I couldn't agree more with you, five years later.
I expirienced my wow best moments quite recently, and it brings a tear to my eye reading these nostalgia comments.

My fondest memory of this place: I got the White Hawkstrider on my birthday.
Vath121 aw thats nice
Vath121 same in my first farm for Keal to get the toy but it gives me the mount and the toy at the same time xD
How many small animals did you have to sacrifice to get the luck for the Hawkstrider? I gave up around 90.

maybe we can see a "alternative" Kael´Thas in legion.
If we do see KaelThas again, he will be the real one who belonged to our timeline.
I miss the Kael'thas from W3 😢
Sunwell patch was the best patch in WoW history, and this music the most epic one too.
True that, they could not top it, and only went downwards from that. If they only expanded latet on belf lore, aesthetic, content. Its truely magical.

Ah Sunwell. Only in the dreaded halls of Naxxramas could one find an equal challenge. Such a hard raid. Such memories, and such amazing music.
An amazing raid, mechanically (for the time) and aesthetically, the tunes just sew the fine tapestry together into a masterpiece.
