I’m hoping to go to Doshisha for Study abroad as well! (been trying for the past two years rip) through the KCJS American university consortium. Crossing my fingers for next semester, my last semester
I went to Doshisha for college. Actually we started a reunion group in Washington DC (an official one) and we occasionally have meetups. I haven't been back for about 20 years, though. I like your Kansai accent. I am trying to brush up on mine. Cheers.
英語喉・カズの英語教室・Kaz's Eigonodo class Hi! My daughter is a HS junior and Doshisha is one of the universities she is considering attending. We are going to Japan this summer to check them out in person, so I’ve been scouring RUclips for information. We’ve been to Japan many times (lived there for 4 years when she was young) and she passed JLPT1 this year-this is some of the reason she wants to study in Japan, not the US. So difficult to get good info about college experience there -especially a 4 year program.
You speak Japanese so well. I just wanna ask have you taken the unified examination of studying abroad for foreigners?I'm studying in Australia now and I would like to exchange to Doshisha University next year.
Das deprimiert mich gerade ein bisschen dass mein Japanisch so schlecht ist obwohl ich seit 2010 dabei bin... aaaanyways let's switch back to English: I also want to apply for a scholarship between my uni and doshisha, since I got accepted to economics (I have already studied french and spanisch for 3 years, but let's be real, I need something more "substantial" to go with my worthless b.a. degree lol) How are the economics classes structured at doshisha? Do they focus on japanese economics r international? Vielen Dank im Voraus für deine Hilfe!
Viel Glück mit dein Japanisch!! I also added economics to my degree for that same reason and actually have really come to enjoy it now though! Unfortunately they don't allow exchange students (nichibun centre) to study the main economics units (in English). For whatever reason, they're only open to international students studying a degree for 4 years at ILA, Doshisha. :( However, if you're in Japanese level 6+ you'll be eligible to study economics with the Japanese students in Japanese - which should essentially be the same content you'd be doing back at your home university, macro/micro units etc. Some elective units probably do focus on the Japanese economy! They do have some English units for "economics", but after reading the outline, they didn't seem too great ... completely irrelevant content/topics being studied, in my opinion. Anyway, I'll link you the economics units for both the ILA and normal exchange students below: ila.doshisha.ac.jp/en/academics/business_economics.html intad.doshisha.ac.jp/en/exchange/curriculum.html (Check the link under 3.Lecture Course in Japanese/International Studies) Nein, nein!
Oh my, thank you so so much for your long and detailed answer! Seems like we are in the same boat :D I went to an info event at my university concerning the asia exchange, and they said it's actually possible to study business/economics at Doshisha as well (since they have a partnership with my university). I "just" want to stay 1-2 semesters, since it is mandatory that you spend at least 1 semester abroard (for economics). I am just afraid of all the math content, hope I can push through there :D And thank you for praising my English! It really has become my second mother tongue lol (I wish I could say the same for my other languages haha) Yeah, German grammar sucks, especially the case system, but you only made one little fault (viel Glück mit deinEM Japanisch :D). So don't worry, your German is fine!!! :) I have to apply until May for the Asia exchange, fingers crossed! And thank you so so much again!
You're very welcome (^^) Oh that's awesome then!! Hope you enjoy Doshisha - it's a great uni and the campus is beautiful! (I plan on filming a video on campus eventually! haha) Thanks! Damn should remember dative by now, always forget it 😥 Good luck! And feel free to ask any other questions you may have :)
