The hurricane, considered one of the most powerful to have hit the US, made landfall on Wednesday and has left more than 2 million people without power. Joe Biden has approved a disaster declaration, which makes federal money available to help state, tribal and local recovery efforts.

No wonder that florida is so expensive, such hurricane wouldn't leave a single local insurance company standing.
I feel sorry for the people who lost their homes
why? this is what you get when you build just a few feet above the usuall waterline in an area that is well known for having frequent hurricanes.
...my point is: no need to feel sorry for stupidity
@@TheNonplayer I was thinking the same …Wrong place to Build 🤔
And feel bad for the people that lost their lives….. homes don’t matter right now.
They're republicans so who cares
@@nano2424 it doesn’t matter who they are they are still humans we all bleed the same, breath the same , but they do not see the same it does not matter
Praying for everyone affected by hurricane Ian.
I can't imagine living somewhere for years and then in one day it's all gone. What a literally earth shattering experience.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
It is a flood plain and this is inevitable. They shouldn't be there because it's going to happen again next year and the next and....the land will be reclaimed by the ocean. It is natural. 3 hurricanes in 5 years. I
Cruised out of Port Canaveral last week. We made it on one of the last planes out, and back home. Praying for Florida and all our new friends
Praying for my fellow Floridians. What a nightmare. 😔
Yeah, me too. Am not a Floridian but I used to live in St Pete. Am a little concerned about a woman I know in Bradenton. I hope she's okay.
@@dancalvano8702 thanks. Can't get through on phone but saw news about tree snapped in half and moderate damage airport.
@@dancalvano8702 two deaths in sarasota said the herald a minute ago but bridges starting to open. No water and sewer services yet.
We know this is going to happen sooner or later. Why are people allowed to build in a flood prone area ? They are using the ocean as a garbage dump ! Should never happen !
I’m in Miami and all we had was some effects from Ian but the west coast of Florida my prayers to ya this will be a storm to remember
If everyone will remember, that would be great, but Biden said that there are probably a lot of fatalities. 😓 Fingers crossed that there aren't.
@@angelinasouren Hopefully not but i wouldn’t be surprised the damage that was caused by Ian words can’t describe i couldn’t watch the footage any longer or the aftermath hurricanes are not to be played with especially the major ones
@@johnnyfrancois9491 agreed
@@angelinasouren The worst hurricane to ever hit that side of Florida more worst then Irma in 2017
Miami is hurricane country also
Omg I hope everyone is ok what a nightmare.
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Praying for everyone
My goodness... Where do they even start? 😭
The should never have started building there in the first place ! Why are people using the ocean as their dumping grounds ? No one should ever build in flood prone areas ! NO ONE !
Don’t send prayers, they don’t work and it’s too late for that. Everything is God’s will, right? Donate or volunteer!
lets just be grateful most of these homes are the 2nd, 3rd or 4th for most of these people.
Get real. I used to live there. Been calling someone in Bradenton, can't even get through. She has no second home either, let alone a 3rd or 4th.
@@angelinasouren so sorry, we just had light sprinkles in Clearwater...must be Duke Energy that has a monopoly on the whole region....I knew better and got away from that region...you either rich or poor in dem cities....
@ Bobby brown I agree because a lot of those waterfront homes and condos are used as Airbnb’s not actual live in homes
you're completely clueless.
I feel for these people.
However, please let this be a lesson that they all need to move away from that area and NOT MOVE BACK.
The Hurricanes are just gonna be getting worse from here on out.
Moving back is sheer stupidity.
Too much inhabitation on the coastline why would anyone build a highway with a low bridge section along the beach in a hurricane zone just poor infrastructure planning from the beginning
Oh wow
I hope they’re okey.
heartbreaking :(
I sold my holiday home and boat last week :))
Looks like Durban with all the crazy weather we are having in South Africa
You live in "hurricane alley", how could you expect anything different? Sometimes you win, and sometimes you loose.
Ian wanted to return S. Florida back into the Everglades swamps.
And it should have ! No reason to build in these areas and use the ocean as their garbage dump ! Should never be allowed !
@@jerrylansbury9558 got me wondering who you believe is using the ocean as “their” dump in South Florida. Thus in agreement with me, yet adding the wish everyones homes an all got swept lol
I understand your sentiment, yet is it not a bit irresponsible in itself? /chuckle
Unfortunatly the issue of Building isnt anything new, been happening Pre-60s; Im sure itd be a complex issue to unpack.
@@Crmsnraider Anyone whom builds along a waterway....ocean is dumping their garbage in the ocean. After all....if no one had built there.......would you have the trash in the ocean ? Is it responsible to put all your belongings along the ocean front knowing Hurricanes do happen ? Then continue to do it year after year ???? Id say that is irresponsible !
Not here in Iowa......simple... if you didnt sell out to FEMA......your on your own. And you the owner would be responsible for clean up.
Interesting though...... FEMA " is " the government........but they pick and choose who they buy out ?
And it will return to swamp again. It is a flood plain.
Why does this happen in XXI'st century America? You literally KNOW this happens once every 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 years abd you still don't prepare and make high, concrete, 2 floored houses?

In a few decades, Florida coasts will be under water. What then?
People will be climate migrants.
At times there's a price to pay to live close to the beach.
Forget this one, we got another calls from Ukraine.
Rather difficult to understand these prople. 3 hurricanes in 5 years and they will rebuild again. It's senseless. They should save themselves from future annual hurricanes by moving off the flood plain. No one is supposed to live in flood plains for this very reason. Within 10 years the coastline will be quite a bit further inland. The ocean will reclaim the land. It is natural. Hope everyone is able to recover emotionally. It's a terrible terrible situation.
I hope insurance race the price and it makes the people move inland.
