  • Sean Cochran presents four of the best exercises to improve ankle mobility and calf flexibility. Sean will take you through four simple exercises requiring no equipment and which can be performed daily.
The ankles are a talocrural joint which is a synovial hinge joint allowing for a large range of motion. This joint allows for dorsiflexion (lifting the foot toward the shin), plantar flexion (pointing the foot downward), and pronation and supination of the foot.
All these movements allows us to run, walk, stand up, and are integral in sports such as golf and tennis. Unfortunately when the calf musculature is tight or the ankle is limited in terms of ranges of motion. All of these activities can become difficult and even painful. Reducing our quality of life and levels of activity.
As a result it is important to keep our ankles mobile and the calves flexible in order to enjoy our daily activities and remain pain-free.
