Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball series is well known for a lot of things. Long intense fights, an intense storyline, and of course, all of the memes. But something we often forget about is the variety of intriguing and gruesome deaths throughout the series. There are some pretty intense and brutal killings in Dragon Ball Z that really shook us as kids. But, when it comes down to it, which of these deaths are truly the most gruesome of the batch?

Death of frieza? But he didn't die, he survived long enough to be rebuilt as a cyborg and then killed by trunks.

All of cells absorption kills. They’re easily the worsts. Especially the gingertown rich man
The main characters who top this list if you wanna be realistic...are The Saiyans....and Yamcha...then maybe Tien
Piccolo doesn't really count as much because he died like one time and it was because he couldn't defeat the enemy. Practically every time he's been mortally wounded he has either had a senzu-bean or just healed because Namekians have regenerative power.

Agree with number one. If this were a list of excruciating suffering followed by death, Vegeta's demise at the hands of Freeza would surely be number one. That was brutal. Even though he's my favorite character, Vegeta definitely got what was coming to him after all the destruction he caused.
You forgot Krillin when Frieza blew him up on namek. As well as piccolo’s second death by frieza when he was shot through his heart
And gingertown man who got absorbed by cell.
But piccolo didn’t die otherwise earths dragon balls wouldn’t have worked

Frieza actually helped the z fighters in the tournament and in the end credits of dragon ball super, you can see him and the z fighters on earth being at peace meaning he does show mercy unlike buu who would have destroyed the entire universe if goku did not kill him with a spirit bomb.

Smitty's death is brutal. Heck, it is actually more gruesome than the manga version, as opposed to many other moments from the manga that were toned down a bit.

It wasn't entirely *false*, when you think about it. The afterlife in Dragonball is something that living characters can go back and forth between, albeit in rare situations.

I know you intentionally left off nameless characters, as there are simply too many to deal with, but I think an honorable mention should have gone to the Sibaman that Vegeta killed. That was, by far, one of the goreist deaths in DBZ. Seeing bits of organs and the eye completely come out was horrifying in the original dub. Definitely one that stuck with people that saw it.

You forgot Yamcha's death at the hands of Dr. Gero, which is odd since its the most cold-blooded kill in the whole show imo.
Yamcha didn't die at that time. He got a bean and was healed. It's why he was able to take Goku back home when the virus hit him a short while later. I think they were only counting the actual deaths and not just the most brutal moments. I personally was surprised at the lack of Krillin's death to Frieza or literally any victim of Cell in his Imperfect Form. Slowly drinking people into nothingness while they're conscious sounds and looked horrifying.
@@SHOGUNTE I don’t think he counted the guy who was drained by Cell because he was nameless. The guy who got killed by Super Buu I still think is the most brutal death in DBZ.

I might’ve put 16’s death higher. Unlike Dr Gero, 16 was entirely a machine, and had no soul, so his death was truly final. No afterlife, no wishes, simply gone, forever.

Saddest Anime Deaths: Sad to Heartbreaking, Ace from One Piece always kills me
Jiariya from Naruto definitely. Naruto finally has the closest thing to a parent in his life (since Jiraiya was his godfather) but he ended up dying later. Naruto had to experience a lot of people's deaths throughout the series but he took Jiarya's the hardest.
Cell's death, particularly in the "every cell has a life of its own" fix (as in the original, there was the mistake with him saying that the core in his head was needed to survive, but Goku was shown to have destroyed it before Cell regenerated earlier in the tournament) is DEFINITELY worth mentioning, as, well, all of Cell's cells are being vaporized.
Say what you want about GT, the three main antagonists deaths (Baby, Super 17, Omega Shenron) are actually terrifying.

there's a science behind the disintegration deaths. it's atomization where even your molecules and atoms are reduced to nothing. also i saw Smithy's death on Hulu looking back on it. it was pretty gruesome.

Major omission of Goku's death via Heart Virus which caused the Future of Trunks timeline.
You could've just said, that Tien died of fatigue fatality.
So what I have noticed is that all the sagas of dbz end up with someone either getting mad and getting a form or getting a form (not counting saiyan saga)

It gets so annoying how they hardly show actual violence anymore when it comes to Dragon Ball.
Most gruesome would probably be the guy that gets his head ripped off by Gero in the manga and the Cell Jr.s in the manga (god those brains and eyes). Too bad you just did Z though, there's a couple of graphic ones in the "original" Red Ribbon and Piccolo Daimao parts of the manga.
Though Pui-Pui is less of a "hole in the chest" and more of "annihilating the entire body". You can see his limbs and screaming head and stuff separating in the blast more clearly in the manga.

So not only did you forget the actual most cruelest death in Dragon Ball, but you added insult to injury by adding a death that lead the the 2nd Super Saiyan Transformation but mot the first...? Krillin's death by Frieza ringing any bells? You mention things like the person being in terror or suffering yet didn't mention the one that literally terrified us all as kids at how essentially out of the blue and super unexpected it happened?
A recap for those that want to remember the details-- everyone thought the Spirit Bomb worked; that it destroyed Frieza and the Z Fighters, Piccolo, Goku, and Krillin were celebrating for almost a solid 3 minutes excited and relieved everything was finally over-- then he announced himself, Frieza, and everyone dropped back into despair and disbelief instantly as the ultimate attack failed and no one had energy to fight. Absolutely terrified Krillin stepped back a little and Frieza targeted him, finger already pointed (remember, Frieza is cynical and desires those to suffer extreme mental anguish the most before physical) shoots a very small, high speed energy ball at/inside of Krillen that pushes him backwards at first then lifts him up highspeed in the air and as he's going up he very loudly cries for Goku, his bestfriend since childhood's name, out loud and yells "HELP MEEE--" before his chest and torso bulge intensely & seen being visibly expanded very far beyond normal and "AHHH--!!" as Frieza slowly closes his hands detonating Krillin.
He was terrified for his life beyond belief. He was targeted out of malicious intent to anger someone else. The manner in which he was ended was cruel and unusual punish made to grieve and suffer for a period of time while all of his friends watched in-person unable to do anything. Kuririn quite literally has the worst death in all of Dragon Ball when you factor in everything that occured and why it occured. Still gives me nightmares to this day and i havent watched Z (actual classic/Falconer audio Z) since 2014.

Maybe a technicality… tien had his hand amputated not lacerated.
I called top spot from a mile away. I made my own personal list and put him at the top as well.
Two you forgot were Krillin when Frieza killed him on Namek (who would go under the explosion category, probably just below Spopovich, or maybe even above given it triggers Goku's Super Saiyan transformation for the first time), and Old Kai when he gave his life to Goku (which would fit under the first section, probably just above or below Guru's second death).

I am a huge fan of the Dragon Ball series but after watching this list their Universe seems even more dangerous then I remember.
Rewatching all the series it’s better and darker than I remembered
I think it was krilin because he was aware that he he was going to die and then he ripped into a million peace’s from the inside
He forgot Frieza blowing up Krillin, and Cell and Buu eating people in the cities.
Remember back then DB, DBZ, DBGT were actually for all ages even adults and teens but now DBS feels more like it’s mostly for kids
