The only thing I don’t understand is why they refuse to give Vegeta a clean, clear cut, winning arc. Let Vegeta evolve and be the big hero #1 for once. With him pulling the full risk of loss.

One thing I appreciate is that Vegeta in this state isn't a completely old person nor a new person, and this state isn't suddenly a forced brutality that will hurt others inherently. It allows for control and the general nature isn't going to consume Vegeta like when he was way back in early Z. It is just harnessing the power innate within him. Since he doesn't actually destroy the home himself, it's safe to say he doesn't completely lose it. He just gives Goku a hit because he interfered and can take it. Most of the stuff Vegeta does that is aggressive now is out of a new purpose, but he doesn't lose everything that makes himself who he is, just like Goku doesn't become a different person entirely with UI. It all is delving into true nature, and I think Vegeta can actually keep Ego under check without disregarding everything he has experienced if he truly does master it. Like Goku learning true Instinct through his own roots as one with Saiyan Blood as well as a peaceful upbringing. Vegeta having the harsher upbringing does mean he gets more aggressive, but doesn't hamper him. Even Majin Vegeta still loved his family, he didn't end up hitting any of his family or friends in the blast. It may not actually require full detachment. If Goku needs to hear his father to gain new power, I don't see why Vegeta needs to lose his family ties to do the same. They are both inherently different yet linked.

At least when he was pure evil in early Z invading earth, it was the closest he ever got to accomplishing anything.
The second closest he ever got was when he fully embraced himself and his way of life but still had real character development and goes through with his ideals to sacrifice himself and kill Buu.

I feel like Vegeta's final stage in this line of transformations is going to be a harmony between the best aspects of his Super Ego, and his Ego. A "Perfect" ego so to speak. @SonnyCapone not necessarily goku is very aligned with being a warrior and martial artist, and he accepts his saiyan side to boost both in that respect, where as vegetas ego is derived from being a saiyan warrior, a far more callous person who couldn’t care about being a martial artist or having a moral code of battle or war, gokus morals affect his fights outcomes time and time again, not killing opponents cause he is a moral martial artist who wants people to have a chance to grow just like vegeta and piccolo did, but vegeta (in a setting where there is nothing to protect) sees the danger of war and need for conquest/killing of others as his ‘happy place’. His pride as a father and need to protect his wife and love ones is separated from his morals in battle, the only reason he couldn’t master ultra ego is because he simply could not let go of everything (his new life) outside of battle.

Like he has to get that pride and no regret for destruction back but it’s hard because when he used to do that he was evil. I think he’s going to end up getting it back tho because he’ll realize that before he was doing it for evil but now that he does it for his family, his home, and for honorable reasons, this will make him realize that he doesn’t have to feel any type of shame or regret anymore and he can regain that pride love for destruction that is needed to master UE.

Honestly, it is just bad translation. The original is 我儘 which is better translated as self-serving or self-interested. Vegetable is driven by his own interests to bring maximum destruction in this form. Ego is about "self." But Wagamama is thinking "only about self."
Vegeta's "Wagamama" makes a good contrast with Goku's "Migatte." The two words are very similar, but "Migatte" takes an extra step by acting in self-interests even by harming others.
身勝手 is actually a double entendre because it literally means "body moves on its own." I personally would have appreciated "Ultra Impulse" instead of "Ultra instinct."

It's funny how you talk about the Ego and Super Ego in the vid. Cause, although it's a bit different with Freud, I feel like Goku's UI can be directed as the Id. The natural, primal self that never thinks higher thoughts than the base of "eat, reproduce, survive"
So Vegeta going in the opposite direction, where the mind is in full control of the body vs the body moving in a primal instinct really hammers a duality thing I've enjoyed with Super so far.

Honestly I've never had any issues with ultra ego's name, design, or even its powers. It's very clearly still incomplete, just as Goku's UI was incomplete when he first started using it. As Vegeta improves and develops new skills to supplement UE, I think we'll see it really come into its own. Maybe he'll develop a passive regen to help compensate for the damage he takes, or he'll improve the speed of his ability to ramp up in strength. I suspect that he'll stop outright tanking attacks as he gets more experienced and instead start focusing on trading blows, using the damage he takes to grow stronger at the moment of his attacks, then recovering during the lull of combat with passive regen or something

    • @ExyleCage
      @ExyleCage Год назад +3

Perhaps the way to distinguish how these forms are different would be this: Goku's form is like the flow state when you're fully concentrated on a game and the world around you disappears, since fighting is like a fun game to Goku, it's like an experimental sandbox he's messing around with. For Vegeta with the chip on his shoulder of always trying to survive in war, not fights for fun or martial arts sportsmanship but fights to the death, his form is like adrenaline and survival instinct to utterly dominate his opponent without mercy. So more of a bloodlust and frenzy of war like someone who enjoys gunning down everyone in their way and rack up killcount (to feel pride in), while Goku's is classic martial arts discipline and focus (throwing yourself against the insurmountable mountain of Jiren to surpass and better yourself, Goku's eternal goal as a gamer who wants to get gud)

His ultra ego form is an amplification of his saiyan heritage and pride. He's always fought for himself, while Goku fights for everybody else. His ultra ego form is an acceleration of his saiyan abilities. Meaning after every fight, his race get stronger the closer they come to death. It's a survival instinct. What ultra ego does is shorten that time needed to get stronger after a fight by speeding up his recovery time after eveytime he takes damage. Ultra ego is closer to, and rather an alternate form of the rage transformation super saiyans undergo but without losing his sense of self like with Broli. So really it's the legendary super saiyan rage form, similar to a completely pissed off Hulk. Since the Hulk gets stronger the madder he gets. It's the same for Broli. But what Vegeta managed to do was to enter that form without losing his sense of self bc his ego is so dominant in the way he fights. So he's able to get stronger each time he takes damage like Broli and the Hulk, but doing it without getting completely consumed by rage

I see it as a parallel to the two sides of The Force. The Light Side being selflessness and becoming one with The Force and the Dark Side being selfishness and beding The Force to your will. Ultra Instinct is giving yourself to The Force in full and letting it guide you in a sort of zen state. Ultra Ego would be the opposite, enslaving breaking the chains that binds you to it and achieving true mastery of yourself.

Vegeta is a lot like Kratos in the sense they’re both essentially where created as tools for their creators*
Both grew up as warriors who where conquering and slaughtering. Both not caring until they both have a turning point where they’re powerless and stricken.
Then outcasted and driven mad by the guilt all the slaughtering and inner torment they inflict on themselfs.
They both are trying to change and limiting themselfs because they’re subconsciously scared when they let loose that they’ll revert to the *monsters* they once where.
Kratos learned to use his unending rage and self hate for the gods and his own nature of being a god to use in bursts. As well as how to calm himself and steel his mind.
Vegetas doing the exact same, letting go of the restraints on himself.
I don’t see this as “hakai” mode but more so the whole “royal blue form/BlueEvo” evolving itself further.
Much like Gohans beast form is essentially gohans potential unleashed form feeding off gohans human brain giving into the primal “reptilian” side of our brains. And for him his “reptilian brain” is that of a saiyans.
Ergo humans are already *Animals with a tendency to perform violence in nature and present so*
So imagine what a human who’s emotionally way more complex than a saiyan has a emotional breakdown?
(Especially knowing emotion is the trigger for saiyan biology to mutate forms)
I can see how gohan beast actually makes sense perfectly.

This new form is certainly interesting for Vegeta and suits him really well in how its awoken but my question is how he's going to push through it and yet keep his development.
Its clear he does care now he's starting to like having a family and even allowed himself to fall to push towards victory in the Universal survival tournament.
Maybe instead of him abandoning one self for the other hes going to find a way to internally fuse or switch between them?
Like "In order to save those i care for i must do all it takes even if that means reducing you to dust." I don't know.
We still need to learn a lot more about Ultra Ego. Like what exactly it does because I've heard its just another multiplier, its lile instinct where theres no new boost just a state of mind and even that its a boos based on how intune with it you are and the harder the battle gets the stronger you get. We need a canon breakdown or answer from the creator.
I can see peoples worries about Vegeta having to basically cast off his development in order to hone this form but maybe this is just the start of him making a new power his own?
    Like this for example:
He gets what he wanted. Hes beaten Kakarot 1 on 1. He has a form that literally thrives in his old desire to be a ideal pridefull saiyan but he doesn't really feel complete. So he starts a journey to actually find a new him and THAT is what awakens a true power within. Ultra Vegeta as it would be.

I immediately thought of the Freudian ego when I heard Ultra Ego. But Ultra instinct isn't called Ultra Id. Also when do they get access to the Ultra Superego? From Wikipedia
    In the ego psychology model of the psyche, the id is the set of uncoordinated instinctual desires; the super-ego plays the critical and moralizing role; and the ego is the organized, realistic agent that mediates between the instinctual desires of the id and the critical super-ego;
The super ego is critical and moralizing, it represents the ideal self, unhampered by instincts or impulses. The id is those instincts and impulses, it represents the purely chemical driven animal inside every person. The Id doesn't think, it only feels and reacts.
Ultra Instinct clearly represents the ID here, not the super ego, nor an aspect of it. It's not "the other side of the same coin" as ultra ego, it is its diametric opposite. UI avoids taking hits, like an animal that doesn't want to get hurt, there is no greater INSTINCT than SELF-PRESERVATION. Ultra ego rejects the IMPULSE to avoid pain in order to fuel the super ego. The ideal warrior doesn't care if he lives or dies, he fights only to win. The Super Ego doesn't care about the body, the ultra ego is fueled by pain because tanking your oppoent's attacks and striking back shows superiority over that opponent, and Vegeta thrives on being better, in fact he's not satisfied unless he is the best.
Ultra instinct suits Goku precisely because the Id doesn't think, and Gou has never had a single thought in his entire life. He lets his body do the work for him, it's all impulse, it's all the autonomic nervous system reacting to stimuli. See an attack, avoid it! Avoid pain because the body must be preserved! The animal can only react to stimuli, the mind thinks and CHOOSES.
That's why Ultra Ego is so powerful. Ultra Ego represents the principle of Mind Over Body, after all it is your brain that ultimately decides how much power you can exert, so you can simply DECIDE to be stronger.
Ultra instinct is the body, the id, the impulse, head empty, no thoughts. Ultra ego is the mind, the super ego, mind over matter, choose to be stronger.
Theoretically, the fighter who can master both and switch between at will or meld them together should be capable of besting any opponent they face. Surpass all limits, transcend mind and body, nothing but the Self, the Ego remains.
The true final form our protagonists are after is the Ultra Self.

one thing that doesn't get enough credit, is how differently he treats the 2 trunks
future trunks is the sayan that happens to be vegeta's son, the strenght, the hadship and the toughness that being a sayan requires in sayan culture must be his and must be upholded by the last sayan, and that will give him the strenght to triumph as the one and only line of defense. training because of fighting
while present trunks it's his son that happens to be a sayan. a child growing up in a happy time the heavy fights created, that only needs to be one of the brick in the wall keeping everyone safe, only has to uphold the needs of being a "good person", training because fighting is good
I believe it's a big part of the character that isn't taken into consideration too much, especially lately as the whole zamasu arc really brought a defintive light to it

I do think Bardock's recording will also form part of Vegeta learning to reconcile the seeming contradiction he is battling with as Bardock revealed to Vegeta that Saiyans aren't nearly as cold and uncaring as he initially thought. I think part of Vegeta's inability to let go came from a desire to uphold his "Saiyan heritage" but now that he is equipped with a more nuanced understanding of his people he will be better able to embody his Saiyan nature without feeling as if the person he has become is betraying this nature.
