Then, starting in year 3 (what may be either mid-contract, or a contract year), their output will take a huge jump. Be on the lookout for guys like Kyler to seemingly rebound (barring injury, obviously). Now, Russell Wilson? I can’t really tell how much of last year was necessarily him, or the shitstorm he walked into. Hackett was a clear liability, and Russ didn’t exactly have either the best, or healthiest line to protect him. As a Saints fan, this won’t be the first time Sean Payton’s worked with a sub-6’ QB with a good arm. So, I think Denver might be in the Wild Card hunt next season.

On Jimmy G, I think you’re forgetting that Jimmy looked very good in 2016 when he started a few games for the Patriots when Brady was suspended. That was with McDaniels as the OC. Jimmy knows McDaniels system and has proven he can play in it, and that McDaniels knows how to use him. Yes the Patriots were very good that year, but Jimmy looked very good. The problem McDaniels and Carr had was that Carr didn’t fit McDaniels system. Carr works best when he can make presnap audibles and have control over the offense, McDaniels stripped him of those abilities and it ended disastrously.

Not even close, in my view. At least the guys on this list are starters who have the weight of the team on their shoulders. They're taking hits and take all the blame. What about all the career backups that don't expect to play. To this point, Jordan Love has spent however many seasons practising his handwriting on the play charts. Also, these guys are just going by the very broken market. Like I can't begrudge Russell Wilson big contracts given what he did in Seattle, and the cost of his rookie contract in full was less than Matt Flynn's for one year off the back off a flash in the pan showing with the Packers.

This is the first clip from this channel with which I disagree. There is no such thing as an overpaid player (except for Watson). There are only overpaying teams. Despite there being rules about revenue percentages going to players, none are relevant to specific positions. As stated in this very clip, player contracts are set and reset by how much the teams are willing to pay and overpay each individual player. Overall the starting QB position is overpaid in general, and much of that money could go toward paying the remaining players more equally. Especially with all the QB protection rules, that money can go to pay other players that take the most physical punishment. But until then, the QBs should take the most they can and not be called overpaid. Except for Watson. That guy is overpaid and should have been expelled from the league. And the browns should be punished for taking such a stupid bet on a sketchy bet on such a sketchy character
We're going in to the 2024 season now, and the Giants still have no backup plan to Daniel Jones. Are they hoping they suddenly get an even better version of 2022, where he took a massive leap and became... average? Or they hoping to be bad enough with him they can draft a top QB prospect? Or are they really going to not exercise the out year this offseason and actually keep paying him?
The players wanted this cast system. It screws the Merritt of someone like lamar who can't reach the robot anylitics to reach the proper cast of 4 comparable. It isn't about the individuals worth its based on the cast or class that they statically compare pay. Rich get richer .
Deshaun Watson: No QB, especially not one with only 1 playoff win, is worth $230 Million fully guaranteed. The unproven accusations are irrelevant. Russell Wilson: It was dumb for the Broncos to give him that extension before he took a single snap wearing Orange and Blue. There's no way to know whether his decline is all him or because of Hackett until the next season starts. Just another reason I am glad Hackett was fired from my favorite team, I just wish it happened a lot sooner Daniel Jones: Yes, he helped lead the Giants to an unexpected playoff run, but he is still raw and needs more work before he is "that guy". As it stands, his contract is way more than he's worth. Side Note: Don't go dissing Drew Lock. He thrived under Rich Scangarello's offense, it wasn't until Scangarello was fired and replaced by Pat Shurmur that he declined. Vic Fangio made it clear he didn't like Lock, and basically did everything he could to ruin his career. Now he's stuck as a backup to Geno Smith, a mediocre-at-best QB.
The Browns selling the house, the farm, and the hotel on Boardwalk to Watson has made every QB contract since skyrocket. Jones was certainly due a new contract with some more money, but like you said, he's still pretty raw. If he keeps improving, the contract will certainly look better, but jeez, the Browns really managed to throw the mother of all wrenches into the works.
Not for nothing but we'd be talking about Jimmy G being a Super Bowl winning QB if it weren't for the 49er defense forgetting there are 4 quarters to a football game.
Me a Cardinals fan okay let's see were Kyler Murray is but yeah I thought we should've Given him the Dak Prescott contract or maybe even a Kirk cousins/geno Smith type contract like 105mil 3yr deal were it's fully guaranteed
I wish Mariota got the same amount of chances as Jones has. I will die on the hill of Mariota being at least an average QB if he had some coaching stability earlier on in his career.
Former Vikings GM Rick Spielman ought to give the Browns front office a fruit basket every year for taking the heat off HIS gaffe. I guess the NFL is too used to "LOLBrowns" that they forget who was the real culprit for poisoning the well. Spielman was the GM when he offered Kirk Cousins a fully guaranteed contract to come play for the Vikings, and single-handedly gave QBs significant bargaining power come contract negotiations time. Even worse, while I agree that Cousins is a serviceable QB, he's not a "set the world on fire" type of QB, not really the kind of guy to give a fully guaranteed deal (no fault on Cousins, he just saw the best offer and took it, since he has a family to raise). I bring this up cause without this precedence, there would be nothing for "LOLBrowns" to capitalize on, and in turn, no drama from Lamar Jackson, and possibly from Justin Herbert, Justin Fields, Joe Burrow, or Kenny Pickett once it's THEIR turn to negotiate a new contract. But, of course, it HAD to be the Browns to make fools of themselves, and spread their brand of foolishness league-wide.
I got into an argument who said jones was a good signing cuz cousins was on his contract and I argued everyone knows it was an overpay and he’s been better and more proven prior to the deal. I argued kyler was overpaid and he was even better yet he thought that was a good reason to give Jones that contract
Russell Wilson is too short to be a quarterback in the NFL. The coaches in Seattle knew how to use that but trying to make him a pocket qb won't work. That's why he threw the int in the super bowl because he can't see over the offensive line.
Great video. However I would think that the 'highest paid' QB (by yearly average) in the league deserves to be on this list, as Aaron Rodgers is nowhere near what he once was. From 2018-2021 Rodgers averaged 34 TD, 4 picks and 4200 yards passing. In 2022 he slipped to 26 TD, 12 INT, and 3695 yards passing; in addition his yards per completion went from 7.8 to 6.8 year over year. And he had a 17th game so the per-game averages are even less than you would think (262 to 214). He's definitely overpaid at this point and with the Packers going 8-9 and missing the playoffs, it's no wonder GB is ready to move on. They see the cliff he's about to go over and are happy to wash their hands of it.
The raiders are a walking L. I was okay with letting Carr walk. But signing Jimmy G? When ARod said today he absolutely wanted to reunite with a certain wideout? Im glad to take a break from the franchise till mark sells the team or croaks
@Not Delusional Giants Fan top 10 tied with 3 people and next season or 2 won't even be top 15. Was a great deal with a low cap hi and if he goes off we can switch it up in 3 to 4 years so less cap hit
As soon as Jimmy Garoppolo falters, my Raiders have Aiden O'Connell waiting. O'Connell is a better QB. Hopefully, it's not gonna take too long for Jimmy G to get hurt ... again.
Watson has not been convicted of a crime nor even indicted. Certainly a bad deal because it's too much money and fully guaranteed but not because it's "immoral" to hire a very talented player.
I don't understand why people don't learn from the greatest quarterback of all time tom brady. Now you probably wondering what am I talking about. Have you ever wondered how does a quarterback with an average arm? An average athleticism was able to win seven super bowls. It's because he wanted to load himself with the best talent he could get his hands on. And by doing this he never was the most paid quarterback in the league. Think about it never the most paid quarterback but yet he has won 7 super bowls. He's been to 10. He made the playoffs 20 times in his career. And yet this man right here was never the most paid player in the League. He was able to have all this Success because he was able to get himself the best talent available on his team. It helps if you have a top ten defense and it helps if you have all pro white receivers and linemen. That's how he was able to accomplish so much on the field and thanks to his accomplishments. His endorsement deals are worth way more than you could have ever made in the league. Tom brady made 52 million dollars last year in endorsement deals, and thanks to all of his success. He now has a ten year 375 million dollar contract with foxsports to be a sports announcer. And since he'll still be on television a lot, Tom Brady's going to make a lot of money. So combine with the fox deal and his endorsement deals tom brady can make 89.5 million dollars a year. So think about it by the time Tom Brady is 55 years old. The fox contract is up he should be a billionaire.

Watson's contract is like Neymar's transfer fee. Astronomical and unprecedented. It's been nearly 7 years and no European club has paid €222M for a player (Around $240M USD). I mean the Browns must have been temporarily insane or something...
Now for normal deals that are coming up....I think Burrow will get a nice pay and be worth it.

He had one awful postseason game, weighed against a mediocre one and a fantastic 2019 run to the championship game. That’s a fairly decent record.
He's on the last year of his contract and has mostly been worth it. He had a top 5 offense in one of those years (a lot of it was Henry but Tannehill played solid that year too) and he looked alright in the most recent season despite bad OL/WRs

I would put derek carr on the list, how do get 35 million a year after having a bad season.
I never got Kyler Murray as a big payday guy.
It’s called desperation. Basically the 3 best QB seasons here in the desert are 1) Jake Plummer got them to and won a playoff game, 2) re-tread Kurt Warner somehow led a 9-7 team to a Santonio Holmes toe nail from a Lombardi Trophy, 3) re-tread Carson Palmer had a near MVP season but was shown who the real MVP was in an NFC championship game massacre.
Other than that it’s been a lot of mediocrity or just plain awful QB play in 35yrs.

I don’t blame nfl owners for hating the browns for what they did. The browns completely ruined the qb market and now every qb who just has a bit of success is starting to demand comically large amounts of money. It’s only good for them and it actively harms the team for the salary cap, which brings less team success. I don’t understand why these qb’s need this much money and a qb who just wins one playoff game certainly does not deserve 40 million a year.
daniel jones contract is very team friendly for the first 2 years if it doesn’t work out and it’s not overpaying him at all. by the time week 1 comes in hell be a middle of the pack paid QB too. y’all don’t understand the QB market and DJ was a borderline top 10 QB this szn. horrible take.

Every penny of Watson's deal is an insult to a lot of people. Is an insult to Watson's victims, is an insult to NFL fans, is an insult to humanity.
So how about the validity of those allegations?
At least Jones is actually working instead of playing cod like Murray
Thanks for being one of the only sports commentary channels that acknowledges Deshaun Watson as a predator.. weird how people will tiptoe around it just because he still has a job?
That Jimmy G contract is highly incentive based, 5. Quit being disingenuous.

Damn, I could've swore Dak would've been here.

dak kinda earned it.only qb in his draft class still on his team.has done way better than a lot of 1st rounder qbs in the last few seasons(dak is a 4th round pick)
@@yudigg7 Dak was supposed to go much higher, his stock dropped because of himself
@@yudigg7 unfortunately the problem with cowboys QBs isn't having success in the regular season; it's actually winning playoff games. Romo had the same issue before they dropped him for Dak.
Dak gets paid more than DJ and throws three times as many picks for not that many more TDs
Jimmy G isn't a bad QB, he's between 20 and 12 at any given time, he's very good, so he's worth the money, oh, and he's better than Daniel Jones

Jimmy Garoppolo? Overpaid? Really?
When Jimmy G is healthy for even half a season his team goes to the championship game. If he was really just a product of Kyle Shanahan’s system, why didn’t they make it in 2018 and 2020? Plus, let’s not forget he was the anointed successor to the GOAT before Tom Brady had him kicked off the team.
Clearly, he’s been doing something right.
It’s the handsomeness making people underestimate the man. Apart from being made of glass he has all the makings of a great QB. People rag on him for the SB but I’d put that up to the Kyle Shanahan choking-habit of NOT RUNNING THE BALL WHEN UP BY TWO FIGURES.
They just made the nfc chip without him lol
Gotta say I wish I looked like Jimmy G...
I think calling Jimmy G one of the 5 most overpaid is just plain wrong! $24/million a year, and you can get out of the contract after 1 year for $18 million dead cap. Dak has be on this list before Handsome Jimmy!
Jimmy also throws only short passes and is not even mediocre at best. Guy got carried by the number 1 defense for years and nearly got Kyle Shanahan fired because he kept that bum at qb for so long and they couldn't get it done in the Superbowl or other clutch games.

Or are they really going to not exercise the out year this offseason and actually keep paying him?
russ is the guy who when being yelled at for sucking says “im trying my best please stop” 6:38
The players wanted this cast system.
It screws the Merritt of someone like lamar who can't reach the robot anylitics to reach the proper cast of 4 comparable.
It isn't about the individuals worth its based on the cast or class that they statically compare pay. Rich get richer .
"Cornier than a 5th graders shit in iowa"...... damn 5 wtf?!?! Lmfao awesome 👌
In all fairness, Jimmy is being paid appropriately. God bless!
Just another reason I am glad Hackett was fired from my favorite team, I just wish it happened a lot sooner
Daniel Jones: Yes, he helped lead the Giants to an unexpected playoff run, but he is still raw and needs more work before he is "that guy".
Now he's stuck as a backup to Geno Smith, a mediocre-at-best QB.
nice to see another broncos fan here
No way you called a guy who threw 30 TDS and was in the MVP race mediocre at best. He also had the best passer rating in the league.
@@TheeUnknown420 I did, and you can't honestly believe he stood a chance at winning MVP.
I hope Danny "dimes" plays in NY for the next 10 years.

Oh for fuck's sake, do you want me to buy a bag of coffee for my mom? Fine.
Come on, where the fuck is Kirk Cousins?
Fully. GUARANTEED! At the time.
I'd put Dak instead of Jimmy G.
U forgot to mention that we got Waller.
Honorable mention is Dak Prescott
Russell Wilson is too short to be a quarterback in the NFL. The coaches in Seattle knew how to use that but trying to make him a pocket qb won't work. That's why he threw the int in the super bowl because he can't see over the offensive line.
I agree Jones shouldn't be paid that much but also we finally won a playoff game so can't say he doesn't deserve it
Great video. They see the cliff he's about to go over and are happy to wash their hands of it.
isnt benchwarmer brew brandon perna's coffee?
Wow, as a Cowboys fan, I'm shocked and almost offended not to see Dak on this list.
Rodgers is not worth what he’s getting paid, he’s not that guy anymore..
The raiders are a walking L. I was okay with letting Carr walk. But signing Jimmy G? When ARod said today he absolutely wanted to reunite with a certain wideout? Im glad to take a break from the franchise till mark sells the team or croaks
Hey, I was born and raised in Iowa and we don’t take kindly to people like Russell Wilson putting a bad name on corn.
The Browns paid those to settle out of court basically imo
I think if anyone couldn't play for 700 days, no matter who it is, they'd play like shit too.
Aaron Rodgers should be on this list to. Holy shit. And given his production this season and choking so bad in the playoffs, he's way overpaid.
You could argue that DJ was overpaid, but it’s clear that Brian Daboll believes in him and the team believes in both.
That should justify it enough
