Legitimately - Guy has always been the Green Lantern I've wanted to see more stories about. Ever since he fought Hal for the right to have the ring really
@@vicentegeonixbecause he's a more interesting character and never needed Geoff Johns to retcon out pedophilia. Like, Guy's an asshole yeah, but that's a personality
I don't think enough people appreciate that Guy since 2005 has had pretty much an uninterputed run of great stories. From David Gibbons/Peter Tomasi's GLC, to Soule's Red Lanterns, to Venditti's Hal and Pals. Not many characters have that level of a good track record.
Growing up in the 80s and 90s, I had seen this version of Guy Gardner, but I never knew how he got Sinestro's yellow ring. What a ridiculous story. I must find this story and add it to my Green Lantern collection. LOL
YOU LEAVE GUY GARDNER ALONE! (sob) He's cool! Seriously though, Guy is one of my favorite characters. He's basically Jack Burton from Big Trouble in Little China. Please do some of the post GL rebirth Green Lantern Corps. You'll like him a little better then I think.
While I don't like Guy, I really wanna like him. I think he should have a team up book with another hero and they become best friends. Like Blue and Gold but with an optimist and a guy with a chip on his shoulder. Show more of him with his close relationships.
Dude is the definition of a high school scummy douche bag jock who always acts like he's better than anyone... I never hated a fictional character before but Guy Gardner is the top of my list
Well said. But the reflections of this show reflect most of guy's history pre Geoff John's. And he was an ultra try hard tough guy, never mind those boots. He was completely unlikable until post green lantern rebirth.
The story that I think would be great to cover is when Guy Gardner becomes a Red Lantern. That actually seems like a great story that fixes the character.
Great some ol Guy Gardner action! I was a big GG fan especially under Giffen and J. M. DeMatteis Justice League run. What folks forget is that both of Guy's 90's personas were the result of head trauma in the past. His haircut was inspired by General Glory's golden age sidekick....and he technically did not recruit G'nort...but G'nort was his deputy for the sector. G'nort debuted in MILLENNIUM. So arrogant, blow hard Guy and peace loving Guy are extremes of his actual personality which was originally somewhat in the middle and much more noble and heroic.. Guy's progress after JLI era ended is more about having his story being caught up and needing to be altered due to radically shifting editorial mandates. He stops being a GL as they get ready to phase out the Corps. He gets the silly "Warrior" deal and alien DNA once editorial decides that they want no one else to have a ring. The authors wanted to make Guy into a nonpowered Indiana Jones/Doc Savage adventurer...but editorial nixed that due to the success of Power Rangers and pushed for the Warrior deal. Guy's history is just writers making lemons out of lemonade. I hope one day you guys check out John Stewart's Green Lantern MOSAIC series which was running right around the same time as this. It's IMO the most underrated mainstream comic of the 90's.
I'm only 10 seconds into this video and just looking at some of the panels that will be talked about possibly in this episode I already know I'm going to enjoy this book when I buy it I know I'm going to get a lot of flack for this but guy Gardner is actually one of my favorite lanterns there I said it bring it on Internet
bradley archie Definetly my favorite of the group. Second is John Stewart followed by Hal. Cannot stand Kyle Rayner. The new ones aren’t even interesting
Same bro. I find Guy to be hysterical and an actual great character. He's gotten better over the years, like he's less arrogant and cocky. Hell, he led the red lanterns for a while. He's pretty flipping awesome. The John is my second, then Alan scott, then kyle, then kilowog..... and I guess hal.
I'm actually a big fan of Guy I have his whole solo run (16$ at zapp) as well as collateral damage & alot of the red lantern stuff but I've never actually read this so a big thank you for doing this!
I just adore this episode. I donated to yesterday's off the rack and forgot to write congrats on 100k so I'll just leave it here on one of my favorite episodes for posterity.
*Episode 299* Sal: Are we gonna do The New Frontier? Me: An obvious misdirect. *Episode 300* Ben: What are we gonna do next week? Sal: Guy Gardner Reborn... Me: Haha, good one. 😐
The ComicPop guys actually got me into Green Lantern I have most of Geoff John’s run up to Wrath of The first lantern I’m actually looking into getting Ron Marz’s Kyle Rayner run now.
Not only are so many Green Lanterns from Earth, but all of them are from America. Not like a mercenary in a war torn country, because we all know they don't have strong willpower and the ability to overcome great fear. Lol.
This did not dissapoint in it's utter crappiness. I'm with Tiffany as well, enough with the disrespect to the home boy John Stewart. Just cuz others are jealous that he's the best Lantern doesn't mean he deserves to be beaten by Guy Gardner, no one deserves that level of humiliation. Great Show, the Guy Gardner is compensating part had me dying.
@Heartattack 77 As much as I love John Stewart, mainly from watching Justice League and Static Shock growing up, I totally agree with you. Kyle Rayner and Wally West both were good characters who, imho, were better than their predecessors, sometimes I wish DC/Geoff Johns (finger guns) never pulled Hal and Barry back.
@Heartattack 77 I actually like Guy, but I gotta say that Hal is the greatest of them all. The things he suffered through, and came back from are nuts.
Pretty much anything I know about Guy Gardner has come from this channel. Judging from this episode, Guy Gardner seems like DC's version of Eric O'Grady, The Irredeemable Ant-Man.
Sal: I don't know why we do this much green lantern Me: I don't know Sal maybe because green lantern is freaking awesome and cool jajajaja good episode sal please keep up the good work ( and the green lantern books, even the shitty ones like this one)
Guy Gardner is awesome, and you can't handle it! ...Yeah, this particular book sound especially silly, but Guy has always been the writer's punching bag, and he was a prominent member of the infamously farcical Justice League International... Speaking of, G'Nort is featured (and mocked) in the equally silly Formerly Known as the Justice League, while Guy brings his epic presence to the follow up I Can't Believe It's Not the Jusctice League.
You guys should check out a book called Batman Through the looking glass. It’s a real mind trip that I remember stuck with me when I was younger and I think it would be a fun read for the show
I got Guy Gardner comics because I had never read comics before and we shared the same name. I was definitely let down. Could have started with almost anyone else ha
Another great Back Issues guys, keep it up! :) Just curious, since Geoff Johns’ (shooting fingers) Green Lantern run is considered the best and difficult to rival, are any of you reading Grant Morrison’s current Green Lantern run? I’ve read and heard good things about it, but I haven’t started reading it yet.
Ben: What book are we going to do for 301?
Sal: Guy Gardner Reborn...
Ben: ... Oh.
And then he avoided the recording session all together.
I didn't know Sal was being serious lol
Sal's loosening his policy!
That was hilarious and now it's even funnier he's not here
He should've stuck with the "The Gardner" codename. Not because he puts things six feet under, but because he's mostly full of sh**.
How dare you compare Guy Gardner to shit! At least fertilizer is useful.
Grievousish He’s a fine batch of manure ;)

Turns out it was Kuzco that had Guy's groove all along. Who needs potions to kill an emperor when you've got a power ring.

Haha no, he sucks

Heroes have had bad pasts but Guy has zero excuses

Me: has hour to kill
Comicpop: gotcha fam
The story that I think would be great to cover is when Guy Gardner becomes a Red Lantern. That actually seems like a great story that fixes the character.
I do too. It was a great run. But I have a feeling Sal will just bash it anyways cause he doesn't like Guy.

I thought the Guy Gardner comment in the last back issues was a joke... I'm a fool
James P. I was hoping for Ben to be here haha
i don't know about others but this is a fan favorite of mine. one of the funniest episodes.
I am hyped for this , but I'm not gonna lie I thought you were joking about Guy Gardner reborn .
"General Glory? WHO THE HELL IS THAT"??
Gold face AKA Trinidad James. All Gold Everything 😂 😂 😂

Guy Gardner is best Green Lantern!!!
I will never forget how Rob raved about Guy Gardner hitting on an alien women while being tortured. XD
I see you're a man of taste. (I love 100 bullets)
He wasnt lying?! Yes! Guy Gardner all the way
Why does the superhero from my hometown gotta be effed up like that but this back issues had me laughing to tears
Thank you Sal and Tiff -for putting a Mysterio Action Figure in the Shelves. My favorite Spiderman villain since I was a child.
My favorite Green Lantern cause he's actually a Person
What about Jessica Cruz?
@@AGuyWithTheFace Jessica is a comic book character....
Another episode that is just a gift to the Population. So much fun. So much disbelief. I love it all

im really happy guy is an actually good character nowadays i love the bromance with john in tomasis green lantern corps book
never expected to see this on back issues, can't wait to watch.
This is one of my favorite books of all time. I loved this as a kid. Guy is my favorite Lantern. I even have 2 of his first appearance.
This feels like an intervention for my taste in comics. I bloody loved Guy Gardner and G'nort. Justice League Antarctica was an absolute banger.
Wow. I didn't mind him because I rarely saw him. But like...😂 All I can say is wow. Great show as always!
Belts, bowl cuts and bullets with guns that are placed in impossible locations to use.....a classic in the waiting!!😂
Tiffany's expression starting at 12:27 and lasting nearly 15 seconds
Love to be casually reminded the 90s was a mistake.
LOL
Oh no its my childhood... im cringing remembering this something i read all the time

Thanks for the episode, I never read or knew this story until now.
Guy is my favorite green lantern.
Read Guy Gardners red lantern run, it’s actually good.
Yellow lantern guy is rad hahaha.

WE THOUGHT YOU WERE JOKING
This episode was amazing!
Belly blouse hahahahahaha man these guys are all exceptional! Genuinely intelligent insight, great reviews, and funny as hell!
Best video title ever
OK, everything you guys just described sounds exactly like the kind of dumb cheese I live for. Buying the set off eBay now.
Every time I see Guy Gardner I’m like “….. WHY THO” 😂
the Gardner....someone's gotta cut the weeds... LOL
Everything Sal hates about guy are reasons I love guy
the fact that guy, himself finds out he's part alien as well and became the warrior
I actually love the issue of Guy and Hal fighting. This was a fun treat. Haha
Indestructible Lobo jacket haha. This is so ridiculous
Ah, yes. The greatest lantern of them all. Guy Gardner.
Guy is the best lantern!
I want Jon Berenthal to play a live action Guy Gardner
“Great”. “Cool”.
I would love this series as a podcast, my commute is too long!
Guy has always been my favorite dc character.
The only time i have really enjoyed any Guy Gardner was during "Hal Jorden and the Green Lanterns" during Rebirth.
Unpopular opinion: Guy Gardner is the best Green Lantern.
17:03 😂😂😂
Guy Gardner's bowl cut is in honor of his personal hero, General Glory.
Lol I thought you were joking
Easily my favourite Green Lantern.
Sal: I don't know why we do this much green lantern
Me: I don't know Sal maybe because green lantern is freaking awesome and cool jajajaja good episode sal please keep up the good work ( and the green lantern books, even the shitty ones like this one)
man I hope they do dex-starr's origin on the good the bad and the ugly
Speaking for every Guy Gardner fan: "Um... What about Recharge and Rebirth? What about Injustice?? What about Red Lanterns???"
Dexx Baker preach, brother.
Awwwwww I wanted at least an issue about that beatnik Qwardian guy... But, it's Lobo, man... You don't mess with the Main Man...
Please do “A Guy and his G’Nort” and “Justice League Antarctica” in the future. I wants me some more G’Nort!
I started loving guy during the rebirth era of dc
YES! YES! YES! YES!
I can’t believe you did this
The amount of human Green Lanterns is too damn high!
Guy Gardner is awesome, and you can't handle it!
...Yeah, this particular book sound especially silly, but Guy has always been the writer's punching bag, and he was a prominent member of the infamously farcical Justice League International... Anyone here after the Superman movie?
Guy Gardner Looks Wonderful in Superman Teaser 🦸🏻.
Everyone hates how he looks and it's perfect!
14:04 how was there not an Austin Powers joke there
wait this wasn't a joke
I know that comics can just be dumb fun sometimes, but I look at Guy and G'Nort and think "wtf were the Guardians thinking?"
Finally a video on the best Lanturn.
Guy is great when you see him as a joke. Though Red Lantern Guy is great.
A lot of nerd things percolating in my mind. General Glory=Major Glory from Dexters Lab after a promotion ? Hmm .
I would love for you guys to do Red Daughter. Guy at his best and most scruffy
I still think that Guy’s greatest claim to fame was getting punched in the face by Batman.
Guy in this reminds me of Flashman. he lies, cheats, steals, and cowards his way to success he ultimately doesn't deserve.
For fucks sake, I thought you were kidding about doing this.
"...a power bestowed upon me by the oldest race in universe....to cut my own hair"
Now that's. Part of the oath they don't much include anymore...

Guy Gardner: Grave Robber
He probably doesn't like Guy Gardner because he's a ginger.
If that's the case, Tiff better watch out.
I was waiting for her to use the ginger card ...haha
Ben would had laughed his ass off to this much like how I did while watching
Gnort Rises
Nice video.
