- Hey Rock Raiders! We're back again for a big one - the Power Station!
An extra special thank you to Baraklava, Juniper, and Sadie for their contributions; without them, this video would not have been possible!
An additional thank you to Floux Achers for lending their modification design for the top module!
Here are the Step By Step photos if you would like to go at your own pace!

I create all of the photography and stop motion animation you see in these videos. Brett creates all of the original artwork.
Thanks for watching everyone!
It's so satisfying to see these brought to life so faithfully to how they were depicted in the game. As a kid, I spent hours trying to recreate the Power Station tower. I love how you showcase all of the hidden details. You blew my mind with those black clips! Also, your high quality photography and other production value is really appreciated. Can't wait for the next one!
Thank you! I'm very pleased at how all the pieces fell into place for this one, haha.
The black clips blew my mind too! I was pretty "bleh" about them at first, but they've grown on me over time. Definitely a weird, seldom seen detail that is completely understandable it was missed for so many years. 😊
@@RRSlugger thanks for the heart ❤️ :)
Wow, the thoroughness of the research is astounding. Great job! Also on the editing, one can tell that a musician was at work here. Every building step gets exactely 4 beats. As a fellow musician I highly appreciate that 😊
Once again another satisfying R.R. Slugger video from end to end. It's uplifting how much effort you put into these from research, discussion with other fans, photography and building possibilities for their time, as well as the animations in use with other vehicles and figures. Excitement and anticipation well paid off.
Thank you Joey! ❤️
Thanks! This helped me improve the accuracy of my Power Station model!
Of course Brian! 😊
Mmmm this channel is going to make me sort through all my legos if I keep watching!
I feel like it would be possible to make like a tabletop roleplaying game, like d&d, with physical lego builds in the rock raiders universe, obviously where you mine for crystals and ore to pay for buildings and such, maybe with a kind of dungeon master.
Dont know why that idea popped into my head btw
That could be cool to see, for sure! 😊
Tbh when I (and probably most commonman) think of DDI, they think of the Shovelware titles on the Wii, but knowing they made a great Lego game made me think of them twice...
I really appreciate the thorough, almost reverent attention to detail you put into making these. It's clearly showcases your dedication and makes the videos all the more interesting to watch.
Anyway, I need to limit myself or this video series is going to become dangerously expensive for me. However, of all the Rock Raiders buildings this is the one I am going to make for sure, especially since it'll slot into my Rock Raiders HQ set. I also have a wild idea of squeezing in that (lifespan shortening) energy crystal containment bay into the HQ without getting rid of the other structures that I'd like to try. Hopefully I can find the containers and doors without hurting my wallet too much...
Thanks Travis! I couldn't do it alone - there are several other "Rock Raiders" who help me with the videos in this series. 😊
I don't *think* the trans neon green containers will hurt the wallet too much, but it may be difficult to find all 8 available from a single seller... Hopefully you luck out though!
Do you sell sme of the neon green mail boxes? :D

That deep dive into detail discovery was delightful!
As is your alliteration! 😄
Oh yeah, just amazing to see, that u can use the reflections of an old render to see what bricks were used on the inside...
Interesting thought about the idea that the Power Station and Ore Refinery had their purposes swapped: if you actually did do a swap, and transfer the neon green "battery" unit over, the new Power Station ends up with an extended L-shaped footprint (a knight's move in chess), while the new Ore Refinery ends up with the same footprint as most of the other buildings, 1x2 including the front pad. This would actually make it a lot harder to place the Power Station in a base! Unless the front pad was moved into the corner to make it a 2x2 footprint, the same as a Super Teleporter...
It's a great day for Rock Raiders!
I'm always amazed at the level of research put into this; I know I could never figure it out to that extent!
And I always love hearing my favorite song that's come from this channel, that first one. That's the theme song to me.
And I still love how you synced the photos to the music, it's such an unnecessary but delightful detail.
Thanks! Maybe in a couple decades I'll have these pieces and can dig them out.
This is one I’m super excited to build myself! I love the moc at 10:03. When you post this on Instagram, can you provide more angles of where you added tubes?
Thank you! I *think* the MOC has been featured on my Instagram in the past, but I could be wrong.
I might be able to provide more detail on where to place the tubes, but I am in the middle of moving right now, so new photography will be impossible for a while. Nonetheless, I think it is a fairly straightforward change; you are just replacing a couple exterior bricks with some 2458’s in whatever colour you think fits. 👍
@@RRSlugger thanks Slugger - best of luck with the move, that’s never much fun’
I’ve been waiting for this build with baited breath! So excited!
Wish you had some better shots of those tube connections!
Hopefully it was worth the wait!
The big black tubes connect using four 2458's placed where some bricks used to be - I think it should be fairly straightforward to intuit where to place them. 😊
You can use Black and Dark Grey versions to make them blend in more, but honestly I think it would look fine with just the standard Light Grey 2458's from the other sets in the theme.
I really really really really really want to BrickLink the parts for this and the Support Station, but the shipping is going to kill me. As for those clips, they don't appear on the in-game model, do they? If not, that means even the model artists for the PC game missed them on the renders :)
I'd recommend taking some shortcuts then - there are some parts within the model that could definitely be substituted with parts you already have. 👍
The clips do not appear in game, however, this is probably due to the reduced detail on the in game models in general, rather than a genuinely missed detail (though one never knows!). 🙂
I've never played the rock raiders game, nor did I own any sets from the theme (closest thing was Power Miners) - but man I find your videos really relaxing.
Thank you Tiishen! If you ever want to try out the game, a modern fan remake called “Manic Miners” should run on most PCs/Macs today - you can find it with a quick Google search. 😊
@@RRSlugger Ooh, I'll have a look at it later then!
Do you have any better pic for the large vehicule that we can see at 10:27 ?
Amazing video btw !
Thank you! Here’s a link to the original Reddit post that inspired my build of it (you can see more pictures of my model in that same subreddit too!)

I´ve already built the Teleport Pad, Power Station, Support Station and Super Teleporter to add to my Rock Raiders collection - Childhood Dream came true!
Yesssss! I'm so happy to finally see you tackle this one! :D The stop motion and photos are just so incredibly satisfying. I'm dying to hunt down parts to make my own! Hopefully it won't become too much harder as a result of this video. 😂 My thanks go out to everyone for their hard work researching this one for accuracy! I especially love that gear function combined with the jumper plate, and I'll definitely be including them in my version. I hope many Rock Raiders fans out there will find this video helpful in their search for instructions for the Power Station. As always, looking forward to more videos! Thanks Slugger!
Thanks for the great comment! I hope your reconstruction goes swimmingly! 😊
I too am indebted to others who care about this stuff like I do - they’re what make these videos possible. 👍
oh hey, i've seen this one before
although it may be looked down upon i hope that some legally distinct fan remakes of some of the rock raiders pieces may be created at some point
4:09 hooray, you have a Brick Vac too!!
Привет! Отличное видео. Мне удалось приобрести набор 4940. Я нашел друга , который тоже любит рок райдерс , у него три набора 4950 и четыре набора 4940 и он мне по дружески отдал один. Жду когда прилетит )
Thanks! That’s a great friend to have, I’d say! 😊
@@RRSlugger Он меня сам нашел , ну а я продолжил общенние
You achieve the dream of all people that played Rock Raiders backed then by those builds. Out of context, do you consider joining Lego Masters TV show? I would love to see one of my favourite RUclipsrs there!
Thank you! As much as I love LEGO, my building techniques are about 20 years out of date, haha. There's no way I could compete in today's day and age when I don't even build with pieces made in new grey. 😅
Now, a competition limited to 90's era pieces? I'd sweep the competition! 😉
Another splendid video!
Is it possible to buy all the needed pieces from brick link? Can you provide a link to the model build from Studio? So I can just input it and it can calculate all the bricks and how much it would cost to order it
This link will get you everything you need!

When I was recreating the build for my personal reference when I finally build this for myself, I did include tubes and the technic connection for them.
Nice! Yeah, I think that's a totally valid choice! 👍
The GOAT building
I still need to get those trans-neon green boxes, I think I’ve finally learned how to use Bricklink effectively. Bashed the cobwebs off that dusty old interface hahaha.
Haha, yeah - it’s like going through a time machine using that site. 😅
Great video! By the way, are you "nimril" on Rebrickable, or is that someone else?
Thank you! I’m not sure I have a Rebrickable account, sorry.
Great video, Slugger! Can't wait for the next one! :D
Thank you! I was really pleased with how well this one came together, even if I had to rerecord the entire script at one point due to little changes throughout, haha. 😅
Definitely making a Blacktron one of these, great videos 👍🏼
I think M-Tron should have one too...
*Quotes Michael Scott*
POOWWEERR! ⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡👍
Excellent video! I hope I can find the pieces I need soon
Thank you! Most RR pieces are very inexpensive on Bricklink, though the sheer volume of trans neon green containers needed will be a barrier to entry...
Hardest part is gettijg all the 2 tall slopes in big quantities from a single seller
This was some super impressive sleuthing!!! Awesome video!
While I don't mind the look of the narrow front of the tower, is it possible that the narrow front is a prototype version like some of the previous builds? It definitely looks like theres black inverted slopes on the bottom on the in game model as opposed to the black 1x2 bricks. It'd also allow the bucket to hinge all the way back into the tower.
Excited to see more of this series!
It’s certainly a possibility and hard to rule out. In the end though, if we go with building what appears in game rather than focussing on the high quality renders, we are left with so much ambiguity that it’s hard to do a proper “How To Build” type video. 😅
@@RRSlugger fair point :p
In the end, I like what you've ended up with!
as one of the people working on reverse engineering these models, I would like to throw in my own opinion here.
The thing about the in game models is that they're optimized to not take up too much processing power to render, which means reducing the amount of polygons in the model as much as possible while still maintaining the overall intended look.
Differences like the wider front of the power station can be explained by the fact that they reduce the amount of polygons in the model, as the sides are now one solid surface instead of having multiple faces. Thus it's unlikely that the change represents and intentional redesign of the building. This is the main reason why the in game models are the least prioritized- the renders and textures do not possess this restriction of optimized polygon count and thus are able to represent the intended design much more accurately
Hey slugger I just wanted to say I love your videos so much. You inspired me to pick up the Granite Grinder and it's one of my favorite sets in my collection now. I'm so glad you make these videos and especially I love how passionate you seem about general Lego and Rock Raiders specifically :) thanks for keeping up the love for older Lego themes (especially non-licensed ones because they get way less attention than licensed themes). Your videos really make me smile and they're soooo great to put on while building Lego. Thank you so much for making this hobby even more enjoyable for me and other subscribers
Thank you for the great comment! I’m excited to hear you’re enjoying your Granite Grinder, as well as the videos I make here. 😊
Things have been a little slow this month as I move into a new house, but hopefully there will be some fun new content on the horizon!
I HAD ONE OF THOSE SWEEPERS @4.07
They're pretty cool, eh!
@@RRSlugger Dam right, I remember as a kid just spreading bits everywhere and spending hours sweeping them up.

Everyday!
I cannot describe the sheer joy that your content brings me!
Thank you Brandon! ❤️
Your attention to detail is nutty
It’s the result of many sets of eyes looking at the same thing long enough! 😊
Thanks! This is gonna look nice in my lego city
Every city needs a source of power! I dig it!
Its going to go next to a space forces base as well
