Hey folks, thanks for checking out the video! Let's make this comment chain a *SPOILERS* discussion for the video. Don't read any further if you haven't already finished the video! In addition to talking about the contents of the video, there is also one other thing I want to nip in the bud here if at all possible... AI Art. Obviously, a ton of what you see in this video was created using AI assisted/generated visual art and I'm aware that its a heated topic, especially within other visual art circles. I just want to get out in front of this and say that the creations you see in this video are not your enemy. This is not some corporation refusing to hire artists while letting a computer do all the work for free; this is a small fan project that simply wouldn't exist without AI art. No jobs were lost here - had AI not been an option, this work of art would've simply been infeasible to make. By using AI here, art was *created* not destroyed, at least in this slug's opinion. You are absolutely free to disagree, though I'll add that you're also free to keep that to yourself. We don't need to create a war zone in the comment section! Hopefully this is just a preemptive overreaction on my part and cooler heads can prevail; if you *are* immensely put off by AI Art, than I suggest heeding by Solar Sand's sound advice - pick your battles well. This one might not be worth fighting today. ❤
For fun idea generation, I don't hate AI art. I have many strong opinions on wider use, but I'd lie if it hasn't been a good starting point for my own work.
Gonna get on that bandcamp, yall have a great vibe not just in your music but in your passion for making this great thing that so beautifully captures that nostalgic feeling of LEGO.
The main problem with AI art is how it’s used and the context it’s used in, and I firmly believe it was used properly here. Genuinely such a wonderful experience that had so much effort put into it. Such a fun video.
I really had a horrible evening today. But then I watched this video and I felt like a child again! Handcrafted riddles, deciphered by using Lego parts; A Lego catalogue from an alternate universe; magnified Lego prints made into paper cards; the depiction of Minifigures of all themes (and the Rock Raiders Slug) peacefully sitting around the campfire, listening to the story Majisto is telling them; and then the music started playing... This video really reminded me of how Lego is one of the few things that really makes me enjoy life. I'll definitely check out Dreamcastle's music. Everything that brings me back to more serene times gets my full support! Thank you so much for bringing a smile to my face!
I’m sorry to hear about the strife you’re going through right now! I hope things look better soon, and even if that seems unlikely, like you said LEGO is great escapism. ❤️ Stay well, friend!
I'm literally gonna cry, the commitment to every ounce of this package is insane!! Dreamcastle is an absolute treasure, genuinely have not felt so catered to in my interests like,,ever?? i don't even know what to do with myself, i think im just gonna spend the next hour listening to all their music and go from there XD god i love our lil community so much~ 💜
Mind bogglingly awesome. I was smiling ear to ear throughout! The period-appropriate 1990s LEGO references and visuals everywhere are just the perfect set dressing for a well done puzzle in the vein of the popular escape-room-in-a-box products offerings from Ravensburger and many other toy companies. Huge props to the Dreamcastle folks.
Man, it is so cool to see you unbox this Dreamcastle set. Dreamcastle basically singlehandedly pulled me out of my LEGO dark age, which eventually led me to your channel, so this is like coming full circle. Everything Dreamcastle produces, from music to websites and more, is such high quality and so detail-oriented, it reminds me of your production as well. I hope you enjoy their work, as a musical artist yourself. I highly recommend that everyone at least listen to their album “All The Moments You Can Never Return To”, it’s genuinely incredible. That album, and all of Dreamcastle’s work, are some of the purest distillations of utter nostalgia, love, and memory I’ve ever experienced.
Man, that made me tear up, feeling nostalgic for such a bygone era... they really knew just the right heartstrings to pull! The booklet INSTANTLY gave me flashbacks to flipping through old Lego magazines and being amazed at all the sets that I was never able to own. That was genuinely amazing. Also jeez, you're quick on the uptake, aren't you? You count the syllables, go "Oh that must be a Lego set", immediately realize that the colored lenses are important, and then you start decoding the message afterwards. I was so overwhelmed with everything in the package, and you figured it out right away. Impressive!
It was really wonderful! I feel like it was a total fluke that I was able to be quick on the draw here, haha. The whole time I was thinking that I would look like such an idiot for being so wrong with my guesses! 😂
Halfway in and I'm amazed by how professional and vintage official it all looks. Some of it is even weathered slightly. dreamcastle did an amazing job.
This was absolutely awsome, Slug is one of the most creative youtubers and from what Ive seen on RUclips anyone who gives his videos a watch can agree, and now he generates this creative community around him, truly unique.
gosh, this album, the box and presentation it comes in, and the whole video itself are all pretty incredible. the AI art i spotted was tasteful and worthwhile for the context it's being used, and it's some of the most interesting vaporwave/plunderphonics music i've heard in a while. props to Dreamcastle, and thank you Slug for being a great presenter and an astute code-cracker, it made this video extremely fun to watch ^^
I just discovered this channel and was amazed by the classic reviews, but this took the community just to another level! I love creating little creative gifts for my friends, but never achieved something this amazing - that's an insane amount of fantasy and work! And it was great fun to watch you unpacking it! 😂👍
Thank you! Welcome to the channel, by the way! ❤️ A couple of videos I recommend checking out include Slugger’s First Birthday episode and the 1,012 Subscriber Special! 😊
Wow. This is just art. The box, the magazine, a cassette for pete sake. And the code hidden through all of it. Big thanks to you and dreamcastle for this treat
@8:41 - btw, the Lego World Map is actually from Slizer ( Technic ), for some reason I love that theme - depends on how you look at it, a lot of things started from Slizer
Well this was an unexpected treat! I've been subbed to both of you for a while, and I'm a big fan of Dreamcastle's Legowave stuff so to see you get to unbox a legit set is awesome!
How? HOW?! If I had known that making my own MOC boxes and manuals was this easy, I would've started ages ago! I'm shocked that all of this effort was just for some music! You have some dedicated fans, that's for sure!
That was just incredible I always thought that old Lego box arts (especially from Paradisa) really suits vaporwave aesthetic But this is something else, being so familiar yet otherworldly with that 199X stuff and upcoming Time Cruisers movie, it's like a treasure from another universe So much positive emotions from the video!
So cool! It's always trippy seeing such scarily accurate fan creations of old products. When you first unboxed the set I was wondering whether or not Dreamcastle was an actual theme that maybe flew under the radar!
No joke, as the intro was playing, I Thought out loud, "I don't think I'm prepared for this video." Based on the thumbnail and title. With the opening disclaimer, I think I'm even less prepared.
The moment you said in the beginning "You're not prepared for this video" a child screamed really loudly outside my house. It perfectly fit at that moment. Edit: this was awesome! So well made.
I know those mocs! I see them come up when I'm looking for time cruisers mocs for inspo, and that playlist too! Thanks for sharing this with us, slugger!
Wow, what a magical kit, in every way. These people put so much effort and also love into this, and it shows. Major props to all the graphic design and everything, very cohesive and period-appropriate.
Wow, not everyday you get a LEGO set from an alternate universe with a *runic cipher* in your PO box! I missed the Starmail cutoff date, but one day I hope to share something that’s at least 10% as cool as this. Despite the Summer of Slug drawing to a close I’m excited for the future, and *ROBOFORCE*
Oh my GOD! The amount of work that had to go into this... The box and its contents alone have to represent at least a hundred man hours, to say nothing of the production of the actual music. In this video you're holding hundreds of hours of work in your hands, all to evoke a sense of forlorn nostalgia in a handful of specific nerds. Congratulations to Dreamcastle, this is one hell of a work of art.
What an incredible project. Thanks so much for sharing this with us, Slugger! Truely a piece of art. All the designs, the crazy alternative takes, really blew me away!
This was truly a wholesome and heartwarming time. Seeing that first picture with the apple tree-dog-man-elephant had me reeling cause I know I did that as a kid. Truly a labor of love and great vibes all around.
Crazy to see a Lego puzzle box with a custom set, it’s all so incredibly well done! Ending the Summer of Slug with a bang I suppose. It’s been a blast! One must wonder… what will happen to the intro in the last video (if there’s another)?
Wait a second, are you recording a slightly different version of the Summer of Slug theme for each video? LOL And holy smokes that box is insane!!! I loved this, what a fantastic gift, I love how it has so much attention to detail and how it tries to be genuine and mysterious and everything (and nails it). So much content here. And of course this video of you reacting to it was a lot of fun to watch
This looks awesome! I don't think it's coincidental that the number of this set, 6494, is the same number as the Mystic Mountain Time Lab from Time Cruisers.

Cory in the house is the greatest anime of all time
And thus the SolarSands - R.R. Slugger shout-out circle has come… well, full circle
For fun idea generation, I don't hate AI art. I have many strong opinions on wider use, but I'd lie if it hasn't been a good starting point for my own work.
There seemed to be lego instructions on the Cassette insert, can you advise what was on there?
@@Anime-Control I'm so glad he did the shoutout
Slugger: *receives painstakingly handcrafted piece of multimedia art*
Slugger: *laughs his ass off for 15 minutes*
I was so excited, haha! 😆
the box was so fun to make, and im super glad you had a blast unraveling the little puzzle i put in there 🧙♂
Thank you once again! I was completely blown away by this amazing gift! ❤
You have real skills, it looked real
You could sell these types of things, people would buy it
Never expected a music channel to do this, but still, this was amazing
You singlehandedly pulled me out of my LEGO dark age with your incredible music, and I can’t thank you enough. Still planning on buying the book!
Gonna get on that bandcamp, yall have a great vibe not just in your music but in your passion for making this great thing that so beautifully captures that nostalgic feeling of LEGO.

I feel like an unboxing video where even the person recording doesn’t know what’s in it is a real treat. Great video.
I was so lost on all of this, haha, I was worried folks would be frustrated with how long it would take me to figure it all out. 😅
It's just such a strange and fascinating box that alone made watching it worth it.@@RRSlugger

Man that really was a gift that keeps on giving, you can really see the effort put into it
So much effort!! It's crazy!
I did not know that a lego vaporwave puzzle was something I wanted, but god damn was this amazing.
I'm literally gonna cry, the commitment to every ounce of this package is insane!! Dreamcastle is an absolute treasure, genuinely have not felt so catered to in my interests like,,ever?? i don't even know what to do with myself, i think im just gonna spend the next hour listening to all their music and go from there XD god i love our lil community so much~ 💜
It’s so true, isn’t it? ❤️❤️❤️
I've never dreaded the end of summer as much as I do now.
Mind bogglingly awesome. I was smiling ear to ear throughout! Fun fact, it’s just one really talented folk!!
Ah dude! That was *so* cool! The older LEGO aesthetic was on point.
I think Slugger's brother is slowly transforming himself into a slug as time progresses whenever Slugger uploads a new Summer of Slug video.
Man, it is so cool to see you unbox this Dreamcastle set. 14:02 That modernized version of the LEGO Island park song just hit different.
It's great stuff!
@@RRSluggerAny idea what his version of the track is called?

HOLY GUACAMOLY this is pure gold
Halfway in and I'm amazed by how professional and vintage official it all looks. Some of it is even weathered slightly. dreamcastle did an amazing job.
People hearing the intro:
"Stop, stop, he's already dead!"
Wow this is incredible! This is so much effort dreamcastleTM did an amazing job!!!!
I was completely blown away! 😱
This was absolutely awsome, Slug is one of the most creative youtubers and from what Ive seen on RUclips anyone who gives his videos a watch can agree, and now he generates this creative community around him, truly unique.
0:03 sounding good!

The Box art at 4:33 reminds me so much of that ancient Lego chess game, and how the main hub menu looked! Pure nostalgia!!
I just discovered this channel and was amazed by the classic reviews, but this took the community just to another level!

I'm pretty sure this is the most emotion I've ever heard in slugger's voice
@8:41 - btw, the Lego World Map is actually from Slizer ( Technic ), for some reason I love that theme - depends on how you look at it, a lot of things started from Slizer

Tbh I believe it to be getting better and BETTER as time passes!
We need to progress to the point where it's just "Whhhffmm mm sshmmkk ug bblleh"
Also known as Fall
It's the spiral of slug!
Iiiiiit's theeee spiiiiiiraaal oooof sluuuuug
It's like he got Mike Stoklasa to do the intro this time
How? HOW?!
If I had known that making my own MOC boxes and manuals was this easy, I would've started ages ago!
I'm shocked that all of this effort was just for some music! You have some dedicated fans, that's for sure!
@dreamcastleTM has a fantastic talent
Nobody has been able to capture the aesthetic like him 🙏🏻
The combination of vaporwave and 90s LEGO promotional graphics creates such a beautiful and nostalgic aesthetic. I just love it...
That was just incredible
I always thought that old Lego box arts (especially from Paradisa) really suits vaporwave aesthetic
But this is something else, being so familiar yet otherworldly with that 199X stuff and upcoming Time Cruisers movie, it's like a treasure from another universe
So much positive emotions from the video!
SO FREAKING AWESOME! This is easily one of the coolest things I've seen someone do for their album. 10/10 amazing
I knew someday my paranoia would pay off, I sawthat picture and imediately realized it was a cipher
Your excitement is infectious, which made this great video even more incredible! I love this so much!

Hahaha, ironically you *were* prepared for the disclaimer, at least! 😂
The moment you said in the beginning "You're not prepared for this video" a child screamed really loudly outside my house. It perfectly fit at that moment.
Edit: this was awesome! So well made.
Incredible gift! I love puzzles and ciphers, and to have that all wrapped up in 90s lego nostalgia is just perfect!
I think R.R. Slugger might have the most infectious laugh ever.
this is awesome! ive been a huge fan of dreamcastle's music for years and had no idea this existed :o
Whoever made this should do more. Maybe work with lego to create Lego Puzzle. Where we use piecs to solve clues and get a cool figure.
You should check out their website in the description - it's... immense! 😮
Not the crossover I was expecting! Love DREAMCASTLE and R. R. Slugger!
I know those mocs! I see them come up when I'm looking for time cruisers mocs for inspo, and that playlist too! Thanks for sharing this with us, slugger!
This is so cool, the details are great and so authentic. And a good mystery is always fun! What a trip, I love this.
And so august ends in a couple days and with it the summer of slug. It was great seeing a lot of videos from you.
Incredible! I actually bought that album from their Bandcamp 2 years ago!! Very cool stuff
Ammount of love in this present is OVER THE ROOF
This is more dream like than whole DREAMZZZ line lmao
Well put!! 💯
Wow, what a magical kit, in every way. These people put so much effort and also love into this, and it shows. Major props to all the graphic design and everything, very cohesive and period-appropriate.
This is how a true LEGO collectors video genre should look like! Great one!!!
This is amazing, a LEGO ARG In a box, if I understand the term correctly. i'd love to see more like this. Fantastic work on the person who sent this.
Totally! ❤️
Lego AND Vaporwave? I'm sold!
Wow, not everyday you get a LEGO set from an alternate universe with a *runic cipher* in your PO box!

Certainly Roboforce in 2024! 😊
Ziko!! Sneak into more videos lol.
The concept of majisto’s dream castle is awesome and the detail of the custom box is amazing!

💯 Absolutely!!
This is almost ARG levels of immersive. That 'catalog' is a work of art
Isn’t it? Totally amazing!
Revisiting this almost a year later and wow, what a spectacular gift.
Right? I'm still blown away by it!
What an incredible project. Thanks so much for sharing this with us, Slugger! Truely a piece of art. All the designs, the crazy alternative takes, really blew me away!
Me too! 🤯
Fhummer of fhlug
This video sure was magical and fun. Almost as magical and fun as power miners! ;)
Oh wow this is some damn amazing dedication! And really takes you back to 199X. The aesthetics are spot on
This is the video I never knew I needed, but am so glad to have watched! Amazing work, loved the whole experience and vibe Dreamcastle made
Why a blast! And oh the nostalgia hits just right! Seriously well coordinated!
I wish I could go to the fabulous dimension from which this was sent.
Me too! So cool. ❤️️
All you need is Lego time machine! Dont forget the printed umbrela piece!
Red spiral on white background or black spiral on blue background or is there any difference?
They legit sent you a Lego AU ARG… that’s some massive love for the craft
This was truly a wholesome and heartwarming time. Seeing that first picture with the apple tree-dog-man-elephant had me reeling cause I know I did that as a kid. Truly a labor of love and great vibes all around.
That laugh is delightful
Haha, thanks! 😄
Makes me feel like nostalgia is a sensation...
This was super impressive. The box honestly looked real at a glance.
This is actually so amazing beyond blown away!
truly a mad genius.
Wow... So cool!!! I think the Dreamcastle logo is a reference to the Dreamcast logo!
The slug intro music got some salt spilled on it.
Had my first day of senior year slugger! Very happy I got to come home to a new video :)
Congrats! Working towards graduation! ❤️
Proof that the zodiac is still out there
This is just a wholesome piece of content and I am all here for it.
I'm heartbroken to know that the Summer of Slug must be necessarily followed by the *fall* of slug T_T
This was so fun! They really nailed the vintage Lego feel. 🥲
This is so beautiful it makes me want to cry. Would do anything to get my hands on something even half so incredible!
Loving the Sega Dreamcast style logo for Dreamcastle ❤
AAAAAAHHHHHHHH THIS MUSIC SLAPS SO HARD!!!!!
this is such a fun and creative gift. very cool
Bro sent you a whole escape room
No kidding!! It was unreal!
Sort of is an escape too, into the distant year of 199X, 15 minutes into the past
What an incredible testament to fan creativity
This was fun to watch, I love enigmas and this a good one
This was an absolute joy to watch.
Oh man this was awesome
Got me feeling weirdly nostalgic
That’s some next level right there! Post a solution video! And the dream logo almost looks like Dreamcast font. 😎
Crazy to see a Lego puzzle box with a custom set, it’s all so incredibly well done! Ending the Summer of Slug with a bang I suppose. It’s been a blast!
One must wonder… what will happen to the intro in the last video (if there’s another)?
There will be one more this Friday, for sure! 👍
Wait a second, are you recording a slightly different version of the Summer of Slug theme for each video? LOL
And holy smokes that box is insane!!! I loved this, what a fantastic gift, I love how it has so much attention to detail and how it tries to be genuine and mysterious and everything (and nails it). So much content here. And of course this video of you reacting to it was a lot of fun to watch
Great promotion by you and great campaign!
great video! I wish the summer of slug would never end!
You're right, I need to promote this video to what I watch while having dinner. I'll be back later!
Alright I got burgers we're ready.
Alright, just finished.
This has to be the sickest album drop of all time, from the niche perspective of retro LEGO fans at least!
This is it Luigi, the summer of slug is ending
That box had a lot of love care thought and creativity put into it
I'm not going to lie, part way through I busted out a pen and paper and tried to solve the puzzle. Such a fun "set"!!!
Pure ART!
This looks awesome! I don't think it's coincidental that the number of this set, 6494, is the same number as the Mystic Mountain Time Lab from Time Cruisers.
