Pictomancers Moogle Laser beam spell is perfect for Floor Inspector, maybe should petition for a Mogweapon paintbrush from GKMMXII
considering the lore, pictomancer magic, is basically rudimentary creation magic! I think it's pretty cool 🤭
I was just thinking this! I was watching jesse cox's video and they were talking about some ascian symbols in the new zones, and it makes me wonder if pictomancer is something a reborn ancient created to mimick the true creation magics the once had. kinda like how the unsundered brought primal creation magics to the beast tribes.
Calling it now; the number of Bob Ross glam-cosplays in Limsa are gonna be RIGHT outta control once Dawntrail drops :D

the Job gear for Pictomancer is based on Relm's outfit in FFVI, the hat is about the most recognizable part since the rest of it looks like it'd fit better on a 17 year old Relm rather than a 10 year old that she is in game. and the colour palette is different of course
Ya, but they kinda had to go with a different color pallet. The red and black of her original outfit feels a bit too close to recent Dancer gear.
i think pictomancer would indeed be great for using with spells or summons from the franchise that doesn't fit in with a class archetypes such as the moogle blast they showed or perhaps they can add in the chocobo stampede or kick.

The pictomancer in FF6 was the little girl Relm, who was also the granddaughter of the blue mage character. She had a hilarious scene with Ultros (a big octopus, who also made his way into FF14, as part of the Stormblood Mandervil line, if I remember correctly).
ultros has been part of xiv since the arr manderville quests.
Yoshi P had me dying when they said he would look great in the pictomancer outfit 😂😂😂
I can now imagine him and his guild running around in multiple colors of yellow tossing Moogles at things.
Missing form the notes: Pictomancers will not get gil when they complete quests, instead they will receive a new currency called "Exposure.*" *There will be no vender/NPC ever that will take this currency in game*

Honestly I’ve loved the idea of this job since FF6, and I’m so happy they are making it a real job in 14, I’m so excited to try it out!

Was expecting the spell effects to be more sparkly like what Krile was doing tbh. Those spell sounds will need to be changed or toned down a lot, glooping sounds arent pleasant to listen to constantly.
I feel like Viper is a case when the design team has come up with class mechanics first and brainstormed a theme for it after the fact. They designed Sage like this, but thematically Sage worked for me a lot better than Viper. But in assuming that, I want to wait and see what Viper gameplay is like. Maybe it will blow my mind with how good it feels, like I've felt with Sage.
Pictomancer on the other hand looks like a job where they had the theme first and designed from there. It's a very fun concept and I can't wait to try it out. I'd love if pictomancer had an element of choice and customization in some of their spells. Like when the pictomancer in the trailer painted a black and white landscape and then "finished it" with color and stars, imagine you had like 2 other choices on how to finish the landscape and they would end in different effects. (On the back-end I imagine this working kinda like Ninja, where you mix spell effects by making several inputs.)
Viper should be FF9 thief for Zidane, but cant really have the WoL, pinnacle of good being called a thief and using steal. So they call it Viper but I bet it will feel very much like an FF9 thief.

@@MashangiRogue is literally a thief. They just explain it in the story as you not really being a criminal but a sort of vigilante justice.
tbf Sage very fills in line with previous sages conceptually. Sages before were mages who practiced magic belonging to ancient civilizations like meteor. Just so happens the ancient civilization of 14 were more likely to use lasers and barriers. lol
feel like moogle attack is very reminiscent of bard line attack , so a bard/summoner hybrid ?

I am assuming like bard, there is going to be a non combative aspect to the job. In that you can actually paint pitchers in cities somehow. With all the classes they could have chosen, this one might have been driven by quality of life stuff, and that they replaced all the hardware over at SE. They going to show it off.

I actually had no plans to play any new jobs for Dawntrail, but after seeing this, I really want to try pictomancer now. LOL
Hopefully it wont sound so gloopy in game, i can see it driving me nuts
There's a sfx toggle settings that only affect you if you want to mute your player sfx, but not everyone's sfx.
Alliance raids will be amazing in the first few weeks; gloopy sounds from all 3 alliances. That together with moaning FemHrothgars for whom the audio is broken like when the Boi Bunnies were released. They better hand out extra Tomestones for that! ;-)

I think that's what this class is all about. There is a non combative aspect to the job. Which bard already has. Most likely its something that can be tied to 3rd party tools, though they don't condone it.

This is probably the most hyped I've ever been for a new job, Picto is just so interesting and unique (yes I know other games have painter classes but I still think it's very unique compared to your classic sword and staff)
looks like fun and that is PEAK game design, make it fun and the players will atleast give it the time and effort worth learning. What a fun expansion this is going to be!
the spell animations seem so.. out of place. I get the idea that they're 'pictures' but it seems so incongruent. Also I already hate the gloopy sounds. Still, looking forward to seeing more of it and eventually getting my hands on it in game.
I mean it seems out of place because it’s nothing like any other job. They made all the effects actually look like paint and painted images. So ya it looks different, because its supposed to.

I can’t believe people are liking this. The art direction and sfx for the animation just looks so off for XIV. They should have leaned more into fine art and sketching, actual brush stroke technique style instead of this goofy-ass comic book clip-art splatoon vibe. Really dissappointed in the design choices. Was really looking forward to this job too.
Having unique vfx is a good thing. People were having the exact opposite arguement for what little they saw of viper. It's time we went with something new to match the new story era vibes.
Also jeez. Its an artist. Its going to stand out and regular particles effects won't suit it
@@h0lyhandgrenade The painter sfx and vfx looks like it came straight out of Splatoon, its incredibly out of place I'm honestly surprised it was greenlit. They should have used traditional inking technique as a base reference for style & aesthetic, similar in form to Ōkami but less stylized and with a different post processor for the shader in their engine.
My only complaint is the skill effects have such a drastically different style it almost looks cell shaded and it feels a bit jarring if you put it next to anything else. It almost feels like a cross over event where they don't feel the need to make it fit into 14's environment naturally, which of course for events is totally reasonable but for this its a bit weird. At least it won't look out of place with fall guys gear lol.

Is it just me or does the vfx for Pictomancer look really out of place with the very bright cartoony/anime aesthetic. I get its meant to be a painter but the vfx doesn't match that of the other jobs in terms visual consistency.
Man that dead silence when he asked who plays casters must've stung considering he mains a black mage.
They do silent cheering in Japan for the most part. People were waving glowsticks to respond.
They dont show it, but they using glowsticks when responding. Its the culture, vs western

I don't love either job, aside from the dualbladed weapon as I love anything that's staff-derivated, but I think viper is exclusively for the people that wanted to play rogue not as NIN. It would be the second job to rogue, if they had kept the arcanist tradition.
I'm not superkeen on just how starkly the pictomancer effects stand out compared to the rest of Eorzea, but I'll try it for sure. I ended up playing a lot of Sage when I don't like 'tech' jobs so. Just had to glam it more magical.

I’m excited about a lot in the upcoming expansion but this is the lowest point. This job looks total trash. It’s to cartoony… meh… from what we’ve seen so far it’ll be a job I don’t level unless there is a reward to level all jobs..
its great to have a bright and colorful jov with warm vibes instead of something super edgy. Don't take yourself so seriously.
