That was like something you would see in those oddly satisfying videos. That was amazing to see. They look like they are new parts once again.
Acetone vapor removes sandpaper scratches? I do this with cutting compound and a rag.
can do like you do as well
@@nonomotors What if you polish -> steam -> seal with ceramic coat ?
You can wipe one way with a flat cloth with 99% acetone after using 1,000 grit
You receive the same resuts using a hot air gun on high heat, low blow, without having to use volatile chemicals.
Sand the headlight going down to 1200 grit, then use the heat gun moving in small circles.
I finish the process spraying the headlight with a UVC clear coat to give the headlight some protection.
It is not a totally permanent repair, might last a couple of years depending on your location
It's just acrylic, whatever you did, polishing the surface will damage the OEM UV protection layer, this vapor will survive at least one year in FL or more than two years in NY depending on how much UV is in the environment, to extend the lifetime of it, put protection film with UV coating on it only if your headlight not running at high temperature, or you can spray UV coatings like Megiuar on it.
The first thing I do after cleaning headlights is I buy cheap UV window tint and pase it on there and trim with a razor and it get's protection for a good 5 to 6 years before the tint starts to peel and flake off, but no worries, peel the tint and re-apply it. The headlight under the tint is 100% clear. UV tint does not get hazed or yellow because it has UV protection.
Havent heard such bullshit in some time. Have you ever heard what ceramic coating is? No? I can tell.
@@1119-w3u yes that works perfect for most headlight with low temperature, be careful for high temperature headlight such as
Xenon, with film it will generate hair-tiny cracks on the acrylic.
@@Brancuu so called ceramic is just bullshit, is nothing related to real ceramic, out of data stuff, it’s nonsense, nobody use that on luxury car, you can play it at home for 20bucks
@@jingzezhao4668 there are way more expensive and protective coatings. Also, few bucks for ppf.
How did it hold up after 3 years?
Hi Sir, very good video, it is very usefull. Can you give answer for my quastion? Is it Only Acetone vapour? Or any thing mixed with Acetone?
It's a special liquid for headlight repair
@@nonomotors i got it. Ha... Haaa...
Great job, thanks for posting, now I understand how to use my kit. Good video.
Don't because if you don't know how to do it properly it will show spots... se it foryourself if you want ... why do I bother ...
Awesome video dude I'm in America. How can I get that steamer, I've looked everywhere. Can't find a steamer without high pressure. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
It's basically a metal can that holds acetone, a funnel, and a small fan...
@@calebdrake3544 I thought the can gets hot so it evaporates the liquid?
Can of redbull heatgun and piece of pipe there you go mate :)
@Malik waqas Read my comment above that steam is acetone...do only outside or well ventilated area

Are you using acetone ?
Can u use normal 100% acetone or does it have to be headlight specific solution???
Thanks.
have to be specific headlight solution that's better
You can😉 Pure from the pharmacy, without any color or perfume, poor aceton!
Soak the sandpaper a few minutes in water before using and you’ll get better results.
Hello from Canada how did the headlight look after a couple of months and wear can I get that kit
Hi, still looks good after years. Idk from Canada and any others country
Is it also possible to use simple acetone instead of the liquid polymer generally sold with the kit? Are there no differences?
Acetone clouds the plastic really bad!
@@pecata01Incorrect!!! The same thing!!! I did it already! Pure aceton from
pharmacy, without perfume or color. The result it’s the same! Of course, they don’t want to know about this😉
I am 14 and i want to start making money and i think thats good idea to polish headlights
yes it is
Whats going on? I don't understand what you think you are doing? What type of plastic are you working on? Whats in the steam pot? What reaction is happening here?
Hi, as it's said on the video you do sanding paper with different grid and after apply the steam solution
@@nonomotors whatbis the steam solution and what type of plastic does it work on?
I put methylated spirit on a Renault tail light once, just a tiny bit on a rag. The light cracked up instantly. Cost 2 weeks wagrs to replace. I learned to always confirm material types.
@MongrelShark
plastic type polycarbonate
Liquid solution : headlight steam kit acetone base
Do you add clear UV coat at the and?
Hi, no just like that
I have 180, 280, 360, 600, 800, and 1200 grit paper
What grit should I use and how many passes should I make
if you start with the 180 is gonna leave big scratch, start with 360 it's good enough
400-600, 1000,1500 that’s it!
The same question... Where can I get the acetone heating mug with the special lid
Any good hardware store
Ebay
is it really acetone? How is the Headlight after two years?
Yes it’s still looks great
@@nonomotors someone says that it needs to be coated with a uv protection varnish, what do you say abou it? i will try with my car, i live in a sunny part of latin america...so i would like to know if i need to do this too.. thank for sharing your knowledge

Hi. How the lamp is looking like after a year? Is it still nice or it was just for a while?
Hi yes still looks clear after years
@@nonomotors did you put any UV protection after?
How long does it last?
2/3 years
I cannot see how this is protected from further oxidation. You need to top coat it to prevent oxidation. Excellent clearing technique, though.
it didnt. the sanding took away the faded dry plastic layer on the outside, the finer and finer sanding grits removed the scratches created by the paper used before. He said to take it to 1200 wet/dry and then he used the steamer. I have polished lots of plastics over my years and its amazingly simple. I use water and a couple drops of dish soap while sanding. Removing the gloss is what you are after at first, then making scratches from the paper smaller. I use buffing compound and a few shop towels to buff the shine back. It takes a little elbow grease. BUT, the lenses will eventually go dull once again but it will take more than 2 years and this guys warranty will have expired by then if you could ever find him again.
@@greavous93Guarantee for this is 3 years minimum. I did mine year ago, still brand new! Of course who works this things he will always said it’s bad, cause he’s losing customers 😉
what was that inside the mug?
Acetone liquid chemical
Where do you get the tool to apply the acetone vapor? Thanks.
can find this anywhere online
I can't, do you have link?
Great video
What do you seal it with after the acetone vapor treatment?
Don’t need to do anything after you put the steam is done
I wrapped mine in anti scratch film afterwards.
@NONO Motors if you use acetone, you really should put a plastic sealer on. It would last a decade vs 2-3 yrs
@NONO Motors If you don't they will be yellow soon after without any protection.
Maguire sealer at Walmart automotive department
Awesome video mate. Was just wondering, can I use any acetone for this?
Hi mate thanks for your comment. Bro the product I use is acetone base
@@nonomotors Is this not isopropyl alcohol?
@@nonomotors no it's synthetic rasin and toulene
@@georgenooner lol it's synthetic rasin and toulene.
@George Nooner except headlights are clear coated, and that's what uv waves break down, the clear coat. Simply buffing that clear coat would yield the same results. If the clear coat is completely faded you have to sand and re clear coat otherwise the bare plastic oxidizes super quickly without the uv protection of the clear coat.
would this work on taillights as well?
Yes can work, for example the Mini Cooper R50
So its only 600-800-1200 grit?
Yes that’s it
My painter put paint clear on the lamps and I sold it after 5 years and still like new
Yes check my others videos, it's one with clear coat spray on it. Last 5y plus
Hy friend! How many liquid do you need for one pair of headlights?
Hi bro thanks for your comment. You can fill up half of the cup with the liquid to coat your light. The liquid who is still in the cup after you done the job, can be put back in the bottle and use for next time 👍
What the name of the liquid? Is not acetone
How much do charges

Acetone melts the plastic
@@anguslean4058 Is it safe to use on plastic headlights?
@@mbz4652 yes
That’s what it’s for
Best to sand the headlight from
600
1000
1500
2000
3000
5000 if you really want the best looking
Most just go up to 1200 grit
I think 3000 is better
Also the liquid is acetone
Get 100% pure acetone
Any hardware store has it
Only fill the cup 1/3 and don’t spill it on the headlight.
@@anguslean4058 Thanks for the answer and advice. I heard a lot of people saying that using acetone on plastic headlights could ruined the surface of plastic and even dissolve plastic entirely. But I think that this is the case if you use acetone directly on plastic not if you use a steam machine
@@mbz4652 yep
This works
I got one off Amazon for 25 bucks
If you take your time and sand it correctly
It comes out really nice
But if it’s an old worn out piece of junk with all kinds of cracks and garbage on the inside
You can’t do much
300 seems to be the sweet spot but I have seen people go even higher
I guess if it’s a high end vehicle you might want to go higher
Most of them are stopping at 1200 and then using the vape machine
Don’t use nail polish remover it has other chemicals in it
Stick to 100% or as close as you can get to pure ethanol
Also you could put a cuzzi ( foam insulated cup holder) on it to help retain the heat
Don’t over fill it and don’t spill drops on your headlight
Intrusting 😉
