This video saved my hips and my hopes and dreams of fighting and I'm being completely serious. To elaborate on why that is, what you described the knee as using your hip first and knee second in the 2 step process and also what you said about staying straight and not reaching your knee out as far as possible. I have a lateral tear in both labrum's unfortunately and it's because I was taught how to kick and knee incorrectly. I was taught "use as much of your hip as possible" which I see now is wrong, it's about hip control and balance. When I was using my hips I was thrusting my hips forward by pushing my hips with my butt as far as possible, hyperextending my hips, never getting proper technique and unfortunately tearing my labrum. I went and practiced lightly what you showed of not using "as much hip as possible", just activated my hip to a comfortable amount and used my knee second and stayed straight, not reaching, I felt no pain and I just feel more balanced and controlled. Thank you so much for this video, I truly appreciate it.
