You remind me a lot of the old hollywood glamor before all of the extreme make up came into fashion I hope you continue to make more films I adore how you speak and look
You are the first beauty guru I've come across, who actually teaches makeup in a very educational way ❤️ thank you for these tutorials. They're so helpful!
I dont even have pale skin but im so obsessed with your channel im watching every video haha. You are so well informed and really know what you are talking about.
These eyeshadow shades are BEAUTIFUL on you! These exact shades can look almost ashy on many other skin tones. These shades look so unique on your skin. Stunning!
This is probably the most helpful video I've ever found on contouring. As a natural redhead, I'm extremely fair. It's so difficult to contour. I find myself using my hair to hide my contour because it never looks right. Also, you remind me so much of Stoya when she had her black hair. Which is a compliment, because I find Stoya to be one of the most beautiful people I've ever seen in my life.
Ok so, I'm blown away because I've only started watching your videos. I'm thoroughly freaked out because so many of the colors and application techniques that I've had to learn through a decade, give or take, of trial and error are all explained so eloquently by you, professional. Where have you been all my makeup wearing life?! Finally! Someone who understands the needs of a very fair person!
Thank you for the wealth of information you provide for makeup tutorials for pale skin! I’ve had pale skin all my life (back in the 1980s, people used to make fun of me for not tanning!) and I’ve always struggled to find the right makeup. You are simply amazing!
I have exceedingly pale skin--the Hourglass vanishstick in "Blanc" is my perfect match, also the Kat Von D concealer in L1. I have always used the Bobbi Brown eyeshadow in "Wheat" and it is just fantastic as a contour for me. I have freckles and translucent-y skin, and it really matches the actual tone of the shadows on my face without looking muddy. A bit under my cheekbones, quite high; deepening the rather flat bridge of my nose and narrowing my browbone is all the contour I do! I definitely agree with contouring to one's face shape, not the newest trend.
Raðni Neilsson I know this is quite late, but I truly am jealous of your radiant skin! I personally have ivory skin tone that tends to break out and is slightly dehydrated on certain parts..oh the things I would do to have porcelain textured skin..
I love Wheat! I have it in the Nude on Nude palette -- and those tones are perfect for contouring pale skin. I never would have realized how much I love Cement unless I'd gotten it in the palette, although I like it as an eye shade, but it could definitely work as a contour too.
Hello, I have to say that this channel helped me find makeup for myself. My skin tone is really similar to yours except for the undertones ( mine are neutral, gets a slight of golden hue on the forehead in summer) so the first time I saw a thumbnail of one of your video, I clicked. Thank you for being one of the few very fair skin makeup content creator, I am sure you are helping not only me but a lot of people with our kind of skin shades.
I always get so excited when I find contouring videos for pale skin because a lot of the time, brands will only make and sell shades that will sell the best. THANK YOU!!! For the Q&A, would you be able to talk about your makeup journey? Like when you became interested in makeup and how you got to where you are now? Or that could be another video. Do you plan on staying in London permanently? Would you move away from the UK? :)
thank you! contouring is the last makeup technique i feel i need to master, and my skin is SO fair - not as fair as yours, but probably one shade darker - i always felt like i couldn't properly contour. this helped a lot!
You make so much sense to me! I have been using Omega , as a light contour, for years! I don't even bother trying any of the available contour products. Even if they claim to be apppropriate for fair skin, they still won't work on me! Now, when it comes to colour, I always go for the neutral shades. I have been enjoying the Tarte Amazonian Clay Neutral Mattes Palette. Warm tones don't agree with my face , as they tend to be too intense and cool tones I feel make me look like an ice queen. As if I don't have any colour whatsoever. It's so frustrating at times.... pfff
Its so lovely to finally have someone enjoying their fair skin, so many people like to be tan. Even translucent powder looks covered on my ultra pale skin, sometimes being a ginger is a hassle when it comes to makeup
This is the most helpful contour film I have found. I am very pale, with blue eyes and have a pinky, blue undertone. I have spent so long looking for advice on how to contour my pale skin.
OMG I have both these inglot shadows and never thought to use them as contour, but they are perfect for my fair skin. Thank you so much!! I even managed to contour my nose and carve it to such flattering look.
I was expecting a voice that was.....dainty, based off your thumbnail.....then you spoke and I’m like mmm damn, beautiful throaty, soothing sound. I hope that doesn’t sound offensive. You and your voice are gorgeous ♥️
I am thrilled that I finally found a channel that mirrors my coloring. The only difference between the two of us, is I have green eyes. What lipstick are you wearing in this video? Another thing, I have super dry skin. I already have an issue finding loose powder that’s fair enough that’s not drying. Clinique discontinued their white loose powder years ago. Bless you and thank you.
This must be the first time I subscribe because of the voice and accent of a RUclipsr. Thank you for the tips it’s such a struggle to find I perfect tone for a pale skin.
There's a great contour colour for us pale skin from the Italian brand Nabla, the shade is called Gotham. I usually add a bit of a warmer tone as it's almost too grey on me (I have yellow-golden undertones), but it's great on pink/blue based undertones. Maybe a bit pigmented but it's very easy to work. Informative video as usual, I love your tongue in cheek remarks XD
Your voice is so soothing and relaxing and pleasant to hear, it's incredible! I'm not the palest person in the world but I'm actually find some of your advices very helpful even for more yellow-ish skin tone people like me. Thank you so much. Take good care of yourself, too! 💕
I'm not quite sure if you have answered this in a previous video or not but, my question is; where are you from? Your accent is so beautiful and classic! ❤️
The eyeshadow looks like it's as smooth as clay.. also, you're so blessed to have so much space between your brow and your crease, us hooded ones can't wear eyeshadow without looking like a mess!
Thank you for these recommendations, John! I'm pretty pale, too, and contour with Anastasia Beverly Hills Stick Foundation in Fawn and/or Kevyn Aucoin's The Sculpting Contour Powders in Light and Medium (grayer than the Light and works with a light touch). I think you'd like those as well! Would love to hear your thoughts on nude lips for pale skin. I can't seem to go lighter than my natural lip color ... tho I keep trying 💸💸💸 XO from Chicago
I love the way you speak. Its very pronounced very proper and I just adore it. I'm incredibly pale and I dont contour often because its so hard to find shades that work
„I know many of you are probably thinking that I am a bit of a stuck record as I always use them but I can assure you I am not a stuck record, perhaps an immortal orchestra“ EPIC ✨
Skidded into your part of youtube... and your voice is so soothing and I have pretty pale skin (darker than yours and more peach tones, but still pale!) and your tips are so helpful so far. And love your look :D Very talented
Thank you so much for making tutorials. My skin is incredibly pale as well, so I'm really glad I found this channel! (side note: you are stunningly beautiful and your voice is mesmerizing)
your channel looks to be one of the few on youtube wherethe comments are 99% positive! love reading them and seeing that. it says a lot! thank you for your great videos john! :)
This is the first video I've watched of you and my attention can wander very easily when I'm just skipping around RUclips but your voice is so relaxing I watched the whole video just to hear you talk! Your accent and the way you enunciate everything is so soothing, ASMR is something that you'd excel at, I hope you've looked into it!
I’m Eastern Asian and you know how pale our skin tones are. I live in England but couldn’t never find the right contour product for myself as I find most products here are too warm and dark, and I don’t like strong colors on my face except for my stage looks. I almost asked friends to post some grey toned contour stick from Asia!! This video DID help!! Thanks!!
I was beginning to think I'd never be able to contour my face because all the traditional shades look like mud on me. This video was a game changer. Many thanks from this pale makeup fan.
Thank you, Lord John. I was born naturally pale. Then, at a very young age, I was diagnosed with Vitiligo. My skin stopped producing melanin and the very little pigment I had was torn away from me through the years. Not complaining, it actually flatters my natural red hair and green eyes. I was left on my own to learn about cool/warm tones when it comes to contouring. I looked muddy and/or orange throughout my journey. Now, I'm in my 50's and know more, but still learning. And I love learning from you, you gorgeous creature you! A sincere and gracious thank you. 🩵🤍🩵🤍
I LOVE LOVE LOVE kryolans "beech" and MACs "omega" - they've been in my makeup case for years! Recently I've been liking dermacolors d11 concealer, as a cream contour!
Watching this in 2021 almost 2022 Explanation was amazing! So detailed, so in depth and really helpful! Your look and voice are so magnetic I couldn´t stop watching you! You seem such a nice person. Take a lot of care and thanks for the amazing advice! I´m a newbie in contour terms because I´m just plain white and I don´t like looking aged so this was exactly the tutorial I was looking for! Thanks so much!
I've only just stumbled across your channel and already I'm obsessed with you and your content. You're so beautiful and talented and I appreciate that you do a lot of content for super pale people! I'm a reflective surface when I go outside

You are amazing! I learned so much. I am extremely pale with natural ash hair. Ugh. I used to dye my hair a vibrant red just to give me color. You also have the best voice. You could easily do asmr Just love everything about you ❤
You're absolutely beautiful and wonderfully eloquent, a joy to watch and listen to, I'm pale and blue eyed, I have been really struggling to grasp contour, your video has helped me feel much more confident about it, thankyou very much
*other youtubers* : “And of course, don’t forget to subscribe!”
*John* : “And of course, take care of yourself.”
You’re so sweet I just love you!
You're really beautiful and your voice is really soothing. You're like the Bob Ross of makeup

Please don't ever change.
It would be an HONOR to have a sit-down makeup session with John Maclean.
Not only informative but also entertaining. Thank you for sharing your work with us John.

I cant stop looking at his lips while he is speaking; pretty lips and way of talking 😭👏🏻 + he is entirely pretty 🙌🏻
I have pale skin and rosacea and bright blue eyes. It's hard to find the right colors. This helps me alot John! Thank you for sharing your expertise!

~Dear John, how are you so eloquent and mesmerizing ?
Contours aside, you look absolutely stunning in this film. A tutorial on this look would be so wonderful.
I've used the Inglot 342 on myself, also the Krylon in Beach are both flattering. I'm very pale & cool toned too!

Thanks!!
Dark hair, blue eyes and very red lips. So...basically, you’re perfect?? Indeed!! 😍❤️😍❤️
I was beginning to think I'd never be able to contour my face because all the traditional shades look like mud on me. This video was a game changer. Many thanks from this pale makeup fan.
I really love Inglot's Sculpting powder in 504, It was the first one to work well for my really pale skin. This is a great video!
I feel like you could choose makeup without trying them out. You really know what colors suit you already. 😍
John, you are stunning.
You look stunning in every film, but today I love love love your eye look!!!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE kryolans "beech" and MACs "omega" - they've been in my makeup case for years! Recently I've been liking dermacolors d11 concealer, as a cream contour!

Please do a tutorial on how you did you eyeshadow & eyebrows. Love this look!
Oh wow hello, Im new. Caught off guard by the heavenly voice. I could listen to you all day! So calming.
I could watch you all day! Unfortunately, I have looked and looked for all of the colors you suggested, (after wasting a lot of money on colors that haven’t worked on my very light, redheaded skin) but I can’t find any of them. I totally would’ve bought all of this stuff through your links. If you were to update your links, so that I could go directly to these items, I would totally buy all the ones you recommended. I really have tried so hard to follow, tutorials and get this right and you’re right. The warm tones do not work on me.
PS, I finally did find three of the colors here and there, but it was very difficult. It would be great if you could provide links right to them someday.
Thanks again. It’s so fun to watch you.
You are amazing! I learned so much. I am extremely pale with natural ash hair. Ugh. I used to dye my hair a vibrant red just to give me color. You also have the best voice. You could easily do asmr Just love everything about you ❤
whatever shadows you used on your eyes here...they are now my favorite hg eyeshadows of all time, and I must procure them stat!
Wow, your videos are like makeup documentaries. I love it. Your voice and the simplicity of the video make it seem so official lol.
I just love how you say the word film! Thanks so much for the tipps, I am very pale myself, I will have a look at a cooler contour shade.
You're absolutely beautiful and wonderfully eloquent, a joy to watch and listen to, I'm pale and blue eyed, I have been really struggling to grasp contour, your video has helped me feel much more confident about it, thankyou very much
