GREAT video! I love how you connect your opinions with very real and relatable stories/examples to drive the point!
I HATE the OR buckle. Don’t know how you never broke one in all your years! Just like that New Mexico mule deer hunt, you got some kind of luck!

I have the same Sitkas and they’ve been great for the past 6 years. On the hunt for gaiters for my wife and sort of disappointed that you didn’t have more brands in the review. Stone Glacier, First Lite, and Kuiu were on my radar. Thanks for the work you do.

For the past 8 years working as a forestry engineer in northern BC I’ve been using OR gaiters and loved them. Looking forward to picking up a pair of ape equipment gaiters and trying them out. I have always had large calves so the custom sizing of the apes is very appealing

Look forward to trying these out compared to my crocs. I’ve always liked my crocs, they’ve always worked relatively well, but I’ve never loved them.

I’ve put 3 long hard seasons on my peax gaiters with no failures. The biggest draw to the ape equipment for me is the custom sizing. I’ll be ordering a pair whether I win the giveaway or not. Thanks for the reviews.

Another great video and review. I have tried different brands in the past, but never kept them because they never fit well. I have 20 inch calves and narrow ankles. The option of custom fit is great. Thank you for the review. If I don't win I will be ordering a pair!! Keep it up Jay.

Great review! Thank you. I get 40% off at OR, but my calves are 18 to 19 inches wide, the custom options the route for me.

OR Crocs have been great other than the small Velcro tag at the bottom. Like you mentioned they instantly fill up with debris and become useless. That said I’ve never had any issues with the buckle or slippage.

I'm a new consumer to gaiters and was interested in the T&K Hunting gaiters because they're at least made in North America. But if I can get even more local and they're still high quality, that's a huge plus.

Very interesting comments on discounts, makes ya think for sure.
Been running APE Silverback Ultras for a couple years now, they've performed flawlessly.
I hear what you're saying about the Lace Loop, it could be an issue in certain vegetation,it's never been an issue for me, I find it stays on better than the "over the top" lace hook.
Thanks again for a great review.

I recently swapped to the Peax equipment gaiters and really like them, they are not custom built but they do have a pretty straightforward measuring setup so you make sure you can ge the sizing correct, having said that I like the idea of entirely custom fitted gaiters

100% agree about the discounts about items and I say the same; if you can offer 30-50% discount then the normal price is 15-20% too high. With my business I generally only offer 10% off as i feel the price for my equipment is a fair price especially since everything is made to order and can be customized.

Currently running the OR Expedition Crocs, solves the buckle issue up top with a Velcro strap. The Velcro tab at the bottom as you said is pretty worthless since it barely does it’s job. My wife has the Peax Stormcastle gaiters and likes those. The attachment system up top is easier for her to operate when her hands get cold. Enjoyed the review

First day on my first trip out in my OR Crocs and they failed. Had to run them tapped up for the rest of the hunt. OR replaced them without a fuss. I could see grabbing a pair of Ape gaiters in the future just for more piece of mind.

I’ve run a pair of Kenetrek gaiters for several years and they are now all torn up and leak. Got really soaked last season walking through tall wet grass even with rain pants on. Also, hounds tongue/beggars lice really sticks to their camo fabric. I got a pair of Kuiu Yukon gaiters to replace them but have yet to try them out. The APEs are definitely on my radar now.

  • @MrChiumiento
    @MrChiumiento 5 месяцев назад +1

The only gaiters I have are kings Camo, so those are my favorite as of right now. But I have definitely been looking for something like the Ape gaiters, something that is made with good quality. Being made in North America is a huge deciding factor for me. So if I do not win from here I will most likely put these on my list of things to buy. especially because I completely trust what jay has to say. At this point my to buy list is years in the making.😂

Peax. Rebuildable. My problem with OR were failure of the top tension keepers aka latching piece made of plastic, the tiny hinge holes would break rendering it useless over time.

Great review Jay. I've been using OR gaiters for as long as I can remember. I have used Kenetrek Gaiters but I prefer the fit of OR. Never broken a buckle but they have always been a concern because they seem week. Also I share your sentiment on Sitka discounts. They are definitely going to Increase their customer base but they are going to hurt themselves every time they release new products. Everyone will be holding out for the sale. In turn I see the quality going to hell.
